I really, really despise Hell Survival mode.

Anyway, I came up with a way to make Hard/Hell Survival mode go a little faster and be a little easier. Of course, Cammy at 71 (I believe) decided to punish every block SRK with a full combo so that's where my run ended but I think this strategy makes the run more doable.

Basically, just do MP Shoryuken with Ken like the other exploit tells you to do until your opponent is in the corner. Once you knock them down in the corner, jump up and go for the following combo:

j.HK, HP xx HP SRK/EX SRK

Not only does this do a lot of damage and stun but most of the cast can't really do anything about it. If they block just do MP SRK instead of HP/EX as the AI is less likely to punish that. If you mess up the timing they MAY dash out and you'll be stuck in the corner. I've also seen Ryu anti-air SRK me as well as Laura doing her anti-air elbow, but this is very rare. I think if you time it right they won't bother anti-airing.

As soon as you land from the MP SRK, you should jump so that the j.HK lands as late as possible. If they didn't quick rise, just land and jump again. That should put you right when they're starting to wake up which gives them very little time to react. I'm not sure if the different characters have different get up speeds so that may affect things.

I haven't lost a match yet where I get them in the corner. Unfortunately, around 70 the AI becomes a beast and starts punishing things the last 69 opponents wouldn't.

Yeah, I did this and died at 83 or so to Necalli who goes apeshit.

Also lost on Hard around 45 to Gief who would actually punish DPs. Everything is so random that it's annoying as hell.

I hope Capcom makes this easier or someone finds a better way to cheese the AI. I liked Survival so much better in SF4 where the AI kept trying to focus Zangief's spinning lariat.

You must be really lucky then :P I have really good internet so it's not that but I've been disconnected three or four times today alone.

Weird how it hasn't happened to me in a while. I've been expecting it to happen while reading this thread the last few days but it just hasn't happened.

Just had a really good match against a Gold Nash. This game is so satisfying when you have 2 players respecting each other.

Yes, that's how it should be. Just like the old days in arcades. You respected your rivals even though they were your enemy once the round started. That's one thing about most of the FGC in general. Most people respect each other. I don't see that as much in other genres, at least it doesn't seem to be as prevalent.

Different people are having VERY different experiences with this game. This has been going on for a while. I have't been disconnected since the, fairly disastrous, first day. My internet isn't amazing, either. I am at six Mbps up and one Mbps down.

Log in: 2 minutes

Search for ranked match: 4-5 minutes

Load screen to get into match: 1 and a half minutes.

Disconnect before match starts: fuck.

Load screen to get back to lobby: 1 and a half minutes.

It's horribly laggy.

This game is not worth your time if you want to play online.

Huh, do you have any footage? I'd like to see how to do it :)

Uh don't off the top of my head but here they are

Midscreen:

Ropethrow, backdash, forward dash, Airplane
Ropethrow, backdash, max charged HK, EX airplane

In the corner you can do the same, but you don't need the backdash.

The reason for the backdash midscreen is it causes the screen to scroll, and it causes your opponent to hit it and stumble back into you.

Linking from a crouching normal into a DP is so hard as Ryu for me. Any tips on how to execute this? I can't for the life of me do it with any consistency.

Specifically trying to do

cr.MK, mp.Shoryuken
and cr.MK, mp.Shoryuken

Just encountered my first rage quitter. A first-time player by the looks of things (0LP, 0 player level, 0 character level), but I suppose that could mean they've been quitting every single match until it looks like they're going to win one...

Feeling pretty comfortable with Mika online now. Not winning a ton of matches, but I'm not getting absolutely bodied by anyone anymore!

That is not my experience.

That is not my experience.

Same. I hate to keep repeating myself, but I think it is important that people know how incredibly smooth it is running for some of us.

My experience is more like...

Wait 30 seconds for match (sometimes it is closer to a minute or so).

Wait 30 seconds to load match.

Have incredibly smooth match that feels like local multiplayer.

Rinse and repeat.

What problem are you having, specifically?

I know for me my inputs on that aren't clean enough, so a hadouken (or even worse) a super comes out instead. I need to be really deliberate in ending the motion on down-forward.

Like MP, cr.HP, Shoryu is a real pain in the ass for me.

This has been my experience since yesterday as well, apart from one laggy match this afternoon. It looks like they've sorted everything out.

It's been pretty perfect for me too after day one. On PC in Australia might help with that since the servers aren't overloaded in our peak hour.

I've had three instances today where I've been beaten and gotten the "Could not send results to the server" message in the post-match stats. In that situation, is it likely just me who gets that problem or will my opponent get that message too and think I'm a rage-quitting scrub? :/

I am in Japan, so maybe there is something to that. That being said, I am playing plenty of Americans.

*edit*
Wrong quote. Whoops.

...that makes us folk with unplayable messes since day 1 real happy :)

It's weird hearing people say they keep on getting disconnected seeing as I haven't been disconnected since Tuesday.

People in different areas are having different degrees of connectivity. I'm in central California and I've been able to stay connected/get games pretty easily since the day after launch. Other people elsewhere are still having no luck, getting a match an hour if not less.

Different strokes.

I wouldn't stress. If the person rage quits it usually says something like "Lost connection with user" iirc

I'm in Australia on PC too. Just spent three hours to get 1 match.

The frustrating thing is that the beta was so good (after the initial fuck ups).

Sigh, back to arcade...trials... Umm survival mode.

I'm just gonna play CS instead, I've done everything outside of plugging my ps4 directly into my modem and moving back to California to get their shitty server situation under control. This game's closed server system has looked like a laughably amateurish rush-job since the first beta.

I'm trying so hard at Survival mode. So hard... so long... At least I'm making more consistent progress. Soon I'll never have to touch it again.

Searching for my first ranked opponent. Guess things are still hitchy, 'cause I've been waiting for 5 minutes now. Guess I'll go back to Survival...

Just sat down to play myself and not having a great time of it. Matchmaking time isn't as horrid as the 5-10 minutes I was having for most of my first (12-game) session, but it's still slower than the last betas, and way slower than the last few games of my first night which were basically instant. The 4-5 bar connection setting is still occasionally connecting me to people on the moon. And I just had a *ranked game* that started up and neither of us had any stats. It just said "---" for everything, and then at the end it failed to send results to the server.

Might just go read or play some XCOM :\

edit: Now I'm logged in as someone else. What the actual fuck, Capcpom?
