Steam Summer Sale 2020: June 25 - July 9

Off topic: How do I get a refund? I mistakenly bought Witcher 3 basic edition instead of GoTY! 😖
Go to the help section at the top of steam. Then click Steam Support and click the title you want to refund. I believe the first option that shows up is "I want to permanently remove this game from my account". Click that and then go for the refund option.

No, you should not click on "I want to permanently remove this game from my account" to get a refund;

Click on ''it's not what I expected''

Many roads lead to Rome.

Also I believe the options that are shown, at the start, depend on date of purchase, hours played and other factors. Just super sayin'.

picked up red dead 2 on my brother recommendation. Fell off the game hard on my Xbox but dam I'm enjoying it on PC, just robbed the bank in Valentine and got caught by the O'Driscoll Boys. Kinda wish I gave this game a better chance earlier, plus side also got my brother to get Witcher 3 too.

I'm looking for a good third person sword combat game. Perhaps something akin to Dark Souls but less difficult, I want to feel powerful and not have to replay shit over and over again. But, I do like the weightiness of Souls.

Suggestions?

Blade of Darkness
Die by The Sword
Games as old as coal... so not real recommendations but I got reminded of them just now

It's first person, But I'd say Mount & Blade: Warband. :messenger_beermugs:

I've been waiting on RDR2 to drop anything more than 20% and I wont buy it if it doesn't. GTA Online has me hooked for the time being

Daymare 1998 is pretty good. Its 70% off. Resident Evil fans should give it a shot. I only completed the first chapter so far.

Man, I had been adding stuff to my cart as I'd come across them or remember with the intent on buying towards the end of the sale. Cart emptied itself at some point and now I can't remember everything I had.

I'll wait for RA2 remaster. Never liked the first one, or at least enver liked it when I was young but times/tastes change, maybe I'll try it. How's Endless Space 2 regarding progression/story? Is it like CIV where you just play skirmishes with AI or does it actually have a story and an end? Do I need to play the first one?

If u want an ra2 remaster u should buy this one :P

Yeah, you can't trust the cart especially if you keep things in it day after day without buying them. The best way to do that would be to add all the games you want to buy to your wishlist and when you are ready to buy you buy them through that.

You can't even really trust the cart to keep the games for just a few hours either.
I spent a few hours to go through the sale list and I had already added 50-60 games to the cart when something happened and the cart was empty. It was really frustrating but luckily I noticed that the huge sale list had "in the cart" (or something like that) marked in the game I had chosen so all I had to do was to scroll the list back to the top and go down the list and see which games had that mark and just add them to the cart again. But obviously something like that wouldn't work in your case.

I don't really care about what videogame journalist have to say, also if i remember well they reviewed a not complete version of the game.

(Not mad at you of course, i was just hoping for some feedback from people who played the game).
I like the game art style and i heard the story is pretty good, i just don't know if they fixed all the bugs etc.
Not a problem, I wasn't bashing. Just looking out for you. I respect your position.

Tell me, did you get it? How do you like it?

No i didn't get it, i saw some video and the loop gameplay is not exactly my cup of tea, i was just curious about the story but i never buy games ONLY for story.

I bit the bullet on fallout 76, always wanted to try it and we can refund on Steam. But actually found out that I really do enjoy that game. Already played it a lot.

I've become so dissatisfied with how you browse steam they think that they fixed it with their Discovery queues and stuff like that but they really haven't the stuff I actually want to buy off and gets buried and I forget it even exist. and now because my library has to be separated by genre I have trouble finding games in there as well especially with their nebulous standards for what counts in what genre. To be fair you can make your own collections and at some point I might feel like doing that but it's all very cumbersome if I want to look up a game in my library I should just be able to hit the first letter of the title and at least be close to it but now that's not true anymore.

Same for me. The sale they stopped doing the quick sale events and replaced the games regularly, I just can't be arsed to discover the whole store myself. I gladly spend like 120 euro if not more on great sales in the past, but now it's more luck if I manage to spend 30 euros.

