I don't want to play survival mode because it would make my level lol too high and I'm not good enough at this game to have level 100+ next to my name.

So glad they allowed you to earn FM in casual matches. The caliber of opponents is hit or miss (we have battle lounges for that), but I historically find less rage-quitters there. And until they make adjustments for disconnecting, I want my money for winning.

Rage Quits are the funniest things. I wish I could record every once I've had because honestly, beating someone in a close match is a great feeling but nothing feels better than making someone rage quit. They're literally running from the battle.

Since they have no penalty, it's probably not even rage. Just a calculated move to keep their LP and go for the 4k trophy.

I just started playing Casual now and man...these fights are so much more relaxing/easy. I don't think I ever want to touch Ranked again.

I always log in and win my first ranked match, then get over confident and get bodied the next 2-3 games before I get tilted off the face of the Earth.

I really need to learn another character other than Ryu..

Maan just had a really close match with a Karin player. I was finally blocking her get-behind vtrig rekka move but then wasn't doing anything with it.

I have a winning record with Cammy in ranked matches, but I am dedicating to switching to Chun Li as my main for this game. I have a terrible record using Chun Li, yet I will put up with this learning curve. I need to do better damage on my punishes, and be better when applying pressure. This will come with practice. It's too bad I can't spend too much time on this game for the next little while.

I hate ranked matches at the moment. When I'm beating someone there's about 50% chance he'll ragequit on me.

It even happens in casual matches but less frequently.

Yeah. I didn't rage quit Xevren if that's what you were thinking...

No worries man, and you definitely don't suck! I play with a local gief that gets me pretty good. Try messing around with his vskill to absorb a hit then just hit me after. Forces me to really think about when to push buttons.

By the way where are you located? Just curious cuz of the lag, game felt lagless and it was great.

And I really have to play a bit with Laura and Karin to understand the match ups..... But I really don't want to. Especially Karin, such a boring character.

There is one circumstance where disconnecting is (in my opinion) perfectly reasonable - when the match is playing out like a slideshow. No one should have to play through that.

I feel like I'm probably alone in this but is anybody listening to your own music while playing?

I've been listening to Death Grips while playing online recently and it's been great.

I'm in NY. School's wifi so it's pretty solid.

I only just today learned how useful his focus was.

I always have some background noise. Something like red letter media or the mgsv soundtrack at the moment.

Same. I started doing that for street fighter 4 since the soundtrack was awful. And now it's a thing I do for pretty much every game. Turn down the sound completely and play some YouTube videos.

I decided to check out Death Grips...

Jesus Christ, kid...

I can't remember now who suggested it, but whoever it was that mentioned the AI in survival was utterly clueless about Karin's ressensha? Thank you! :D
I don't even know Karin's moveset and yet I easily cleared easy and normal with her by just getting in then spamming light ressenha with the sweep extension over and over and over again. Even in the last few levels the AI was utterly helpless in the face of it (they'd sometimes block the ressensha itself but go on to be hit by the low anyway).

Kinda makes me feel bad for finding completing normal survival with Mika such a horrific ordeal :/

I just had a party tonight with about 20 people all playing SFV in my house, and I have to say: all my issues with the broader context and content of the game melted away. The overall problems people are having are legitimate, but it was nice to spend hours enjoying the game and having a blast with a group of people where everything apart from playing great one-on-one matches was irrelevant. It was an excellent way to enjoy the best feature the game offers: well-tuned fights that have both depth and accessibility.

Won a few casual matches (I'm still terrible) so I tried ranked for the first time. Got destroyed three times in a row quite convincingly. The difference in skill from casual to ranked is steep. Anyways, I felt bad because after I lost one of the matches an error code came up at the results screen and I think it seemed like I rage quit. Hope the person realized it wasn't a rage quit because I had no points and nothing to lose.

All I'm trying to say is that some of these people may not be rage quitters and I hope it restores a bit of your faith in humanity.

Yep tonight's been by far the laggiest I've ever had with this game. Wild.

tonight is the first night I have experienced lag. I went on a losing streak against a bunch of shitty Ken's. It's fine because I'm shitty too but the lag was really messing up my blocking against endless dps. The games were all super close 3 game matches. Damn this game and it's addictive nature, I couldn't go to bed until I won a match.
Was finding matches super quick, though.
