Actually on second thought I'm going to host a Hoard and Magicka 4 pack later this afternoon/evening. If you're interested send me a PM and we'll work out the details when I get back.

I wound up with all the Magicka DLC. Not sure what any of them do, but I'm hoping at least some of them are story maps.

Also picked up Darksiders.

Still fuming at myself for missing Super Meat Boy for $2.50 during the last sale.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
My problem currently is that I bought Magicka, but I cant play it even though its in my library. It tells me the transaction is still being processed. But eh, probably will only take a while.

Friend bought Fable 3 at full price a few days ago and was pissed off because the game suck, I just called him up and said yo Fable 3 is 50% off steam sale, he fucking hanged up the phone lol lol lol.....

Yeah I did, got a mindless reply. I legally own it, might as well just pirate it and leave steam support to play with their blocks.

The problem really is now I don't want to buy anything else in case it also doesn't get added.

Don't let that shit go. You have the email proving you purchased the game, take a screenshot of your library list, not that they need it if they have your SteamID from your purchase but do it to be exhaustive, show them the missing entry in your game list. Be firm, be friendly but be firm. You bough that game, their system fucked up, they should be bending over backwards for you.

My DL speeds are fluctuating like hell since the start of the sale. Can't help you if it started before then, but if it's a recent issue it's probably the servers being hammered.
I was getting barely 200KB/s last night, but my speed is fine right now.

Excited to play it!

todays deals are good but shit I just bought darksiders for $10 on ps3 a few days ago. Will get AVP & Bioshock 2 for sure though. I didn't even know Fable 3 was out for PC lol

On that note: pretty much anyone who hasn't bought PvZ yet should probably do so. I haven't seen it mentioned much today, probably because it's simply presumed that everybody has that game on one platform or another by now... ;p

It's a great, great game. You are bound to get your money's worth for that price.

It'd be nice if you could link your Live account to Steam for achievements for Xbox 360 games like Bioshock 2 and BC2. I want the achievement unlocked pop up on my monitor

Judging from Steam support stories over the years, it seems the first tier is composed of, well:

You're right. I will. I'll give it one more day because I already sent a polite yet frustrated email reply to their first reply, but after tomorrow I'll compose a more comprehensive email and I'll send it to a few Valvers till it gets rectified.

Just bought PvZ and Magicka. I can't play Magicka until I build my PC though lol.

Good choices. PvZ was one of the only modern games that would run on the old as dirt laptop I used to rely on for my PC gaming needs. It's a really neat game, though. Popcap are one of the few devs who do the whole 'fun for everyone' thing right.

But you can. Well for Bioshock 2 at least, it's a GFWL game.

Pro-tip folks - if you aren't going to play the stuff you're buying right away, don't try and download it now.

You'll only end up crushing the servers more and getting irritated.

I'm new to PC gaming and have a question: Fallout: New Vegas requires a minimum of 2GB of RAM in order to play, and while I have 2.7 my task manager usually says I am using around 1 GB already, which would mean I have only 1.7 GB available if I play the game. Is that how it works or do all of the background programs stop working when I play the game in fullscreen?

Is there any friggin' save system? It doesn't look like the checkpoints save any of your progress when you quit. And fuck the keyboard controls.

For those who want the Firecracker achievement/ticket for Spiral Knights:

I have three extra Firebrackers, however the achievement is broken right now. I'll get on later and give these away once it's working. I had a few thousand crown and don't really play anymore, so it's yours if you want it.

The Jolly Rover one is easy - you must be at the scene after pup has already tricked Melvin and already talked to the bulldog and is supposed to wake Pete. You have to get the rum (used to wake up Pete) by making the chef slip overboard. It's early in the game (essentially the second scene) so there.

I don't know if it's been mentioned already but regarding the Jolly Rover ticket all you need to do is play from the beginning for likely no more than 30 minutes and you'll get it. It's progress related so you won't miss it.

edit: beaten by seconds!

System requirements typically consider the load imposed by a reasonable amount of background tasks.

What are some must have PC games on steam (apart from HL series, Portal/2).
I am trying to make my wishlist just in case... :)

Not sure if anyone else has posted this, but here's how you get the Jolly Rover Achievement. It should take less than 20 minutes, especially if you read below:

Once you get past Melvin and go upstairs for the first time go to the Kitchen on the left.
Pick up the peppercorn from the cupboard on the left.
Pick up the dried fish on the hook nearby.
Use the oiled scarf on the window to the far left.
Put the dried fish on the hook near the window you just oiled.
Open the window.
Put the peppercorn in the spilled Rum.
Open the window again.
Done!

Idk, it was a meh port, but with a bit of effort it looked like a generational leap better than the console version.

This. I don't like the low res cutscenes (except almost 95% of all PC ports are like this, what can you do) And its missing some important graphics options, but that doesn't matter because you can force AA and AF without any problems.

I was shocked to see at least 2-3 people say they were glad to drop it for the console version. I can understand if you have an older PC, and no controller to play it on but..

This is where they'll lose ground to competing DD services. EA's customer service apparently kicks the living shit out of Steams according to LovingSteamOrigin. EA has better customer service than Valve. EA.

That's 10x my max speed even when the servers are good, so er, I hate you I guess.

:(

Haha, pretty much. I sync at 6~6.5Mbit, but I'm lucky to get over 500KBps with Steam.

Indeed. As for the bold, I'd use the Citizen Kane clap gif that is always used incorrectly if I had it on hand. :p In fact, you could say the erroneous use of said gif has become a meme in and of itself.

Achievements help continued...

Jolly Rover - Bon Voyage

Just play the game from the start, you'll get the achievement for getting the rum you need (this is actually a subquest called 'Get Rum') and watching the cutscene thing.

It'll take you about 15-20 mins or so if you've never played the game before, probably much less if you just use a walkthrough.

EDIT: Ninja'd :|

I've never had Steam before. I downloaded it and bought Portal and Half-Life 2. Oh yeah, I also downloaded TF2. Am I going about this the correct way? ;)

I guess I'll go with Alien Breed 2 for my 3 tickets. Free game is a free game.
That's what I did.

Got my TF2 Sunglasses, my Portal Scuba Gear and now Alien Breed 2.

I still have a whole week left, and already am almost at 4 prizes. Has Valve said if 4 is the maximum number of prizes?

It's an Iranian developed indie game. I've been curious about it since it came out, at 2.50$ I might get it simply to see what it's like.
Did you watch it? It's currently my favourite Quick Look apart from the Kinect launch ones.

Usually the used ram is freed up when you launch a game.

It should be saving your progress when you hit those orbs between levels that let you teleport, if I remember right.

Man, I loved that game.