I find weekend sales more intriguing, as they are shown on the front page at least. I buy more there than through an entire steam sale.

Anyone have a tip for another Metroidvania game in the style of Bloodstained?
I know of Blasphemous and am going to play it at some point, but I just prefer brighter settings and ain't feeling for gritty games.

It's supposed to save items in the cart for something like two weeks, and failed purchases for three days (so you can figure out why it failed and still get the sale price). But I've had my cart randomly emptied too when one of the items in it went off sale. I think it's just a bug.

Blasphemous is an alright game, but it tries too hard to be the "dark souls of metroidvania" and it will constantly try to trip you up with cheap deaths, just like Hollow Knight did, only worse. I had a miserable time playing it and had little desire to clean up the remaining achievements once I completed it (20'ish hours).

Touhou Luna Nights is one of the better MVs with some clever gameplay mechanics. It also doubles as a great introduction to the TH universe.
Same developer is also working on a Record of Lodoss war Metroidvania, but it's still very early access. The first chapter was amazing, so put that on the wishlist and let it stew for a bit.
While I'm at it, check out Wuppo. It's technically a metroidvania with some cute & strange world building.

Grabbed Horizon Zero Dawn and a few cheap or highly rated games before the sale ends.
Annoyingly HZD is grossly overpriced at 49,99€ and 15€ cheaper on EGS (in my region), so Message Sent I guess.

Just a reminder that Recettear exists. I'll keep recommending this game til the day I die. It's an RPG where you play as a shopkeeper and try to flip your wares for maximum profit to local residents and heroes who stop by. Buy low & sell high, or go dungeon crawling for loot. Keep up with the current trends and you can get away with overcharging a lot for the popular stuff. Capitalism ho!

This game is crazy good. For this price it is worth the try even if one does not like it.

It's such a great game that has always left me confused at the lack of a console version.

How's Tropico 6? Is it worth the current price?

I played the shit out of Tropico 3 and 4, but gave up on 5 very fast, I hated that fog mechanic and the focus on controlling troops

Some that might have passed under the radar:

I got the Orange Box for 3.5 euro. I'm going through HL2 e2 and have been having lots of fun. Gameplay is surprisingly satisfying and all the set pieces provide for plenty of different situations to keep the player hooked. I'll be playing Portal next.

I bought all the not terrible vr games that were 70%+ off that weren't already on Viveport infinity. Basically just playing the long game with my huge wishlist. Sadly the Oculus exclusives on their store never go on sale

Final Haul:

A Plague Tale: Innocence
Assassins Creed Odyssey
Coffee Talk
Disco Elysium
Dragon Quest Builders 2
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West Premium Edition
Fallout 4 G.O.T.Y. Edition
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White WItch Remastered
Outer Wilds
Red Dead Redemption 2

I'm good for a long while now. Nice variety too.

I ended up with the Destiny 2 package that comes with Forsaken and Shadowkeep. Playing Reach on the MCC reminded me about how much I love Bungie.

And got Victoria II for free.

Bought too many games before the sale started, so I only got four this time around.

Blaster Master Zero 2 - Blaster Master is one of my favorite NES games. The first BMZero was pretty good, so this should be too.
MindSeize - Love Metroidvanias, but never heard about this one before. Saw the dev thread by Temathael Temathael and decided to give it a try :D
Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition - Thanks KyoZz KyoZz for reminding me of this. Only had the base version without the DLC.
Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator - For when my sister comes over with her kids. Stupid "Santas vs penguins" battles = easy lols.

Guys always take a look to allkeyshop to see if the steam price is actully the lower one (almost never), i saw some absurd prices in here compared to some key sites...

My Summer Sale Haul was:

The Witcher 3: GOTY
Horizon Zero Dawn
Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice
Mortal Kombat X
Resident Evil VII
Doom

I picked up Surviving Mars after it being on my radar for a while.

Absolutely did not expect to enjoy it as much as I did - ended up playing about 20 hours in just a couple of weeks!
