Steam Summer Sale 2020: June 25 - July 9

Picked up Hero U, Wonder Labyrinth, and Gloomhaven for just at $30 to get the $5 discount.
Hyped for Hero U as an old Quest for Glory guy, hopefully the Coles still have it.
Wonder Labyrinth looks amazing and I've been wanting to check it out since it hit EA.
Long have I heard people sing the praises for the tabletop version of Gloomhaven, reviews for the EA version looked pretty solid, so I decided to try it out.

Perfect timing. Just switched over to PC.

Picked up Insurgency Sandstorm, Serious Sam HD Collection and Hatred. Get paid soon so I may plan to pick up more!

The tutorial for Gloomhaven confused the shit out of me with cards getting burnt or whatever as you go but it looks like they updated a lot of content now. Will have to check it out again.

I bought loads of VR games in my wish list playing the long game of waiting for 50+% discounts. Many of the better games are on Oculus instead of Steam though and they rarely if ever go on sale :/

I got a few games yesterday that had been on my wishlist for a long while. Total was $27 since just over $30 gave me the $5 discount.

Prey +DLC
Dusk
Gris

Wonder Labyrinth feels amazing, I hope it doesn't spend an eternity in early access. I enjoyed Bloodstained, but WL really hits the SotN nail square on the head.

Stupid question: Does anyone know if both players need to purchase Overcooked 2 for online MP? or can a friend join on your game if only you own it?

Alright, bought Assassins Creed Unity. 3rd time that I'll play it, but it's still the best classic AC-game. Also wanna test my pc how good this thing looks on my new baby.

Last I checked We Happy Few wasn't well received. Look up some reviews.
I don't really care about what videogame journalist have to say, also if i remember well they reviewed a not complete version of the game.

(Not mad at you of course, i was just hoping for some feedback from people who played the game).
I like the game art style and i heard the story is pretty good, i just don't know if they fixed all the bugs etc.

I think i'm gonna buy

We happy few
Immortal unchained
Curse of the dead gods

What do you think?

I tried Happy Few two hours, it's probably better than its reputation and the 72% user score on Steam seems about right. Had it been a tightly designed first person game like Bioshock it would have been legendary. But it's mostly an open world/crafting/survival game and if that's your thing, go for it.
The most fascinating part is how it unveils the backstory as you go along, there's some really cool ideas here.

Thanks.

Refunded Rogue Warrior as it just didn't ran properly at all and ended up getting Curse of the Dead Gods as my final sale purchase (honest, I swear!).

Won't be touching it until it's out of EA though. Still have plenty of Hades to play!

Gone for Project Cars 2 so far - at about £6 it's a steal. Really enjoying it. I have my eye on Sekiro, DOOM Eternal and Monster Hunter Worlds and will get probably 2 out of those 3. Oh, and I'm finally gonna get Binding of Isaac probably.

So I've completed my final Summer Sale purchase today.
Tales of Vesperia
Doom Eternal
Dragon Quest XI
RE2 Remake
RE7
SAO: Fatal Bullet Complete
Senran Kagura Esrival Versus and Burst are:Newal
Nioh
Megadimension Neptunia VII
Valkyrie Drive
Mad Max
FFXIV Complete

As far as steam sales go, this is the most successful one for me. I hope everyone else had good hauls this year!

Well I had about $80 in my Steam wallet. That went fast.

I really like Cloudpunk. That was a good buy. I got some Tales games, never played them before. I also picked up a few duds I won't mention, but at least they were super cheap.

My haul:

I might be good. Part of me wants to scoop up Disco Elysium... but I'll be damned if this right here wouldn't last me until the next sale alone. That's A LOT of gaming.

A Plague Tale
Enter the Gungeon
GRIS
Killer 7
Hades
Pyre
Transistor
Katana ZERO
Flight Control HD
Cuphead
Little Nightmares
Batman: The Telltale Series
Rayman Origins
Psychonauts
Outer Wilds

Got myself a bit of a haul there. Happy with it for sure.

I wanna buy this one but like you said, after hades everything seems mediocre.

Dafuq...you have enough to play for 2 years...

Looking hard at Risk of Rain 2. Anyone played it? Is it any good?

Edit - maybe I should elaborate. I'm looking for a relatively cheap indie game to fill my quick pick-up-and-play void usually filled by a roguelike. I might just get Isaac as I know that's popular but kinda put off by the aesthetic

Gunfire reborn also looks cool. Anyone played that?

I got a bunch of games from the sale. Unfortunately nothing more interesting unless I'm not looking well

I was talked into also scooping up Disco Elysium after a long chat with a buddy last night. He swears up and down that it's like a life changing experience.

Haul:

Dragon Quest Builders 2
Assassins Creed Odyssey
Fallout 4 G.O.T.Y. Edition
Disco Elysium

Please get Risk of Rain 2. I played as soon as it was available and have put in over 180hours since then. I'm giving it some more time in the oven and will get back to it once 1.0 hits. I can easily see myself double those hours if not more by the end of next year as it's probably up there with the best roguelikes I've ever played!

I only play solo and with a friend every now and then. It's perfect. :)

Supposedly the combat is much better/deeper in CotDG but we'll see. Gonna need to put at least a hundred hours more into Hades.
Supposedly based on what? I never heard of anyone who said that and from the videos it doesn't look better at all, and hades has basically pixel perfect controls and combat and it is faaaaaar more varied than cotdg.

I just have that roguelite hitch right now.

On the other spectrum i bought risk of rain 2 some weeks ago and i was bored after 4 hours, i didn't liked the timer or the art style and the shooting is very very unimpactful.

The progression was kinda fun and i saw the potential for some op build tho.

Wow, high praise. It certainly looks fun and addictive. What carries over from run to run and what's the ultimate goal of the game?

Never mind, bought it! I'll be back with impressions.

Edit - Seems great! On my 4th run I managed to activate the totem to end the first stage but died to a stone golem while waiting for the totem to power up. Happy with it so far - it's fast and fun with loot. What's not to like?

I've heard a few streamers talk about this. Basically it's due to the fact that in Hades all the enemies just attack you all at once whereas in Curse of the Dead Gods it's more along the lines of say, the Arkham series where enemies 'queue' up and let you deal with them one by one; stringing combos together as you go along. I realize that doesn't necessarily sound 'better' per se but does allow for more breathing room in terms of the encounters themselves (and less button mashing).

That said I still have to give it a go myself so they might all be talking out of their arse. :messenger_grinning_sweat:

It sound like shit tbh, and from what i watched it doesn't seems that enemy take turns.

But i didn't really watched much about the game because i don't want spoiler.

I've become so dissatisfied with how you browse steam they think that they fixed it with their Discovery queues and stuff like that but they really haven't the stuff I actually want to buy off and gets buried and I forget it even exist. and now because my library has to be separated by genre I have trouble finding games in there as well especially with their nebulous standards for what counts in what genre. To be fair you can make your own collections and at some point I might feel like doing that but it's all very cumbersome if I want to look up a game in my library I should just be able to hit the first letter of the title and at least be close to it but now that's not true anymore.
