i've played a bunch of them and am more of a fan of the earlier more survival-horror puzzly style of gamesConfession: I've never played a Resident Evil game.
Just never found the right place and time to jump in, I guess.
So many of you here are so passionate (for and sometimes against) each title in the series, that I'm really starting to think that I've dearly missed out on something here.
Where would be a good place to start for someone new to the series?
out of those i'd recommend re2, since imo it's simply the best one. some things aged like crap like tank controls and the saving system is pretty jarring in the current checkpoint age but i still think it's a lot of fun and i think the atmosphere is the absolute best in the series
also you can play like the first few hours of re4 and then drop it, that's also really good
all the games have a lot of ties with each other but the story's pretty out there (and pretty bad at that) so it's not like you're missing out on much if you miss a couple games.
