Alien Bob

taken advantage of my ass
I know one of you people wants to gift me Don't Starve. You have my number. Although, having both Don't Starve and Dark Souls probably isn't good for my health...

Also my GAF and Steam icons are now the same, so there's that.

Too bad Endless Space - Disharmony is only 10% off. I picked Endless Space up at it's release, but I guess I should've waited till the sale on this Emperor's Edition bundle. :-(

Seriously? (><)
Can't say is it sarcasm or not, sorry

It depends. If you have the "F2P"-Version you need to spend money to get cards.

If you have it through the Orange-Box and have this "founder"-status or whatever that is, you can get cards. At least thats how it was at the beginning. Dont know if they changed it.

What's the Pinball like? I was thinking of getting the Star Wars one.

Going by your avatar I think you should. :) Just don't expect realistic tables, Pinball FX is very over the top and flashy, especially the SW tables but all three are good imo. Start with Clone Wars, that's the easiest while Boba Fett takes a while to master.

Ok, let's try this modbot thing again, I hope it works now. If it doesnt, let me know again and i'll drop you a PM.

Worked perfectly, thank you dead DrTeflon. Now I'm not the last person on earth who doesn't own Magicka anymore. :)

Ah this is true.
I just read the FAQ - DOTA2 and TF2 you must make in-game purchases, unless you purchased TF2 beforehand.

Before you could get cards for just idling, but now they changed it. Sorry for the initial confusion.

Still, you can buy some games with cards, say for ~2.50, and make back $1 fairly easily (for example, Hotline Miami).

form my perspective the Longest Journey (if you like adventure games) and Recettear (if you like fun)
I played some of Lara Croft &GoL, it's not bad too.
Yet to play DoD
not interested in Deponia or Pinball

As a matter of fact i love adventure and point & click games, so after Lara Croft i will try The Longest Journey. Hope it's as good as the golden classics Monkey Island, Police Quest series, Indy Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, Space Quest etc etc (i could go on forever).. Those were the days.

This is true. In free-to-play games, you have to spend some money to obtain the cards. You can actually see how many drops you'll be able to receive in the 'badge'-tab. I bought Team Fortress 2 years ago in The Orange Box, so my version is technically not free-to-play and lets me obtain several cards.

Cool. I'll definitely pick it up some time during the sale.

Just to make a quick recommendation for Thomas Was Alone. Really fun puzzle-plat former. Not very challenging, but with interesting different mechanics at play. Good soundtrack and narration and an engaging story which was surprising giving the genre and the characters presentation (geometric figures). It's already at a pornographic price so I don't think it will decrease further from that.

Hi gaf, so what's the concensus on Toki Tori 2? Buy it now or wait for a cheaper price in the winter sale? I have a small budget for this saleand I would like to be sure it's really worth the current price.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

Then you'll like tLJ, it's one of the best after all.
Have fun!

Deponia is also a point & click adventure game, but I've never played it so who knows if it's any good.

So far i managed to buy:

Deponia
Dungeons of Dredmor
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
The Longest Journey
Pinball FX 2 /w a table (Epic Quest)
Recettear

Never played any of these before. Which one is worth playing?

I haven't played Deponia or Pinball FX 2, but all of the others are worth playing.
Nice selection!

edit: Looking at your later posts, TLJ is a great point-and-click adventure game. If you like it, there's a good chance that its sequel, Dreamfall, will go on sale as well. It's a classic that is getting a bit more attention with the announcement of a new title in the TLJ universe.

Dungeons of Dredmor is a tongue-in-cheek, visual-heavy rogue variant that is a lot of fun. It never takes itself too seriously, yet has the depth and mechanics of a solid rogue title. We used to have GAF competitions with that game and they were a lot of fun. Framerate drops at times, though you wouldn't imagine why just looking at the screenshots. Fun, fun game.

It's a solid game.
Gets a little boring in certain places, but it's fresh and doesn't overstay its welcome.

Does idling in menus work for cards?

Also, can you idle more than one game at a time and get cards for all?

You can get 10% off from some people here so it would be 44% off.

youd get a game for free, then idle for cards, sell cards, repeat with 1000 alt accounts, get rich, valve gets nothing

you still have to sell those cards, no? It won't work if you get too hundreds of them.
Valve gets something even from f2p games, userbase for example.

nvm me, I'm just joking

I second this, thomas was alone is an awesome cute little game. very clever and very charming, and I was very glad it didn't end like I was thinking it'd end

it's also gorgeous to look at, music's pretty moving too

At least I've gotten cards for two games when I have them running at the same time. I haven't really checked if I get cards for having more running.

Yes, you can idle in menus. Just have the game running and no you can't run multiple games at the same time on steam.

Sure you can.

I've been waiting on Fallout New Vegas:Ultimate for what seems forever. Do you think 40% off the best I can hope for?

I'd say -75% if it gets a daily, flash or community deal. Tough last sale it was never a daily, flash or community deal. At least wait until the very last day of the sale (22th) until you buy it for -40%.
