Cross posting from the FGC noob thread since it's not too active right now

So put in about 2 hours of practice tonight in SFV, I can execute all the commands for Ryu basically 90% of the time....but only when I am on the left side of the screen. When I'm in the right side that drops to 50% execution at most, for some reason I find my coordination moving the stick to the left (towards the CPU) is far worse, and it seems that most of the commands require that "forward" motion in some capacity.

To be more specific I just tried Ryu's uppercut move (Forward, Down, Down-Forward) and I did it 5/5 on the left side of the screen (where forward is to the right) and 0/5 on the opposite side.

Is this a normal thing?

Yeah, this is a fairly normal occurrence. I think most new players suffer from this. You fix it by practicing on the right side. What I did when I was new was use a command until the dummy was pushed to one side of the screen, then jumped over them and performed the command until the dummy was pushed to the other side. Repeat until you feel comfortable with the command. This goes for all of your combos, as well.

Karin players, when should I be using her V-Skill? Is it even useful? I never use it and I don't think I've seen anyone else use it.

Like others have said, it's good in juggle combos. It works pretty well as a mid range poke when you've established that your opponent can't jump at you, and certain knockdowns let you do a meaty strike, which still builds you meter.

I just played a ranked game using my Saturn pad as it's a bit late to be using the arcade stick. Holy shit, what a mistake that was. I didn't know your win streak and rank continue despite picking a different character, I mean, it makes sense but I wasn't ready to see my win streak go away

I thought Oro was from "Unknown" like Bison.

I'd normally look it up, but in a fit of laziness I'll just go off memory and say he's originally Japanese but moved to Brazil and has lived/trained there for a good long time.

Even when you work on it, you might still have stronger execution on one side. My execution is largely fine but facing left is where it shines.

Funny thing is, when I started out, I was stronger facing right. Think I practiced the other side too much, lol.

I've always been a charge character player so im having trouble going from crouch fp to shoryuken with ryu.

I can buffer quarter circle from a crouching attack but having a bad time getting shoryuken to work.

Should I be inputting forward, down, fp, down-forward , fp, or just down+fp, f, d, df, fp quickly?

I don't remember if there was an off option, but you could change it to character music and select individual themes that you wanted to play.

27 rounds and Zangief finally got me. Survival mode is legit.

The look of the characters feels odd. Like they're still anime CG style, but light effects hit them proper and they seem to have this.."Wooden doll" look to them. Reminds me of SW: The Clone Wars a little bit.
