You'd have a valid point if I wasn't a fan of the previous Fable games.
I'm not saying you have an anti-Fable agenda or anything, it's just that post has been the main focus of the game for the last two pages or so and I think a lot of people could enjoy the game. I'm just playing devil's advocate.

I'll probably get one or two of the Half-Life games and maybe Hoard if I enjoy the demo. I would splurge and get the HL pack but I'm not interested in most of the games such as Deathmatch, TF classic, and some others.

Thoughts on Magika?

Magika is awesome, especially with friends. It gives you the complete magic system straight from the get-go, and there are tons of permutations of spells you can use. There isn't even really a formal concept of 'mana'; it's just how quickly you can use the different elements on your keyboard to form the spells you want and/or need.

It's less good as a loot game - there's loot to collect, but it's not like a positive feedback loop where you're constantly collecting gold and items and enchantments. If you're looking for something Diablo-y, look elsewhere.

But if you want a game where you can summon a rain storm and then send lightning bolts that do critical damage, or set up heal mines that can heal while propelling you around the screen, or spam death lazers into your friends by accident, it's a blast.

Fair enough (and I edited my post so it's less dick'ish).

For those on the fence about RE5, not only does it run like a dream because of the MT Framework engine, but you can make the game look like this:

instead of this:

additionally watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtZ6GwyMDv8

The ENB Color Mod makes that game a whole lot better to look at.

I wonder what the odds are on the Sims 3 pack going on a deeper one day sale. I'd like to play it now while I have the time off but I would hate to spend extra on it.

Only Super Meat Boy for me today.

For people on the fence about Bioshock 2: if you enjoyed Bioshock, you should enjoy the sequel as well. It has better gameplay, but a slightly less interesting story. But what matters most is that you get to roam through new parts of Rapture :)

Your pics aren't working, but yes. I played RE5 front to back with ENB enabled and it's a better game because of it.

Ok...
I've rented and beaten Bioshock 2, but at $5 I want to buy it so bad for PC, because, ennnhhhhhhhhh.
Also Darksiders is a steal at $5.

RE5 gets too much hate. Although it has been cheaper before, so if people are mad about the price that's understandable.

Anyways, I have most of the games (SMB, PvZ, Magicka, RE5) listed today so it looks like my wallet survives another day. Does anyone know if the Magicka DLC maps are worth it?

My first real steam sale and it get it now. It is really hard to not buy stuff. But today I had to buy the HL complete pack.

So far ~15.-

So, because some of the achievements are bloody obscure in how they're worded, let's get some tips going.

I'll post the ones I have that aren't in the OP...

BIT.TRIP BEAT - Sunbathing
Start a new game from the first level, and don't miss any blocks - it's about 70 blocks, and you can quit out when you get the achievement.

If you managed to get the achievement in Shatter last time around, this is a doddle...

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II: Retribution - Promethium Summer
Play Last Stand as the Imperial Guard General (He looks like Freddy Mercury) and select flamethrower as your weapon, you'll get it very quickly.

'Kills' count as 'you did some damage on an enemy before it died'.
If you haven't played Last Stand before, you'll quickly discover the Imperial Guard General sucks until he's levelled a bit...

AaAaAA!!! - A Reckless Disregard for Gravity - Air. Wind. Sun. Pain. I Am All of This, and Your Mom Makes a Fine Pasta Dinner
I hate this game. Wish I'd never bought it. It's like an unfun Pilotwings.

Choose the new map from the menuscreen (bottom left, sun icon) and try and hit all of the plates without restarting at a checkpoint too often.

You're better off deliberately crashing so that you can make sure you get all the plates than in trying to do a perfect run. Make sure you land in the red circle at the end too.

Swords and Soldiers HD - Vamos a la playa
This is pretty easy. If you've already played this game enough, you can just go to this level and select it, if not its pretty early in the game anyway.

You can pretty much brute force this one just by using lightning magic and heal magic on berzerkers.

Don't forget to send troops along both 'pathways' by clicking on the blue arrows so that you kill everyone (ie do the opposite of how the game suggests you play this level).

SpaceChem - Science is an Indoor Activity
Just do a few of the research net puzzles. If you haven't got far enough just select 'hack into the system' as an option.

I did some of the old ones so that I didn't have to hurt my brain too much with multiple reactors; specifically I did Tunnels I and Fission I and Fission II.

I can post screenies of my terribad solutions if anyone needs :s

Team Fortress 2 - Escape the Heat
Pretty easy to get, just make sure you don't select Pyro, as they don't catch on fire.

I did this by going Heavy and playing on Well, but that's mostly because I hate 2Fort.

Well, you offended me, so gift me Fable 3 and we can put it behind us.

I may have a short fuse but I'd never subject anyone to such torture. :p

After checking the achievements for super meat boy and spiral knights it looks like the achievements aren't up yet. Guess we need to wait for an update on these. The SMB seems pretty vague, spend as little time in hell as possible? Speedrun the entire world?

Also, is Hoard really that good? I'd like to try it but I might spend the $3 on magicka instead (yes, I am a cheap bastard).

Thought i'd be in case it gets lost in the thread, but I bought a 4-pack to get a copy for me and one for the g/f, so I have 2 more copies if you're interested. My ID is PetriesLastWord and my paypal is justin.r.conte@gmail.com if you decide you are, let me know and I'll shoot them your way!

I'd be very, very surprised to see a really good deal on any EA games this year...

About Fable III. If you enjoyed the previous games then you will enjoy this one. Worth the price of admission, but be ready to be frustrated with it by the end.

Not a bad selection today but mostly stuff that I own or not really interested in so I think my wallet is safe.

For now.....

I just bought a new laptop less than a month ago. I've never taken part in the Summer sale, and I can honestly say that I'm enjoying the hell out of this. I've only bought 3 games so far. I can't believe that I've ignored Steam for so long.

I'll add Magicka
Just start Versus mode with 2 local players, get rain and spam rain 'til the achievement unlocks.

So, that's it. Darksiders and Bioshock 2 it is. And if Bioshock 2 end up sucking, I will come back to haunt people who said it sucks because by the powers of the secret you made it suck with your mind!

Is Magicka really that much of a system beast? The specs page makes it sound like something my freakin' laptop could run (2.10Ghz dual core, 4 GB ram, ATi Radeon 3200 running Windows 7).
