reads "jrpg"

first game is weird pirate hidden object game

fuck is this shit

-_-

I like weird games, bite me!
and it shouldn't be first, it just steam doesn't let me reorder it (._.)
Also you didn't think I would go through trouble of creating a new group for this, did you?

My 60 years old mother who watched me play Gauntlet back in the day is clearly sending not so subtle signals of "do want to play".
I'm not sure if I'm ok with that

I think I'm with your mom on this and I'm ok with that (><)

Hmm, Steam is recommending I play Bad Rats because I played Surgeon Simulator. Once, for ten mins about 18 months ago...

Steam is obviously now evil.

So we who happen to be the curators of the Neogaf group on Steam have pretty much decided that we'll curate whatever happens to be recommended in the OP managed by MRORANGE.

Two of my recommended tags are "RPG Maker" and "Female Protagonist". I don't think I have ever played more than 10 minutes of a RPG Maker game and while I do enjoy a few games with the "Female Protagonist" tag I would say its a pretty small percentage of the games I have actually spent time on unless its looking at recent history where I have played Tomb Raider and Remember Me.

It is hugely influenced by games you have played recently. I've been playing DR3 lately, and despite it being the one of the only zombie game I have ever played on Steam, I'm getting recommendations for every single zombie game. Blah.

They really need to add more customization to the recommendations, because they are pretty awful so far. And the discovery queue is useless since it's entirely "recommended because this game is popular."

Blackwell games as BTA? The original 4 games were $2.99 during the winter sale!
Oh well if this'll mean the developers get some more cash then I hope the best.

Seriously get the Blackwell games, they're awesome.

Here is a giveaway for a Mask of The Wyrm Slayer in-game helm for Gauntlet. I got this from the August Loot Crate and don't need it

I'm probably LTTP on this (did the new Steam store interface go live yesterday?) but how are people finding the customized/personalized storefronts? I find typically that recommendation engines are dead wrong most of the time so I am skeptical.

Also, under "Recommended For You" and "Similar to games you play" those recommendations have been pretty laughable so far.

The recommendations at the very bottom of the screen actually seem to be the most accurate.

Is there any way to further influence the recommendations? Or is it like all the other recommendation engines out there where they just "know better"
No idea. I found out that due to my idling sessions and use of Idle Master, Steam now thinks I've played every piece of junk I own in my account for hours on end. This, in turn, ruined the recommendation algorithm for me, as I have no way of letting it know that those 2 hours were for the sole purpose of getting some of that sweet cards money.

In for Defenders, SmallWorld and Blackwell. Good bundle to me.

Seriously, though, Thomas again?

Probably give Valve a day or two to get peoples feedback on what's missing. I can't even find a store page button to show only games less than $5
"Give Valve a day or two" is the funniest thing I've heard all day. A year or two, maybe.

So here we go, my impressions on Outland so far.

Game runs very well so far (I would be shocked if it didn't) using GeDoSaTo to downsample from 4K on my i5 4570 / 7870 GHz. Settings are very minimalistic, except for resolution, screen mode and Vsync there are no graphical settings. It supported my Xbox One controller out of the box but you can also play with keyboard if you want to. However, you can't rebind keys and have to choose between two pre-defined control schemes which aren't all too different. What's a bit annoying is that no matter which input method you choose, the game displays prompts for both, KB and controller which can be irritating at times and just looks sloppy in general.

Gameplay-wise the hour I've put into the game turned out to be a quite challenging 2D platformer. You can take three hits at the beginning of the game (but are able to spend coins to upgrade your health at various points) before you respawn at the last checkpoint and can refill your health bar by finding heart-items. Proceeding through the first levels your character will learn how to perform different moves which will enable you to reach previously unattainable locations. I also experienced one level which enabled me to switch between "Balance" and "Chaos" mode - resembled by light blue and deep red - which in return enable you to use platforms and make you invincible to traps and enemies of the same color. Reminded me of Giana Sisters.

Sadly the game clearly shows that it was previously a PS360-console-exclusive. While the overall art and color direction is great, low resolution assets can be spotted easily (especially background textures). Downsampling from 4K helped to gloss over this a bit. Music is not outstanding to me so far but I really enjoy the complete package of Outland up to this point.

Not sure which one work. According to Humle all should work:

Thanks for Titan Quest!

I'm not really sure how to use the eve codes

Game comes from the greenmangaming welcome pack

Finished Revelations, liked it a ton. It's most likely for you if you enjoy:

- fast shooters
- some amounts of spooky
- scanning in Metroid Prime
- looking for stuff

it's most likely not for you if you dislike:

- wave shooters
- rail shooters
- backtracking
- bullet sponges

I can only remember one safe that I missed (behind a picture) but I think I found all the other secrets (sans all the handprints). Took me 6 hours (according to game, 8 according to Steam) on normal, died 11 times. I thought it was surprisingly hard at times too.

Also stared playing Lovely Planet. It's pretty trippy and I love trick jumping. Aww yiss.

Hmm, so where are located the preorder bonuses for Gauntlet ? Is it a case of "will appear on your hard drive when installed" ? Because I have nothing dlc wise.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild it. We have the capability to make the world's first enhanced store. Steam will be that store. Better than it was before.
I love how games like Assassin's Creed III don't have any DRM listed the new way, just a note that you have to agree to a random EULA.

It's like moving mountains to get these bigger publishers that use 3rd party DRM to update their information. I hope Valve steps in and either a) does it for them or b) punishes them. Of course, neither will happen.

So... Enhanced Steam.

Is The Bureau worth my time? I'm curious to try it but opinions seem really mixed. Got other stuff in my backlog but I'm wondering if I'll end up enjoying this. I guess I'm curious bcause it's an Xcom game and really loved Enemy Unknown/Within.

I am not beating the average for Small Worlds. Not after reading this.

You hate dark humor.

I like bitchslapping my patient while throwing all his organs at his face.
No, I hate "ha ha so funny" control schemes that are basically just bad =p

The blackwell games are really good tho.

If you loved Enemy Unknown, you will hate The Bureau, or "equal opportunity hiring laws simulator". Your teammates have the collective intelligence of a bit of dust.

It's different to the mainline XCOM/X-COM games, but I'd say it's a lot better than most people say it is.
It's similar to the Brothers in Arms series in gameplay and the story has some good points (thouth it also suffers from awful cliches)
I played through it in 12 hours, which is not bad for a modern shooter.

So for those of you that prefer highlighting vs those little pop out tags, I was thinking something along these lines:
