Alright, I'm getting a 4-pack for Magicka and Hoard.

Hoard: $2.25 paid by Paypal gift, otherwise it'll be $2.63

I'm new to PC gaming and have a question: Fallout: New Vegas requires a minimum of 2GB of RAM in order to play, and while I have 2.7 my task manager usually says I am using around 1 GB already, which would mean I have only 1.7 GB available if I play the game. Is that how it works or do all of the background programs stop working when I play the game in fullscreen?
It's just a guesstimate by the publisher about what kind of computer hardware you'd need, not an actual running requirement. Basically, they're already calculating the overhead of Windows+a smattering of other programs running when they come up with that number.

In reality I don't think I've ever seen a game go above 650Meg being used or so of actual used memory. Unless you're leaving 3 copies of Photoshop open in the background you'll be fine.

I shaved some seconds off (500 total seems to be right) and I got the achievement the next time I launched SMB.

Man I'm already under 500 seconds. *knocks over magazine rack*

System requirements typically consider the load imposed by a reasonable amount of background tasks.

Thanks! :)

Picked up Bioshock 2. I enjoyed the first one and even without the DLC I'm sure I'll enjoy this one as well.

If you want to play Minerva's Den eventually and you're in the US, you can sign up for Bring Rewards and get some free MS Points pretty easily.

im in for hoard if there is a spot open

Remember VVVVVV saves progress using Flash cookies or some shit like that. If you use programs like CCleaner you'll delete your save.

Boss Doggie

all my loli wolf companions are so moe
I haven't finished SMB so it looks like I won't get it =/

Spiral Knights also seem to be buggy when I try to launch - it keeps on crashing.

Probably Darksiders for me. Potentially Alien vs. Predator, I enjoyed it on the 360, but even then I don't know if I'll play much of it.

By chance someone help me, someone has an extra copy of extra the original HL?

I have all the others (2, episodes, etc.). And played it before but lost my copy, I just need this on steam and I just left alone with six dollars, and I want to buy Terraria

Thanks in advance

Warning to anyone considering Bioshcok 2, PC version doesn't have gamepad support for some baffling reason. I bought it last time it was on sale and didn't know until afterwards.

The PC version also suffers from terrible default mouse acceleration, but there is a pretty simple fix.

http://hardforum.com/showpost.php?p=1035311591&postcount=74

I have my mouse aiming and FOV set perfect for me.

I went into User.ini and replaced all instances of "Speed=2000" with "Speed=500".

This slowed the mouse aiming down and greatly nullified the acceleration. I had to crank the in-game sensitivity up to 5 to compensate. Now the aim is slow enough to be controllable, but not too slow. It's as fluid as any other FPS I've played now. I have a Logitech G500 running at 5700dpi.

So I had to drop it below a sum of 495 seconds across all Hell levels (light/dark), quit the game, then re-launch the game to unlock BBQ Boy.

Edit - I tested this in a moderately annoyed QA process, I'm pretty certain the above is precise.

This is where they'll lose ground to competing DD services. EA's customer service apparently kicks the living shit out of Steams according to LovingSteamOrigin. EA has better customer service than Valve. EA.
Maybe that'll inspire them to crack the whip in that regard.

Trying to get Magickam, Vietnam DLC, Darksiders and Bioshock 3 and steam keeps saying "There seems to have been an error initializing or updating your transaction. Please wait a minute and try again or contact support for assistance." every time I try and get past the payment screen. Grr!

There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call "STEAM".

(I just looked up Jolly Rover, and I already own it. I am experiencing the fear.)

edit: Indie Story Pack. No wonder I couldn't find a specific purchase

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...

Look in your steam library. It did the same to me and now it shows up in the library but I cant start it because "its still processing your payment transaction".

Now I sorta regret preordering Space Marine and getting darksiders for free with it. :')
But now you get Space Marine!

So, is Magicka Complete worth getting for someone who doesn't have friends to play with him online? Still want to get Magicka, or should I just grab the base game + Vietnam + maybe the challenge mode DLC instead for my forever alone singleplayer action?

I've had something similar happen to me all day. Sent a mail to their support, waiting for a response, but i guess they don't work weekends.

Today:
BC2 Pack
HL Complete
Bioshock 1 & 2
Magicka Vietnam

So far:
Just Cause 2
Oblivion GOTY

Total: $43.44

This is the first time I actually pay attention to a Steam Sale, this is going to hurt.

I was considering Darksiders but I already beat it on consoles and even though I loved it I don't think I will replay it. And Super Meat Boy looks cool but it also looks hard as hell so I rather skip that, have plenty of awesome games to play. Hoard just looked boring to me. Already have Magicka so I just picked the Vietname dlc.

Awesome. I just got my third ticket. That's all three from their lame social advertising things. TF2 sunglasses in the bag, and that's the only game I have on the prize list anyway.

Odds on the end of the sale revealing some sort of super mega prize for lots of tickets?

Also finally added Blue Shift and Opposing Forces to my collection.

Does Valve put the Half-Life games on sale often? I'm thinking of just buying the original so I have enough money for Plants vs. Zombies.

Bought Half-Life 1 (never played it) Darksiders and BFBC2. I don't even have a very capable gaming rig, I don't know why I keep buying all these PC games. They're just so cheap ><.

No sale on Risk Factions either... goddammit, EA. I've been waiting for a good deal on the Steam version of Dragon Age too, but that's not gonna happen now I guess.

Does Darksiders have advanced video options or are you stuck with default options? Also 360 controller native support?
OK, Darksiders seems to have the console video options with the additional ability to change the resolution and toggle v-sync.

The 360 controller support is enabled by default, mine was plugged in when I booted the game up and I could use it immediately.

Weak. Summer achievements should be easily attainable by anyone who buys the game during the sale. That's their entire point -- getting people to buy the games. Fuck whoever thought this achievement was a good idea.

Yes, they come up quite a lot. Then again, PvZ was just on sale a few weeks ago, with more off if I remember correctly.

EDIT: It wasn't cheaper actually, it's 1p cheaper now.

Alien Breed is a free game, you could always go for that, even if you don't own any other games.

Also, you should have 4 free tickets if you play TF2, because TF2 has an achievement that gives a ticket, plus the 3 freebie tickets from previous days.

It's no longer on the prize page

I disagree. Then they are just charging you for achievements. Half the fun is when they challenge you and you can work together with friends to earn cool stuff.

Spiral Knights achievement no longer gives a ticket for some reason.

It's gone from the prize page.

I don't think they've updated Spiral Knights with the content that actully lets you get the achievement, based on the current rage on their forums about it.

super meat boy was 3,50 EUR during the winter sale and now its 5€ ?!

tbh. the first 3 days were kinda weak ... probably because I already bought all the games during different sales =P

I see that Dreamfall and The Longest Journey are 75% off.

Anyone have any issues playing either game on Windows 7?

It looks like Dreamfall supports only Windows XP.

Yeah, I've been having a lot of fun with this. I hope they do something similar for the Christmas sale.
