I finally started watching Umineko and I'm loving it.
I'm loving it so much I've decided to buy the game to play it (also because I found out yesterday that there's a translation patch for it), as silly as it sounds.

i'm skipping on cross game because i plan on reading it eventually. and when i say read, i mean i'll innocently start with 1 volume and end up reading 5 or 6 and missing my bedtime. because adachi does that to me.

adachi likes to use high school baseball the most, but that background is pretty much interchangeable for him (or me). like his work on rough, or katsu.

This isn't a current series but I just finished watching Baccano!. Wow.

So many great characters. There were a bit too much gore for me but other than that it was awesome. Maybe a bit weird but I loved the demons/Ronny Sukiart's voice. (Japanese)Though Im really not sure about the order of events on the series and what exactly the demon was.

I'd really like to have this on Blu-ray. Though I think it wasn't even aired in HD so I doubt there will ever be a BD for it.

Also what kind of series is Durarara!! since it's from the same author as Baccano and getting an anime from Brains Base?

Umineko really isn't a game...it's not really like a visual novel in the common sense either..no branching paths...no decision making...just...a linear storyline with no game over i think

no clue, but the char design is by the author of Yozakura Quartet, so instant watch for me :D

Zan Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei 6: :lol :lol :lol @ JesusKafuka

The new girl is so weird.

I think SHAFT is making fun of Endless Eight those gag rehashes.

Baccano! is the best TV anime ever made (along with Cowboy Bebop), IMO. I'd also love to see a BR release. I'm not sure whether it wasn't aired in HD because of how it was created or simply because the station it was on doesn't have an HD channel. I'm not really sure how animation works.

That said, have you heard how friggin expensive BR anime sets are in Japan? I was looking into getting Darker than Black and I heard it was 400 USD!!

You should just go ahead and read Cross Game. 140+ chapters sounds intimidating but each chapter is mainly scenery and reaction shots, you can burn through many chapters in 3-5 minutes.

I got tired of waiting for the anime so I purchased V. 7-14 of the manga over a month ago. At first I was iffy on how the story veered away from the baseball but now I'm all for the relationship aspect. I have no clue whether Kou will end up with Aoba, part of me don't want them to, but part of me think the are perfect for each other. I'm so torn!

Japan, sadly, has to actually pay for production (especially on OVAs! TVA not as horrible,) and when there's 5,000 people that will buy the episode that cost you $150k to produce...:lol

Surprised they even bother. Arn't there something like 100+ million people in that country?

There's 300 million Americans, another 30 million Canadians, and niche releases here have a hard time breaking 1000.

Okay, so Shangri-la started in spring but it's still running right now...

and I just wanted to say that this is one of the greatest stories ever, but told in the worst way possible: through anime with lolis and squeaky voices. :(

I know that, but you'd think to produce a tv series it can't be that niche.

It can when the unit price is that high.
(Merchandise sales are the big profit drive. $100 pillowcases add up fast. Also, due to the structure of TV broadcast in Japan, the main sponsors buy the entire airblock and then get the ad revenue and/or free ad time; producing a show can be worthwhile for this.)

I have to say the anime version of Cross Game is doing a good job of fleshing out the attraction between Aoba and Koh. In the manga, it was a little bit harder to catch, but you can see it clearly in the most recent episodes. It's a really well done interpretation of the manga so far. And now I know how they're going to prevent it from catching up to the manga too quickly. I was wondering why they'd introduced a new character, that female slugger. They're going to have a story arc completely different from the manga with Aoba playing for an all girls team :lol

they introduced another female slugger besides senda's cousin (Midori)? i'm not all the way caught up...

I still have to buy and read the 9th volume of the manga, but I thought the attraction between Koh and Aoba felt pretty obvious in the manga (but maybe I'm simply too much used to Adachi?), with both of them noticing it but doing their best to shrug it off so as not to feel like they were betraying Wakaba.

Man, I keep changing my opinion about Sora no Manimani. I started liking it, but after the third episode I wanted no more of it and I really couldn't Saku anymore.
Then I gave the 4th episode a chance and it started being fun again until the 6th, when it looked like it was going on a downturn again for me.
After 7th now I have to say I don't know anymore. The episode was a bit meh and a bit cool, but Saku is such a shitty character. Well, at least I can say episode 7 wasn't as bad as I thought it would be after the end of episode 6.

No, it's Midori. I'd been wondering why they introduced her in the first place. Makes sense now that they're doing a story arc.

Just saw the first ep of the new Haruhi arc. Towards the end I noticed Haruhi talking back and forth to Kyon, though Kyon's lines sound like their his internal thoughts as opposed to being spoken out loud. I think this has happened once or twice in the first season as well - does anyone in the series actually notice Haruhi is actively reading Kyon's thoughts and not realizing it?

I recall a few "stop reading peoples thoughts!" lines in the light novels.

I'm pretty sure this is an extension of the light novels where Kyon's dialogue didn't have quotation marks, making it difficult to distinguish between when he was thinking something or saying it out loud.

oh, so Aoba really is going to play for a girls team? that would be kinda neat. i'm not sure if you were just throwing that out there or you were serious about an original story arc.

