I never used a stick, but thinking about buying a hori rap kai 4, i want to learn so i can compete online, do you think its wasted money or is it well spent money, i think i will sink a lot of time in sfv, love the game, its awsome =)
If you're comfortable with a pad, you can get good with it. I play shotos on Ds4 and fair pretty well. Luffy won at grand championship at Evo with a DS1 (yes original PlayStation pad) so a stick is not necessary to be good. I've heard chargers are easier on pads as well.

So my stick has 6 face buttons but I don't have that many fingers.

How do you guys arrange your fingers? Do you use the thumb?

You dance your fingers up and down. I dont know about otherts, but I use my thumb for throws, v-skill and v-trigger.

Not during a combo though, only for simultaneous button presses.

Pad warrior here son. Which is actually a legit way to play this SF. God I'm so happy you do can ex's with two buttons, easilly my favorite change .

There is a lot of of fresh blood out there that's for sure. SF4 last week was a shark tank. Street Fighter 5 since launch has been a piece of cake. Won't be long until everyone overtakes me and starts kicking my ass so in the mean time I'm going to enjoy mercilessly battering people who don't block

Every other match is Karin mirror. Can everyone else just stop using her.

I have three fingers on all punches and thumb on light kick by default. I use index finger and thumb for inputs like throw and v-skill.

Why is it that streamers like pr balrog and jwong seem to get matches within 30 seconds of their last one, and I get stuck with 5-10 minutes of searching between matches? Even set the fucking filter to 3-5 connection

Almost selected the damn Ivory Coast flag instead of the Ireland one when setting up my profile.

If I was any bit sleepy I'd be fighting from the Ivory Coast! :P

Personally I prefer stick, but it will not make you better at the game. I think If you want it and can afford it go for it, but playing with pad isn't the worst thing in the world and getting one because you think it will make you better is setting yourself up for disappointment. Get one because you want to play on stick. Not trying to sound discouraging, but if you are bad on pad you will be bad on stick.

As a soon to be expatriate I settled on the SFV flag

I could never really get into fighting games aside from Smash. Will this be the title that hooks me?

Its definitely easier to play than sf4, but it's kinda bare right, especially without an advanced trainig mode. If this was 'complete', I could totally recommend it. Maybe wait a month?

On my... 20th lose streak. Just lost to a guy who I'm pretty sure only played Necalli once.

I've never felt this feeling, and I know I'm in the minority, but I feel like a hole was just made in my wallet.

I'm really starting to regret getting this. :(

So I know how barebones the release is but I'm really wanting to get into SF5, so I'm wondering about a couple of things:

1) What are the substantial differences (if any) between the PC and PS4 versions? And how's the cross-play?

2) I'd likely get it on PC, but I definitely want a fight stick with it.. Are these easy to find for PC? I imagine PS4 fight sticks are just plug and play. The same should hold true for PC, I imagine?

3) Can we buy the pre-order costumes as DLC? Been watching a few twitch streams and some of those alt costumes look really awesome.

.

Your best bet is to get a 360 fight stick, Windows sees it as a regular 360 controller which many games are compatible with so you'll have almost no issues with it.

God i suck. I hate this game

I love this game

I hate this game.

Ok. I love it..

Honestly for me, I'm like the half opposite of this.

I suck, I hate this game, but I don't love it. Seriously wishing I had gotten it on PC so I could have refunded it. First fighter I've gotten I'm just not enjoying.

Hit up google and find a combo, then practice it until you can whip it out on command. Also, practice your specials. Fighting games are more like learning an instrument. Then you go out and have sick music battle offs with friends! Or at least thats how my goofy brain sees it.
Edit: sorry, from your post Ithought you were new to fighters._.

any tips on how to get out of pressure with Karin? When I get pressured I find it very hard to get out... her anti-air seems weak even with that EX move..

Finally got some games in. Now I'm getting matched up with someone 15 seconds or so after going back to title screen.

Laura is so fun. I got in a couple of three win streaks and beat a Karin with 1K or so BP. Leveled up to Bronze. Gief is the most annoying match-up so far for me, with Ryu a close second.

1) PC can support higher resolution. Also has higher resolution textures and fancy motion blur.

2) Currently the PC version only supports X Input, so you'd need a 360 stick for plug and play. Capcom says they're working on adding direct PS stick support.

3) Dunno. Probably. Capcom seems to like money.

A good gief will give a Laura problems. Only way I've been able to manage was to take advantage of that spacing and fireball and cheese it out with footsies.

Should I even bother playing this game if I'm not gonna use a fight stick for the foreseeable future?

This had to have been asked before so I apologize for the redundancy.

Playing Story and Survival on easy some it's been a damn long time since a fighting game that I played, and I think I'm slowly getting into the swing of things a little bit.

That said, no way I'm going online til I can at least cope with hard. As I am I'm sure I'd get absolutely butchered.

The blow outs are easy to forget but it's the close ones that stick with you and make it hard to sleep at night.

How do you guys deal with those close matches that you lost?
