The server troubles are expected, but what isn't is server disconnects knocking the player back to the menu regardless of what they're doing. It makes even single player (since you can't play online with crashes every few minutes) a pain in the ass. You don't want to be that guy on the 50th survivor mode match who gets disconnected at the last second. Worst of all Fight Money can't be obtained while disconnected from the server. SFV is currently like a semi always online fighter in a weird way.
I see, well damn... I guess I'll give it a try later tonight to see if I can at least hit training mode (gotta practice with my girl Chun-Li).
 
Wow. 4 Betas and multiple stress tests and the online doesn't work on launch. I am amazed at the incompetence.

It's funny, because in an interview, they said that they were very sure, that the launch would go smoothly and that there wouldn't be any problems with the servers, after they had all of their beta tests.
 
Was on the fence on this and frankly, all these issues mentioned on here coupled with the content gaps have convinced me to hold off on this till June. If everything was perfect bar the content blips I would have invested. The Beta was great to play when it worked, all these issues sounds not far from my experience IN the Beta. Which is majorly annoying.

Pick it up in June for around £30 tops with all added content between now and then + server issues fixed. Winner
 
SFIV and Ultra on 360 worked beautifully and on PC were even better [whatever the hate, GFWL did its fucking job there]. The SFV PC network is garbage. Slow like shit and not even able to make me complete a game.
 
You could disable Vsync in Street Fighter 4, and I know lots of people did that since driver level Vsync had less input lag than the ingame one. No way to tell here I guess.
 
Man leaving on ranked for 5 minutes and nobody to play. This is getting tiresome. I did not expect it to be this bad opposed to beta which was smooth.

The only good thing about the lack luster story mode is how easy it is to get Fighting Money. I got 30 000 now from only doing 3 of them.
 
These server issues are bullshit. They really should have had save states for the FM so people don't lose it. Or a way to submit it to Capcom to prove you have a certain amount or something. People are gonna lose their shit once they can't get Alex from this week's play.

A patch will come, but fans shouldn't have to wait for that shit to happen. The system was horrible from the very start - a reliance for online when single player elements are still on is a recipe for disaster. I don't even wanna try the other modes besides Versus and Training, because I don't want my FM to get wiped, and I only get an hour or so before I have to trek to work.

So I'm a little irate that they relied on being connected to single player things.

That all being said, this game is fantastic. Someone posted a Nash video about him stealing meter, and that's the kind of shit I love to see - new tech that isn't about being broken but opening new possibilities to how a character can be used. I'm sure some broken shit will drop, but it's always great to see videos like that crop up on the first week as people explore the game.

Despite the issues, the game is totally worth the money for me. Maybe not everyone. Hell, if I was more interested in the rest of the coming package I would have waited, but I already see myself plunking in too many hours this week alone. Let's go locals.

Anyway, I hope the online stuff gets cleared fast and people get a little compensation.
 
not sure if its been asked but does anyone know how to change the battle bgm from stage to character?

You cant. Where are you listening the stage bgm? Training mode? Survival plays the character BGM, online modes too. I actually want to listen to the stage bgms because all I hear are the character ones.
 
Won a match, "data can't be retrieved" or whatever, get no fight money/experience.

this launch is shambolic. Feature incomplete or broken, pick one.

The fucked up servers isn't so bad on launch day, that shit does happen. I'll never forget the PS4 launch of BF4. *shudder*

The lack of some very, very basic features- like SNES-era features - is far more concerning, as is the reliance of an internet connection, that stays connected, to earn FM. That, and tieing alt colors to a grueling slog of a grind in a really boring mode (Unlock now with season pass! Just $30!) and dishing out paltry FM for ranked wins. The latter is especially terrible considering how few players will be able to quickly garner those wins, especially if they are newbies, and the fact that rage quits incur zero penalty and rob you of your Win and FM.

Please also remember that if you pre-ordered on PSN you were stuck even after the more recent details emerged. No cancellations or refunds.

And I don't think expecting VS CPU or standard Arcade mode is expecting too much for $60. Those aren't even on the road map. Bigger lobbies and an extensive tutorial mode at launch really would have gone a long way too.
 
Why do I get the feeling the betas were more for testing the average rate of accumulating fight money for dlc prices... rather than actually testing servers?

Because you're paranoid? The average rate of collecting fight money across all players is 25 per match. You don't need a beta to tell you that.

you realise the servers are completely fucked, and its using the same network as PS4 this time, its all connected
 
Man, I'm honestly impressed at how much I enjoyed playing Survival, especially since you can enable fight requests, and change your settings on the fly.

I'll definitely unlock my orange Karin tonight >_<
 
Survival mode let's you join/find matches and returns to the stage level when you left.

One servers are back easily just grind it out in between games. It's fun. I like the attack power supplement and just smashing out a 70% combo with ease lol
 
What are the buttons for player 2 on keyboard? Want to set a second profile on xpadder if one of my friends bring a dinput controller.
 
Typical launch for a game relying heavily on online infrastructure. Just give it a day, or two or three and I'm sure it will be all okay.
 
I can deal with the online issues as I doubt it'll take long to get it sorted out but the framerate issues are extremely upsetting. Its really frustrating when the game ran fine during the beta and at offline events. What happened

people want to vent their frustrations at not being able to play what they bought on day 1. It is completely within their right.

I played way too many mmos, or online games in general, to see the forrest from the trees so to say (hey guys remember Diablo 3's launch? That game is fucking amazing these days) but I completely understand those that cant, or simply dont want to

Anyone in EU wanna swap a Ryu code for a Cammy code?

As in, you get the Ryu and I get Cammy.

Pretty sure PSN DLC codes work across all of EU, do for most games.

I only noticed in shadoloo base so far. are there drops in other stages?

Survival mode is actually pretty neat to do while you search. No load screen per match makes it a lot better than training mode for me.

That is when the servers are actually working correctly. I got to the 25th game and got kicked :(
 
Yes there are 4 or 5 pages of auto completeled messages you can send to a player in battle lounge. Otherwise there is no chat function that allows you to type and call the other players bad words!

You serious!? I were under the impression we would be able to do normal chatting, and have a fun night together in lobbies, chatting while fighting. Ugh. They should patch it in.
 
They should flesh out Survival Mode. This shit is actually really addicting despite how simple it is.

I was thinking the same thing. It has a nice press your luck mechanic in place. If they had filled it out a little, and done a better job with presentation it could have been a big step in making the single player content feel more fleshed out. Add a freaking Arcade mode, which is easy as pie, and you are set until the story mode launches.
 
Fuck me, one punch away from my first ranked win (out of four matches that actually connected) and the game disconnects!!! Argh.

It's a good game mechanics wise from my mucking around one training mode, but fuck me it's been a frustrating launch day.
 
So far my experience hasn't been too bad. Just playing through character story mode. I get disconnected after like every 2 characters but I just connect again and it's good again.
