Street Fighter V |OT| No Options to Select

I'm more upset about the 2-player limit to lobbies than I am the lack of vs CPU options. I would like to be able to play with all my friends at the same time. Fortunately, we know true lobbies are coming but it's still a hype-killer at launch.

My body is ready...

Nice setup.

Dat R.Mika though.

Well, that's the point. They're not judging the entire character, they're purely discussing aesthetic fanservice in this game vs. others. Laura's gameplay has nothing to do with the conversation.

Yep, this. Her mechanics are probably amazingly well-designed.

I'm super interested in the gameplay, but I just can't get over the designs.

I'll jump in eventually, when everyone has great alts (hopefully!) and the season pass comes bundled.

Great OT! Thanks for the hard work.

I'll just repeat some of my concerns from the other threads here, if only because not many others seem to mention them (or care about them?) even though they have greatly dampened my personal excitement for the game these past days.

Please keep in mind that I'm not stating that the game should have been delayed for any of these features as I do understand the importance of getting the game out in time for the Capcom Pro Tour and hungry competitive players. I'm simply stating that I'd like to see these features be added (to the roadmap) in the future since the current lack of them makes the game feel inconsistent and even cheap in terms of its artistic design and presentation.

I will also applaud anyone who comments on my post without falling back on argumentative fallacies like "I don't care about single player stuff / intro cinematics / stages, so who else in their right mind could be asking for them?" - even if I never played online, I still would be bummed out for other SF fans that do prefer this if the game ended up with lacking online features.

My issues:
- The game currently has no real title screen or attract mode (it jumps to the main menu and stays there, which to me feels odd);
- The CGI opening cinematic shown a few weeks ago is not shown in the game anywhere (only a very short, compressed version of it the first time you boot up the game) despite past SF games having this;
- Only one stage (Bustling Side Street) seems to ended up having transitions and interactables despite most stages seemingly having modelled sections on their sides (that in some cases are even shown in a character's art as it we should be able to access it - like Nash and the cave on the right of the Forgotten Waterfall, or Birdie and the subway section of the London stage), which not only seems very inconsistent in terms of stage design but also is somewhat misleading to customers when these were one of the things Capcom chose to highlight upon first unveiling the game;
- The Versus mode is wholly undercooked as it does not allow you to pick a CPU opponent or choose CPU for both players to see the CPU battle itself (a feature I always enjoyed - yes, really);
- Since there is no Arcade mode, there also is no real boss in the game (yet, as this might be coming with the MK style story mode) nor any post game win screens or dialogues between characters;
- Not all characters have a stage that corresponds with their official art, which again is inconsistent (but hopefully these will come later as stage DLC has been mentioned).
- Since Fight Money is (understandably) tied to Capcom's servers, I can't help but foresee cases of people losing their FM due to server issues and this will frustrate me greatly;
- While there are some alternative versions of stages featured in the story mode (like a night version of the Forgotten Waterfall), currently there is no way to select these manually anywhere despite the stage select screen showing time of day and weather info for each stage (I have some hope that this will come later as well).

While people are correct that Capcom will be adding much stuff down the line, currently neither their roadmap or interviews mention specifically whether they'll add things like an Arcade mode, Versus CPU mode, stage interactions for other stages, an (skippable) opening cinematic, etc. As such, it remains unclear if SFV will ever have some of the things that a fan like me appreciates even more than solid online competition and training modes: a memorable and polished overall presentation and a plethora of offline modes, i.e. things that most past SF games did have in spades.

All that said, I am still hyped enough to keep a close eye on how the game will be developing these coming months and I'll definitely play it a bunch as soon as my FM will stop to disappear (i.e. when the launch is official).

oh thats fucking great, my hori fightstick 3 is not working with sfv, although it works pefectly fine with usfiv... i just had to buy a new car, so no money left for things like a fucking arcade stick when mine should work...

Already have it preloaded on to the ps4. Can't wait to get my ass whooped since I'm straight casual.

Also I don't have a problem with them releasing it right now incomplete and all since this has to get out for the Pro Tour.

Bustling Side Street is literally the only stage with interactions and stage transitions...? WOW. I thought that stuff would be hidden and cool to stumble upon.

which version? there's ways to get PS3 sticks to work on both PC and PS4... no need to buy a new stick

Godlike OT.

I likely won't be able to join the fray til the end of the week... But I'll be stealing plenty of time at my local lol

PC or PS4?

If it's on PC use x360ce to setup a wrapper.

If it's on PS4 make sure you authenticate with official DS4 in options menu.

The solution has been stated about 10000 times and probably needs to be put in the op. Direct input is not support at launch. Use joy2key, or x360ce.

Was anyone in NYC able to get this anywhere? I have an Amazon preorder, but that shit isn't getting here until next week :(

I want to go out right now and buy it somewhere so I can play ASAP...

