Are the original Fallouts any good? I bought them anyway, along with Fallout 3: GOTY.

Ahhh feels good knowing I got Skyrim: Legendary, New Vegas: Ultimate, and Fallout 3: GOTY all on dailies, which is what I came into the sale for, so it's been a resounding success for me.

Bought a few extra games while waiting on them, too (see. about 100).

Fallout 1 and 2 are classics of the past. As a tip, use the Fallout Fixt mod for 1, it's supposed to improve the performance on modern PCs.

I remember Tactics being fun, but I can't really remember too much about it. It seems like more of a blur than 1 and 2 for me.

I just find the last three teams being at essentially even point values highly suspect. Could that post have enough influence to decide the winning team each day? Possible. Could it have enough influence that the bottom three teams end up as equals? Not sure how likely that is.

*adjusts tinfoil hat*

Well, if the game was in fact rigged by Valve as you seem to implying, that brings up a few oddities: a) why not rig it from the start? to create the pretense of fair competition before getting devious? if so, why not then be far more subtle with the rigging than having a different team brutalize the others every day?; b) it'd be quite a coincidence if Valve started rigging it as soon as the Reddit campaign started; c) why would Valve suddenly decide to change things up in a pretty major fashion by making it so the top three teams win something?

I think the far more likely scenario is that the campaign to have every team rotate in wins had a significant impact and that Valve changed the rules today as a direct, and effective, response to that. Valve also probably loses out on earning potential by having one team as the outright landslide winner every day, because every other team just gives up early on in the day. The more competition there is in this sort of game, the greater you incentivize people to buy point stealing tokens, cards to craft badges, etc, and the better for Valve.

Was looking at getting Call of Jaurez: Gunslinger ($3.74) and saw that it also comes in a bundle with Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon ($6.49).

Now, I already have Blood Dragon on 360, but should I double dip and get the bundle? Leaning towards yes.

fyi Blood Dragon requires uplay if you're not a fan of the service.

Valve are very smart, but they aren't crooks. This whole meta game is just another example of them thinking outside of the box and really shaming all the other major platform holders from a social, interactive and market standpoint. Having said that, the community is very smart too and found a way to game the system so Valve adapted in a very simple way to change behavior patterns.

All told, this is a really cool social experiment and even if Valve changed nothing, they would still make a ton of money on a community rigged outcome.

I fully expect them to try some sort of community point goal like the Dota 2 compendium with various stretch goal awards. Maybe they will do it before this sale is over.

I booted into Windows to install Bad Rats, and it is like Steam is actively telling me not to play it. Every time I try and download it, the download cancels after a couple of MB's and goes to the bottom of the queue, lol.

I played a little bit of Risk of Rain finally. It is pretty awesome, I died after about 10 minutes but I am excited to dig deeper and get better.

It's a great game. Little hint to get you started: Take a look at the in-game achievements menu and focus on trying to do those. Each one you do will unlock a character or item. Some of the unlockable items are extremely useful.

You play levels over and over until you know exactly when to switch polarity to never lose your combo. Welcome to rote memorization!

There's a reason I always call it overrated. It's very pretty, controls are great and it has a badass soundtrack, but the scoring system is so boring.

I can see that. When I played it, I did try working on mastering the combo system for a time, but found it dull. The game's a lot more fun if you completely ignore it and just focus on surviving.

At some point, we just have to accept that the term has changed and morphed into something else. it's "like" in enough dimensions that the community has decided to adopt the term, and it's kind of like fighting windmills at this point!
But the thing is it was not the veteran rogue-like community that morphed the genre, it was the newcomers and misinformed that did this and that plays a crucial role.

Yeah, those three things pretty much hit the nail on the head as far as roguelike classification goes. Those are the broad strokes it has to hit. People who have never played a proper roguelike don't realize that turn-based is so important. All they've heard discussed is the difficulty and randomization, and the only games they've played in a similar vein are the likes of Binding of Isaac and Spelunky.
Ah okay, thanks.
Don't really talk about rogue inspired games to people so I didn't know.

Also to the people who want to are actively looking for new indie games, give Delver a shot if it goes on a deeper discount. Really fun first-person rogue-lite dungeon crawler, despite the store page saying it's fast-pace I didn't really find it to be, although I've only played for about an hour. It has a lot of potential since it's still in early access.

Really wish there were outside levels after going into the dungeon since I really liked how it looked.

I just beat Blade Wolf on normal difficulty after an hour and a half of beating my head against a wall in MGR. Yes, I suck that much at videogames.

Seriously, that boss is a very jarring difficulty spike in the game, and I had to look up guides on the internet to not rely on button mashing lol. The good thing is that I'm getting the hang of parrying (I think), plus now I know a couple of combos with the ninja blade.

Since I purchased Skyrim, I thought I might as well grab a Fallout title. Question is, which one?

I heard New Vegas is the most fun, but that it's also incredibly glitchy.

The game looks great. Had no clue it existed until today. Hope it wins the vote!

Playing Insurgency online now and it seems to be just what I have been looking for since Rainbow Six 3. Though I have only played a few matches.

Btw, do any of you guys have consoles as well or are you strictly PC gamers?

So would you say it's currently worth the price? Is there enough content and are the mechanics fleshed out enough for it to be worth playing yet?

I've been burned by unfinished games enough before to know not to buy them until they've reached a state I'm comfortable with them staying at. I don't need another Towns situation...

There is actually a whole lot more to it. Honestly, the term Rogue-lite is terrible, and people should just stop comparing everything to Rogue, especially when they have never played it, or even any true Rogue-like.

I played the original Rogue when I was a kid, and I still play Nethack from time to time. And I don't have a problem with the term. So tone down the Rogue purist business. We want more people getting introduced to the genre, not less.

I sucked six dicks to get this tag.

New Vegas, just a better game all around from what I remembered struggling through both on PS3

Does anyone know if there's a source for each team color mascot? Can't seem to find one where they're not already overlayed on the map.

Are any of the fallout new Vegas dlcs must have? Are any not worth the time?

Gameplay wise I thought they were all pretty meh.

1. Old World Blues is at least funny and well-written.
2. My 2nd favourite was probably the casino one. The beginning was annoying but once you get into the actual casino things pick up. Decent writing.
3. I can't remember much about my 3rd favourite whatever it was called but I'm convinced it beats -
4. Honest Hearts. Awful. Terrible writing and characters and traversing the terrain was one of the most frustrating experiences I've ever had with PC games.

Be aware that there's so much experience to be gained from the DLC that you'll hit the ceiling long before the end of the game. There are mods for that, but the game becomes too easy to be enjoyable if you go that route.
