Any advice for the 5th map? There isn't a ton of areas for placement, and I just can't seem to figure out how to get through it.

*edit* by 5th I mean the last map you have to do Out of Bullets on.

Teslas are imo the best towers. I put Teslas on the areas that were close (almost directly adjacent) to the path and put lasers on the areas that werent, with a few meteors here and there on area that dont have line of sight.

Halp.

I´m pretty damn sure I gifted my brother the BC2 pack with Nam included for 10€ earlier today. Went through all the motions, I thought, chosing gift through Steam, writing that stupid note etc. He hasn´t gotten an email about it, though. He got the Bioshock gift I also sent today and GTA SA which I gifted him when it was on sale.

How can I check whether I actually bought it besides waiting for my CC details in a month, I haven´t gotten any "you bought/gifted such and such" emails from valve.

I´d be pretty bummed/pissed if that didn´t work and yes, I won´t buy Transformers and Torchlight until this is cleared up.

Update: It´s under the gift tab thingie, but I can´t re-send it until after 24 hours because I already gifted something to him today? That´s what Steam tells me :/

Can I send it to another email adress of his or does the mail account receiving the gift to be the same as the one tied to Steam?

Ok GAF, listen to my dilemma. I have beaten AC1 (amazing game, suck it GAF lol) and AC2 to 100% completion on the 360, but I'm thinking about getting them for Steam as well. This sale has solidified my idea to start migrating to the 'master race', and I would like to have all my favourite games on the PC now. What to do? Is the graphics upgrade worth it?

Also, what is that Sniper game for $4.99? Any impressions?

yes the graphics step up is pretty striking for almost all games on pc (thats if you have a good pc and can play on high-max settings). i think the ac games look great, especially brotherhood

at this price i'd say go for it if you really love the games. or see if you can find the retail versions cheaper.

AC2 on pc looks incredible. It's a pretty significant upgrade, plus it runs at a more stable framerate, least from my experience playing/comparing the ps3 version.

For serious? I just rented Transformers for 10 fucking bucks from Blockbuster (First rental in like 2 years from them) and this?

Never again!

I almost bought the Defense Grid DLC packs, since you can get all four for $0.24 each today, then I noticed that they were available for free with 3 tickets. SCORE!

You gotta be kidding me. Blockbuster charges 10 freaking dollars for renting games?

Up to 18 tickets so far. The only game I have left to get one on is Super Meat Boy. So forget that.

Someone put up a guide for the Defense Grid one. I was able to get 4/5 except for the last one which is hard: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1971026

Guide for Flight Control HD: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1971197 It's not hard.

ARES achievement: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1966767 I destroyed the walker at the beginning. If you mess up, then kill yourself and retry.

For anyone contemplating Torchlight (even people who aren't big Diablo fans, like me), BUY it. I've only spent a little bit with it now, but I can already feel the pull. This game is definitely worth every penny.

Alright, GAF has convinced me. AC1 and 2 for me today (can't wait to see how good they look on PC), will get Brotherhood when it's cheaper. It is such a fantastic franchise, I recommend anyone who hasn't played them, get them now.

Edit: What region has them the cheapest?

What hardware are you running? It's not as easy as just seeing how it looks on PC unless you have the specs to run it well.

Half-Life Complete
Longest Journey + Dreamfall
Plants vs Zombies
KOTOR
Defense Grid: The Awakening

That's that so far. Gonna have to pass on Torchlight I think.

I'm on the fence about this AssCreed bundle - it's £15 quid, while it's not much, I don't want the first game at all. Is it worth 15 for 2 and Brohood? Or would it be better to just spend 10 on the the most recent? Also - how big are they to download?

Torchlight
Defense Grid
Transformers
Arma II Comined Ops

$35

Most damage done so far during the Steam sale.

Went ahead and added Assassin's Creed II to this list as well for $6.

What is this flight control HD I've been reading about on here?

Tropico 3 bought today, Bioshock 2 aquired yesterday. I never bothered with Bioshock 2 before due to mixed reviews and a feeling that I'd already played the best Bioshock, but with 3 coming out and at that price I'd be nuts if I didn't. Looking forward to checkingout Tropico 3.

Bought Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2, and Torchlight today. Figured I'd play through the AC games at some point then get Brotherhood later on. Looking forward to getting some time into Torchlight before the second one hits!

Blockbuster isn't the dirty word in the UK it seems to be in the States. It's pretty strange.

We have Love Film which is much better, but Blockbuster is okay.

You could have got all three for 27$... How much cheaper than 13$ did you want Brotherhood to get!
Also brotherhood is deluxe version in that package (atleast was for my friend who bought the pack)

Why is RDR, the better game, never coming to PC and the shitty one is?

Oh right, because they're trying to make up for poor sales by targeting a different market.

Bullshit, GTA4 came to PC and outsold both.

Bought:

Lead & Gold (Regret)
Medal of Honor - BF3 Beta
Borderlands: GOTY
Just Cause 2

Still Want:
Vampire: Bloodlines (This will either go on sale tomorrow or the last day)
Hot Pursuit (I think this will go on sale for half price)
Blur (Not a priority)
Batman: GOTY (Really want to try this out in 3D)

There are a few others I might pick up if the discount is good enough.

Well this is rather annoying - I've been trying to purchase a game for someone as a gift using Paypal and, at the part where you choose your payment method, it's coming up with the message 'There has been an internal error initializing your transaction' and won't let me go any further.

It kicks up the same error no matter what payment method I choose too. How strange that it would do that before I'd even entered any payment details in, so it's not like it's declining my card for some reason.

Anyone had trouble with this in the past? Or is an e-mail to support the only way to sort it? If that's the case, I might as well abandon hope of picking anything up in the sale!

How are you so sure? Was there something in the slipped in the registry or whatever those files people were mining that suggested this? If so I'm super hyped!

Just my gut.

Tomorrow because it is the 4th of July and the last day because Gabe wants to make us wait.

I'm actually using an iMac in bootcamp. 3.4gz quad i7, with 6970m 2gb, 4 gig Ram. All my other games obliterate the console versions (even though it isn't a gaming pc), so I'm hopeful that AC will look better. Though now I'm worried :(

Yeah, I just bought the pack and while I haven't got them installed yet, my Brotherhood key is "Assassin's Creed Brotherhood - Deluxe".

Bought:
Counter-Strike: Source
Garry's Mod
The Longest Journey
Dreamfall
Eversion
The Path
Torchlight

Want:
Crysis Warhead
Vampire Bloodlines
The Last Remnant
Bully
Deus Ex GotY Ed

I'd also grab Mass Effect and Mirror's Edge if they were nice prices, just for archive reasons.

This.

The best Metroidvania title since Super Metroid deserves your immediate attention. I've triple-dipped ($20 when it released, $15 or whatever when it hit Steam, and once more as part of one of the Humble Indie Bundles) and the game's worth exceeds the total amount spent.

Damn, after reading this, I broke the first rule of Steam Sales - wait until Daily Deals are over and picked up this game. Been craving a good Metroidvania game and this should do just fine. Also picked up Jamestown. I'll justify it by saying I'm supporting indie developers.

Well don't be, that kicks the pants off consoles.

ME on PC only has ingame achievements if I remember right, nothing tied to a gamertag.