100k

I have a question:

I noticed that FANG's c.hk is two hits. Does he get the hard knockdown on a crush counter, or does the crush counter only work on the first hit?

Both hits can CC, and if the first hit does the second hit will as well (if it connects, the second hit actually whiffs at absolute max range of the first hit).

A very informative post. Thanks for taking the time to write this up.

Do you think it's fair for companies to charge $60 for a glaringly incomplete game? We aren't talking about just waiting on spectator mode or something, we are talking about multiple standard modes being omitted. And they are charging $30 for a season pass on top. Now, granted, that covers the DLC characters that you can earn in-games, but they specifcally said that majority of Fight Money is earned via the SP content - which is noticeably lacking.

Check out this quote and its subtext:

"If you play through all of the single-player content, or just a majority of it, you should be able to earn enough money to get the first DLC character for free, if not more money on top of that," said Dahlgren.

To me, that is saying that earning the first character is fairly easy. Every character beyond that is going to be more and more of a grind. You'll have to be very diligent and pretty good, because you have to play and win in Ranked to earn Fight Money online. Capcom clearly expects some people to break down and pay up.

Now here's my biggest problem with charging $60: the people willing to suffer through the meager times are the ones that pay the most. By June, at the release of the Cinematic Story Mode, after a bunch of content updates and several new characters, a new player will be easily capable of finding the game for $40 or less. So waiting means more content and more features - and more polish - for a lower price. Basically the game's biggest fans are footing the development bills while late-comers reap the benefits.

If you're going to use a League of Legends model then that's fine. But League of Legends is FREE. I'm not saying SFV should be free, too. But it shouldn't be a full-price $60 game either. And it shouldn't be asking for a $30 Season Pass on launch day, either. Seems like they are selling two Season Passes, really.

Bustling Side Street is literally the only stage with interactions and stage transitions...? WOW. I thought that stuff would be hidden and cool to stumble upon.

Okay, maybe I should have added the caveat: "as far as we now know" since some might be hidden well, but apart from that: yes, only one stage seems to have them despite most stages seemingly having actual modelled sections on their sides that we possibly could enter.

It will be interesting to see how many reviews will even mention this omission actually, since the reviewer would have to have paid attention to old coverage or stumble upon them in Bustling Side Street to really notice it. I've not seen an interviewer ask about them either for that matter. A shame, because I really like how they make the stages feel more elaborate and alive (without disrupting the flow of combat or altering the stage length).

Why would you buy the seasonpass except for costumes? Anything gameplay related like characters can be gotten by playing the game.

They never said the majority of the fight money is earned through single player. They said if you play through the majority of the single player content at launch.

And yeah, I think it's fair. I think it's awesome that we're going to get 6 characters that, from early reports, will be super easy to earn in game. Beating story mode and survival mode on easy with all characters will get you enough to buy almost all three characters. Doing more, I'd guess you'd have enough for 4-5, and this is before trials and tutorials are out, along with the daily missions or whatever that turns out to be, and without touching online vs. even once.

Honestly don't understand these complaints. I think people worried about how difficult it's going to be to unlock characters should take a look at what people have posted and wait until March to see what all rewards we can earn.

If you don't think it should be 60 bucks, then wait for it to drop in price. Although, with Amazon, GCU, and GMG, if you're paying 60 bucks (in the US, anyway), then you're not looking hard enough.

But why??? There is literally no incentive. You paid $90 for a very incomplete games. Has Arkham Knight taught us nothing?

Because I want the outfits.
Because I value my time more than money and don't care about single player stuff to earn tons of points.
Because I want to support a game that I've already played many hours of.
Because Capcom is not WB.
Because I know exactly what I'll be getting with the season pass.
Because if I go by your definition of "incomplete," this game will ALWAYS be incomplete until its final update, and by showing my support, hopefully I help make sure the game remains incomplete for a long, long, long time.

Looking at the DF video, I'm impressed with how much nicer the PC version looks. I was expecting to just have better antialiasing and that's it. Kinda sucks the motion blur is so bad, especially after IV'S motion blur was so damn good, but I'm willing to bet it comes from using Unreal 4. They're forced to use the blur the engine comes with, and not able to make their own shader for it and use that.

To be fair, there is a detailed schedule of the characters coming out in which month so at least one knows what they're getting.

If someone is a big fan of the series, knows they want the announced characters, and doesn't want to grind fight money (or knows they don't win enough online to unlock them all) nothing wrong with grabbing it.

I'm holding off as I'm just trying to get into SF again, so I don't want to commit before I'm sure I'm sticking with it. If I don't get into it, I'll grab MKX Kombat Pack 2 instead.

Videogames NY and J&L gaming has it. Call ahead tho to confirm if they still have stock.