Temporarily, at least. Probably won't last but a couple of episodes, though. She just looks to be joining for a pick up game in the episode 21 end preview.

So... apparently Jason Mraz is a secret K-on! fan? I thought it was just a fan inter-cut at first but every video on Youtube I've checked for this (Crappy, naturally) song has that soundbite in it. Randomc had the article.

The manga inspired him to learn guitar, he has pictures of Yui all over his wall. And ceiling. Really creepy.

Edit: It really sounds misplaced though so I'm not buying it.

Edit2: Or some crazy producer over in Asia spliced it in.

Bakemono 7:
"Lie there and be happy until you can move."
"Does this have anything to do with the rumour that some guys can identify girls by their hips?"
"Don't make weird sounds!"
"It's because you touched me in a weird way!"
"I didn't touch you in a weird way or anything!"
"I'm ticklish."
"So there's no reason to make a noise that breaks down how your character's been established up until now!"
"Now let's get to the point. I'm a lesbian."
"You're a guy, so that may have been a bit blunt. Um, lemme rephrase that. I'm into yuri."
"That's the same damn thing!"
"Well if you just want her for her body, maybe I can take her place. I think I'm pretty cute. I can grow my hair longer and look a bit more girlish, and improve my complexion. And I've played sports since way back, so I've got a nice slim waist. I'm seriously up for it. If you want it, I'll be uke to your seme, anywhere, anytime."
"Seme? Uke? Why do I have to want that?!"
"Oh, I see. Araragi-senpai, you're not into BL? That's surprising."
"I don't wanna talk about BL with a girl from a younger class!"
"Then just what are you so angry about? Don't tell me you're an uke?"
"Shut up! This conversation is over!"
"I'm afraid I'm going to say something intrusive, Araragi-senpair. If you can't even enjoy talking dirty with a younger girl, how are you going to survive when you get out into society?"
"What's up? You brought a different girl today too. Everytime we meet, it's a different one. I offer my sincere congratulations."
Dialogue. Goldmine.

(Slightly disappointed Suruga doesn't have her own OP yet.)

Actually, I think there is a significance to why Aoba insisted on going to Seisho High rather than settle and join an all girl school so she can play baseball officially. So in that respect, I think this filler arc could possibly take a bit away from her character. We'll see I guess, but I'm no fan of fillers in general, no matter how well done.

Finished Michiko to hatchin.

File it under the category of once again "another overhyped and overrated anime" with nothing good going for it aside from visuals.

Not even the music?

And yet you watched all of it?
If it was so mediocre, why not stop whenever you realised?

I don't blame him, there are tons of animes that I've sat all the way through waiting for them to redeem,
fucking Gilgamesh, awesome OP music though

That song has been leaked since May and originally came from a Chinese website. There's a far greater chance that its just some random watermark that the download site or original uploader added to the song. Especially due to how poorly sliced in it is. Plus its not even an official song of his.

What are you talking about? Mraz has been playing guitar years before the manga ever came out.

damn... i was planning on starting on that....
i hated the first episode for its incredibly cliched setup... but was hoping it'd get better...
i do sometimes watch shows for the visuals.. like kaiba, mononoke, and akagi... but they all turned out great

I'm pretty sure it's already been recorded. It's on the CD for vol.3 bluray/dvd ltd edition, at the very least...titled Ambivalent World...not sure if it's going to be Sawashiro singing it or not, though. I don't think she's known for much singing tbh

Of all the things in my post you took issue with this statement the most?
I see someone else has been in his room and seen the posters. Creepy, right? I mean, lying face down on a Yui pillow just to come up for air only to be greeted by Yui posters in every direction, it was creepy right?

the worst part is that the last episode diminishes almost any impact the show has emotionaly..it literaly renders the previous episodes worthless

Bakemonogatari 8 (Suruga Monkey 3) in terms of story wasn't as touching as Mayoi Mai Mai 3 but was still a fun watch

I liked the Suruga OP a lot...Sawashiro's husky voice works really well with it.

I don`t know if this is the proper thread for this but I just finished Gurren Lagann and I absolutely loved it, every second of it! so positive!!!! charged me with human power!!

The only thing I'm currently watching is Souten Kouro and I haven't tried anything else since. A friend has recommended Bakemonogatari, but has anything came out after One Outs that is truly worth watching?

Guin Saga was awesome this week, too bad they sped the show up so much- I really think it could have been done a lot slower.

And yes, it came after One Outs, which was very good.

I liked Suruga's story more than Mayoi's. The fight would've been great if Shaft didn't put random text frames everywhere. SHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAFT!

The Shinobu scene was hot.

Just finished watching Sengoku Basara. Was a fun show, over the top and made no sense but man did it have nice animation. It was just plain fun, nothing great. Glad to see there will be a second season!

Zan SZS continues to be awesome. Subs are starting to fall behind though :/

If 8's not out today, it'll be because of sign work on c-part.
Seriously contemplating just roughing them and fixing for DVD.
