Anyone else having issues redeeming for the Defense Grid ticket? The other DLC seemed to work/redeem just fine..
Did you buy the DLC at some point and forget about it? It won't let you redeem tickets for things you already own.

I really want to bite on mafia 2, but with my anatomy and physiology classes I am just not sure I will have time to play it until winter and hopefully by winter I will have tor eating away my game time.

Those classes can be a bit intensive, although I still spent way too much time goofing off. I managed As, though. I have my Radiography program starting in September, so that is definitely going to eat up all my time.

I completely disagree. Play on easy and it's a pretty damn fun game.

Yeah, it's more than a little janky, but it has nice art and pretty good level design.

For $2.50 it is absolutely a good deal. I played for about an hour and half and got the ticket and I'm definitely going to keep playing.

It's not amazing AAA or anything, but it's like Conan the Iranian.

Just don't try to play it with a controller. The configuration is busted. But it actually works amazingly well with a keyboard and mouse (and I always hate playing these types of games with keyboard and mouse).
You just complimented level design in Garshasp.

This is the face I'm making

It's a very poor game full of linear corridors, terrible character design, a nonsense story, and the epitome of button-mashy combat. I can't fault you for liking it, but nothing at all about it is "pretty good."

edit: fuck my laptop's time was an hour off
Haha I guessed that would be your problem :p

Hopefully PoP is no more than $6 or so. Wishful thinking.

I redeemed it fine a few days earlier. Did you happen to buy the map packs when they were on sale for $0.24 each? The prize and dlc are the same.

Yeah, I did compliment the level design and I stand buy it. Again, that is as a budget game. Obviously that isn't comparing it to God of War 3 or Devil May Cry. Although I think it certainly has more interesting levels than the latter (which is all about combat). There are some cool looking areas in Garshasp and even though the platforming is rough the double jump generally saves it. I like running through the world. It feels less generic than a lot of games.

It is all about expectations and how you approach it. I'm playing it on easy and for $2.50 I am really enjoying it as action adventure game. There aren't many of these types of games made and I've already finished all the God of War games, Enslaved, Castlevania Lord of Shadows, Devil May Cry 4 etc. Thsi game obviously isn't as good as any of those, but for a small team in Iran, they managed to make a game that actually has a decent looking art style and I like many of the kill animations.

For $2.50, there is nothing to complain about in terms of value. If you want to play this type of game, it may very well hit the spot. Like I said it's a little janky in areas and some of the QTE stuff needs better on screen prompts (like the hitting wsad to finish guys), but there certainly is enjoyment to be found in it.

I don't know if the combat is more frustrating on higher difficulties, I imagine it is. But I'm playing it as a fun budget title so I'm blowing through it on easy. And despite a few weird animation glitches, I've had no other technical problems, so the game runs fairly solid too.

Garshasp certainly isn't going to be replacing Kratos any time soon but if you want to play a fun Conan-esque adventure game on your PC on the cheap, this is a good deal.

i (and my wallet) laugh in the face of anyone who thinks this hasn't been a good sale. so many amazing indie games for absurdly cheap prices. i am already completely in love with SpaceChem, Atom Zombie Smasher, and Sanctum.

Frozen Synapse seems awesome (and daunting) as hell too. really need to play more of that and Hamilton's Great Adventure. nifty little game that last one is. getting a gold medal on the ticket bonus level was pretty mind-bendingly fun.

So gonna ask again in the hopes of getting some help. I'm trying to play King's Bounty: Armored Princess/Crosswinds and I'm having a pretty big problem.

I cannot see the introduction video when it boots up, but I can then see the main menu to choose to start a new game and whatnot. Once I start a game however I cannot see the first cut scene, and the main part of the screen is just black. I have the bottom bar of the UI with the mini map and what not, and if I mouse over something its name will pop up but the majority of the screen is just black.

Does any one have any idea on how to fix this? I'm on Windows 7 64x Home Version if it makes any difference.

That's all fair, but my argument would be there are much better $2.50 values during Steam sales.

It's a title I would dissuade anyone from buying. Normally I'm all for supporting the underdogs, but it's such a clearly derivative and inferior game in all respects.

From this sale alone, I've bought Bit.Trip Runner, Capsized, Swords and Soldiers HD, SpaeChem, The Longest Journey, Dreamfall, Star Wars Battlefront II, VVVVV, Zen Bound 2, Guns of Icarus, Alpha Protocol, Zombie Atom Smasher, and more, all for around $5 or less. Garshasp is included in my list of recent purchases, and pales in comparison to all the rest.

Even if you've got to scratch that button-mashy itch, I say Garshasp is a poor choice to invest in.

Hm yeah. It's listed under DLC for Defense Grid (in Library) but doesn't say 'redeemed' like all the other ones and I didn't notice my ticket count decrease. Weird. Looks like this, for reference: http://i.imgur.com/kak8O.png

Hit my download cap with rogers in Canada thanks to steam...

And there's still a day of sales left before the recap, hopefully nothing too good that I'll want to download immediately, even though I know I won't...

Well, what would be a better option? I love SpaceChem, for example, but it's not the same type of game. If you want to play THIS TYPE of game, I don't know a better game to spend $2.50 or even $5 or $10 on on Steam.

I'm not sure how much of Garshasp you've played or how much you like the genre, but I know I for one would sure as heck take it over a game wear you wrap string around obstacles (Zen Bound--which I have on Ipad and find perplexingly boring). I also like the genre a lot more than the point and click puzzle genre, which is a category a lot of your suggestions fall in to.

Again, it depends on what kind of game you want to play. If you have suggestions for better games in this genre on the cheap, I'd actually like to check them out. It is slim pickings for fans of this genre, especially on PC. Still, I think Garshasp could totally scratch that itch for someone. It does for me.

Simply the idea of bandwidth caps makes me rage :|

You're right that there aren't many. But those that exist are vastly superior. The two that immediately come to mind are Darksiders and Devil May Cry 4 (both of which have been dailies). The recent Prince of Persia trilogy also perhaps meets your requirements.

On consoles there are more obviously, with Caslevania Lords of Shadow, God of War, Dante's Inferno, and so on.

I'm not trying to be a jerk and say that it's wrong for you to like it. I'm glad you found value in it. But I don't think many people will share that same view.

I like to support independent development, that's one of the reasons I invest so much in Steam sales. But I also choose to support creativity, and Garshasp is as intellectually bankrupt as they come. I understand it was made by a small Iranian team and that they don't have nearly the amount of resources as most other devs, including indies, but I don't think that excuses the fact that it's simply a poor game.

I don't think it's necessary to preface this with an IMO, because surely that's implied. I don't mean to insult you or your tastes, and I apologize if I've done so. Just don't think it's fair to wholeheartedly recommend the game without a bit of warning beforehand.

I view Garshasp as the Yaris of action adventure games.

The Universe Sandbox achievement is pretty easy. All you have to do is make the mass of the sun "1000000 suns" and everything will be sucked into it. It doesn't work 100% of the time (I had to restart the universe twice) but if you have the game it's a pretty easy ticket to get. I think it works better if you slow the time down to a couple of minutes.

Did you try:

Disabling a second monitor?
AA/AF set too high?
Starting the game in a window?

Just throwing out some ideas.
