LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - In a rare public outburst, Stevie Wonder has blasted Eminem for ridiculing Michael Jackson in a video, and suggested the rapper was hypocritical because he owed his success to poor and black people.
Jackson himself has already lambasted Eminem's video for the song "Just Lose It," which makes light of child molestation charges against the self-styled "King of Pop."

Wonder joined the fray by telling Billboard magazine that he was "really disappointed" in Eminem.

"Kicking someone when he's down is not a good thing," Wonder was quoted as telling the music industry trade publication. "I have much respect for his work, though I don't think he's as good as (late rapper) 2Pac. But I was disappointed that he would let himself go to such a level."

Added Wonder, "He has succeeded on the backs of people predominantly in that lower pay bracket, people of color. So for him to come out like that is bull----."

How is that bashing. He just said he shouldn't kick a man when he's down and that 2Pac is a better rapper. He's right on both accounts. Bashing would have been,"Eminem sucks and he's only haldf the man as 2Pac."

I don't really get what making fun of MJ and succeeding "on the backs of people predominantly in that lower pay bracket, people of color" have to do with each other.

yeah really geez, eminem. You can talk smack about whitey and gay people but start taking shots at someone who is (supposedly) black and you've crossed the god damn line!

Am I missing something here? Is Eminem somehow the first person to ever make fun of Michael Jackson? Gimme a fucking break already...he's been joke fodder for well over a decade now in every medium imaginable. Coming after Eminem for this of all things is simply laughable...he's said far, FAR worse.

Stevie Wonder still rules though.

Not everyone has a video/song about him in heavy-rotation on TV/radio.

considering Michael Jackson hasn't been black and/or poor since he was like 10 years old, i fail to see what that has to do with anything.

But in the end, i find Eminem generally annoying, and Stevie Wonder wrote My Cherie Amour...so ima have to side with Stevie on this.

No, they just host late night talk shows on network TV for 15 years. Or host local, national and syndicated radio shows for over a decade. Or they've been writing glib newspaper columns for twenty years. Or they joke about all manner of things around the water cooler for as long as they've held their particularly gigs. The jokes are still being cracked, and they'll continue to do so until the day he dies. And even then, I doubt they'll stop. Whining about what Em's cracking on Jacko is simply petty shit. Wouldn't surprise me if it was being egged on by Benzino or his associates.

"Not as good as 2Pac" is almost a compliment considering he had to reach that far for someone he felt was better than Eminem.

I don't know what Wonder is thinking, but Eminem doesn't really succeed on the backs of people in the lower pay bracket. He succeeds on the backs of teenagers in the middle class and upper class pay bracket whose parents regularly shell out 60 bucks so their kids can see a shoddy version of the Up In Smoke tour.

The Lower class people Wonder is referring to probably have the CD burned.

Oh well. Do these people know that everytime they speak out against him, he sells another couple thousand more records and just gets thurst back into the spotlight? Someone needs to paint Stevies walking cane a solid oak color...

Agreed alot worse has been said about MJ, about don't you think the little kids jumping on the bed and 'the little boy, oops I meant girl girl girl' joke took it a bit too far especially for G(General Viewing) TV?

Tupac is probably the most well known rapper other than Eminem....I mean who's Stevie going to say Ras Kass, KRS-One, Rakim, Slick Rick, Kool G Rap etc?

Also as for Stevie saying that Emienm made his millions due to black people and lower income people is partially true, he needed a 'ghetto pass' otherwise he would of been seen as the next Vanilla Ice.

Exactly...hell outside of the Benzino/Source stuff, what controversy has Em been involved with the last couple years? Compared to his first few years, he's been a relative boy scout.

Nope...seen it all before. And if I haven't seen it, I've seen it implied. It's no different.

Christ, people still crack jokes about the OJ murders ten years later...does anyone talk about how offensive that is? No. Lighting up Em over this is simply inconsistent.

I love Stevie Wonder's music, but man... how do you get Michael Jackson confused with a poor black dude?

I think Jacko was poor from maybe birth to, uh, 12 or whenever they started the Jackson 5. Weird thing to say though still (besides, wasn't Em poor himself until Dre discovered him and kickstarted his career or whatever?)

And damn if this wasn't incredibly wrong... but SO incredibly funny... who knows how the person who describe Em's video to Stevie did it... that person may have been biased against the video to start.

Stevie rocks, but he's a bit off in his criticism. Eminem owes his success to white people more than anyone else, except maybe Dre himself. Still, I hope he doesn't lash out at Stevie for this, that would be pretty low.

Stevie sure didn't.

Not sure why everyone is on Em's nuts about making fun of MJ. I guess everyone should be on Chappelle for the 'Piss on you' video also. I guess if Dave was White, then people would be speaking out about it. Also, Stevie lost alot of respect from me when he had to settle out of court for doing a Lima and giving a chick herpes.

Hahahaha. That's terrible, considering he could never have seen it in whoever gave it to him.

I just pictured Stevie scratching his balls while doing that thing he does with his head. :lol

Eh, whatever...like I said, look at the list of people he's run down before. What makes Jacko (an alleged pedophile no less) so fucking special?

Of course I say all this, but I still intend to buy his brand new best of CD/DVD package...

57 music tracks on four CD's, plus a bonus live DVD and a 60 page booklet. Gonna buy a set for my sis for Christmas as well.

If I was Eminem, I'd do a music video parody of Stevie Wonder, but with no music and/or dialogue.
