Yeah, that's why I said below-spec or hardware with flawed compatibility. Like you said though, that's where console development really shines.

What I'm getting at is that the flaw is in the game engine at a very low level. Basically no two PCs quite run SMB the same because of how the level props work. I think that probably has to do with why they never repaired the leaderboards, because the competition on them wasn't really legitimate.

I'm dying to know why THQ felt that the Steam userbase would be interested in this game.

There are no steam users with children.

The game is probably shit but there's nothing wrong with having family games and casual games on the service.

Steam needs to add a remorse refund on the last day of the sale, where you can refund one purchase you made for credit and pick up something else.

My RR (remorse refund) would be Lead and Gold at this point.

I must do better.
I bought the heroes pack mainly for HoMM V, but I’m actually surprised by Dark Messiah.

From the little I heard about it I thought it was a mediocre action-rpg with crappy combat, but from what I’ve played it seems to be a decent game with really fun combat.

I was worried about the levels feeling too linear, but there are enough secrets to find that it doesn’t. The combat is just perfectly chaotic with throwing everything I can get my hands on at enemies, kicking guys into fires/spikes/off ledges, and environmental traps to set off.

No no that's not what I meant. There's definitely room for family games on Steam, I'm just curious how well they do (cause I can't imagine it does very well). Does Steam ever release sales data on their titles or do they leave it up to the publishers to reveal that type of info?

Are the Bioshock's worth getting?

Haven't played either of them.
Definitely.

I have to disagree with anyone that says Bioshock 2 isn't worth playing. Granted it isn't as good as the first one, but it's still a very good game that is definitely worth playing and a steal for $5. Pick up both of them.

Hold on, for every ticket we completely we actually have to mail Valve a letter saying we completed that ticket? Wat.

No, you have to do that to enter the contest manually. They basically have to give the option of letting you enter the sweepstakes without buying stuff, so you can send them a letter via mail and get entered without doing all this other stuff. The entries you get via the Summer Camp achievements are granted to you automatically.

It sucks big time.

Every CoD campaign is better than it and the new MoH is too.

Yeah, it's not how I'd want a Bioshock sequel, Infinite seems to be a more ideal form of that, but it was well worth it for $15 and at $5 it's a steal. Especially consider it if you thought Bioshock was one of the best shooters this generation and are disappointed at how most of the rest are just corridor shooters.

Oh, and if you grab it don't forget Minerva's Den, just $10 more!

I seem to remember the final day having all of the daily deal sales at once. Am I just imagining this?

I think they did that for the holiday sale two years ago, but then the last holiday sale was a best of

Also guys buy Football Manager if you have any interest in football/soccer

I regret not getting Retribution for $15 but Amazon has it for that price as a downloadable. And it's Steamworks so the key can be used on Steam.

I grabbed the Valve and id packs, even though I already have the XBLA ports of Portal, Doom 1 and 2, Wolfenstien 3D and Quake III Arena. I'll probably grab the Square Enix, Telltale Games, Star Wars and Unreal packs later on.

Now, I gotta get a PC that can actually play these games...

If I get Half-Life 2 would it be worth it to also get Episodes 1 and 2?

Absolutely. Episode Two is the best FPS since Half-Life 2 itself.

Bentendo said:
And, I hate to ask, but is it important that I buy Half-Life 1 as well?

The original Half-Life is better than Half-Life 2, so, yes! Also grab Opposing Force if you have the coin to spare as it's a fantastic expansion. Don't bother with Blue Shift.

Edit: As far as the overarching Half-Life saga plot is concerned, Half-Life isn't necessary/important, if that's what you were asking.

I wonder if, after the sale, it is worth it for someone to do a "LTTP: whatever you got on the sale". Lots of people playing stuff for the first time.
