Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

What a travesty this has turned out to be. It's the perfect shitstorm of the game being hyped for a long time and then being released before it's ready, lacking content, and sporting broken online play. Sprinkle in some shitty stealth always-online design and lost progress due to network issues, and you've got one giant cluster of fuck.

I laughed. A sad, sorrowful laugh, but man, it's all true.

I have a lot of problems with the core points of this game that don't include the amazing gameplay.

1. Online. As a multiplayer, online focused game there are still people who can't connect to even get in a Fight ID. It also takes forever to get into a match. On the broadest settings, I was averaging like 5 matches every three hours. While it is understandable that there is going to be a heavy load, there is no reason why a console funded, multiplayer focused game should be this bad. And that's with an excellent connection that was getting matches less than a minute after searching in the beta.

2. Lack of a trial mode, advanced tutorial, or proper explanations for V-Triggers and V-skills. For each fighting game I jump back into I have to get used to the ropes. As for Street Fighter V, there is absolutely no native support on helping players get in basic combos, besides hit confirms I think.

Even V-triggers and V-skills have no proper explanation as to what their effect actually is, resorting players to search the internet and find explanations on their effects and how their V-triggers charge. Same goes for combos, where most combo videos or combo sites only include high execution combos. In general, if they want to build a playerbase for anyone that ranges from casual to scrub.

3. The lack of a character select screen when going online means you have to pause and end your matchmaking so that you can choose "your favorite character" (which will be confusing to many.) This is especially counter-intuitive when you're matchmaking while in training mode. Training for 30+ minutes without getting a match and practicing with your character for the next match only to pick another character you were experimenting 30+ minutes ago is a joke.

4. QOL stuff that makes a game just more enjoyable to go through. Matchmaking/Network options reset to default if you ever go back to the menu. Going through multiple sub-menus just to make a preference change for your next fight. The things I mentioned above. etc. A game, one that is rather barebones at launch, shouldn't be that much of a hassle to trudge through when their predecessors had it done right the first time.

All in all, there's too much stress trying to get into a match and deal with the game. Core mechanics and great fighting aside, I had to stop even trying and will wait until things get better.

Wait, you mean there are server issues?

Anyone else have an issue where SF5 PC is not recognizing their keyboard or controller buttons so you cant even accept the user agreement????

I actually cant even start playing!

When you're disconnected from server you get booted from the game even if it's an offline mode. I'm sorry, but who thought this was a good idea?

It's better than the alternative, which would be people completing 100 fight survival mode....and then noticing that the server went offline 30 minutes ago. Better to know immediately.

It sucks...but, it's a necessity, due to the FM system. Not sure how else they could do it.

Ideally, the server won't be cutting off like this at all once things really get rolling.

Getting booted out of survival/the network, not connecting to a match for 30+ minutes, people reporting they cant even get their Fighter ID etc.
Wait, what? None of that stuffs happened to me, and I've been playing the game for the past few hours.

Matchmaking is just down right now.

Has anyone been able to get into a lobby? Are you still constrained to one character in there without being able to switch?

Because if so…what the fuck is wrong with Capcom?

Can anyone chime in on the Prima guide? It looks nice, but it's probably going to be irrelevant pretty quickly.

I picked it up today. It is awesome. It has 12-15 pages per character of combos, strategies for long/med/short range, etc. The concept art is awesome for the new characters.

The guide comes with a code for an e-book version that will contain updates regarding frame data, balance changes, etc for the first season of SFV (first calendar year).

Edit: Read that as "what". Yeah but there's more than that.

He's being sarcastic. He's one of like, 3 dudes still defending Capcom's honor today.

So I finished the preliminary story. Incredibly short but also sweet. Nice cameos here and there. I am sure the real story patch will be much better. I'm pretty bummed out now though because survival is annoying and the online is still borked. I am on a week break starting next week. The server better not be fucked. I did good to buy a timecard for the new FFXIV patch.

lol no, not defending it. The server issues are a shit show and is pretty fuckin awful. But I'm so used not being able to play online games at launch, this is nothing new.

However, I am genuinely surprised by the amount of people shocked by the lack of single player content. That isn't new information that was just magically dropped.

Lol at people still saying the gameplay is amazing.

That's the biggest problem. It plays like Street Fighter, and yes I like that. But there's a multitude of issues surrounding the basic fighting game mechanics! It's so unacceptable and I can't excuse it all just because I enjoy making quarter circle motions in Street Fighter.

from the little i read, im assuming matchmaking is fucked? not finding any games while training for 20 mins

I played for hours and found only 4 matches.

That said, a lot was in story mode and survival, so it has a lot of moments where it stops searching.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear! I'll see if Best Buy has a copy when I go pick up the game. Very nice that they'd future proof the guide digitally for a season.

They could have the fight money not be tied to the internet for one. Capcom vs snk didn't have these issues and that was forever ago.

Switch them to your favorite character and check your fighter profile.

How long ago was that? Match making was up earlier today but has been completely down for a little while.

Oh EST, sorry.

That'd be from ~9 hours ago to like ~6 hours ago.

I get like 300mbs down.

What's Andy Bogard doing here?

Still only show my highest leveled character

I wish to know how to check it

FInished the story mode for all charcters, and got disconnected from the server around 8 or so times. Capcom really needs to fix fix this issue before its too late.

2 hours no fights, I am sad face. Can somebody link me too and add me to the Gaf steam community? I'm looking forward to getting my ass beat by the best of gaf once the servers get working.
