Summer 2012 Anime |OT2| Of Suspended Anime Due To Olympics

Thinking about it, how many shows were delayed by the Olympics in the end ?

I think E7 AO, Joshiraku, the Can't sleep with my Little Sister one and the Chocolate LN one.

Though for some of them, they are airing two episodes after another to catch up to regular pacing I believe.

How can you not be excited for to love-ru darkness?

Can someone explain to me why so many people are excited about this show when it's my understanding that the original To Love-ru is terrible crappy magical girlfriend harem stuff? Are there just more tits in Darkness or something? It's not going to make me suddenly care about the show either way, but I am somewhat bemused as to why it seems so popular.

I'm guessing that's it.

I was wondering the same actually. I've seen it namedropped for a while now but I have no idea why.

I'm kind of interested in seeing how different it is, since Darkness comes after the comic book artist's (ex)wife took his dignity, money and sanity. But I'll be comparing the animes instead of the source material, so it'll be a distorted effect.

The Light of El Cantare
Sword Art Online 03:

I've avoided reading any discussion on the show since I fell behind, so forgive me if I dredge up issues that have already been discussed to death.

Let's get this out of the way first: everything about this show pisses me off. The cheap hamfisted emotional manipulation, Kirito's dumbshit inconsistent illogical attitude toward pretty much everything, minor characters lacking any similarity to actual human behavior whatsoever who exist solely to complicate things, the fact that the game world is apparently so boring that they can skip fucking half of it in a single episode and expect no one to notice, the utter absurdity of the premise continually undermining the believability of the drama (not that there's been any good drama yet anyway), everything.

I mean, Kirito--what's this guy's deal? We go from the whole
"fuck you guys I'm the greatest gamer in the history of gaming and I'll beast the whole game solo"
declaration in the previous episode to
Kirito cooperating with a random guild and playing nice and letting people get experience points and items that he could easily take for himself while concealing his true power level from these guys for who knows what benefit other than to be DARK AND MYSTERIOUS and I suppose a dash of paranoia that these dudes are going to be like the morons from the first level screaming BEATER RABBLE RABBLE if it's discovered just how good at the game he is
. Then he's back to
lone wolf again because he's angsting over his own misplaced blame over his guild's deaths, gives the only guy in the whole game that cares whether he lives or dies the cold shoulder, and throws away an immensely valuable item just because he can't use it on a cute girl that he hang out with for a little while
. Somehow Kirito still feels like a non-character to me but this can't possibly be true when so much happens to him in the course of a single episode.

This episode had its share of other crazy shit, though:

-
one of the beater guys killing himself in front of Kirito because WHY

-
The Black Cat guild suddenly being one-shotted by normal enemies just to facilitate tragedy

-
SKIPPING THE WHOLE FUCKING FIGHT with the Santa Claus boss

-
jumping from level 1 to 11 to 28 to 49 over the course of a single episode

-
the cringeworthy tearjerker scene with dead girl humming Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

-
Kirito not warning the Black Cat guy about the trap room until after he'd opened the chest

-
lazily telegraphing the girl's death waaaaay ahead of time with the "I don't want to die" conversation

And I'm probably forgetting other stuff.

For all the problems I have with this, I'm still very compelled to watch more, if only to see what levels of incredulity I can reach.

we're talkin stealth shots of "uncensored" vaginas in the reflection of a characters eyes or drops of water.

Surely this is a reason to not be excited for the anime? If they can get away with that kind of thing in a TV broadcast I'll be very surprised, so surely the whole thing will end up fogged over and mosaic-ed to hell and back to get the audience to buy the discs? In fact, the original To Love-ru was censored on broadcast, wasn't it - why would this be any different?

Yabuki is a God and Pioneer in the ecchi genre, and moving anime as a whole into the glorious future.

It transitioned from terrible crappy magical girlfriend harem stuff to still bad but hilarious and audacious alien harem smut.

So basically you were right on the dot.

To-love ru is a relatively standard harem series that's maybe slightly more risque than the norm. However, it was prematurely cancelled after the author's wife went fuckin nuts and stole their daughter.

It was brought back in the form of To-love ru Darkness after everything had been sorted out, but this time it moved from Weekly Shounen Jump to Jump Square, the monthly version where the author could get away with a lot more. This was also around the time of the Youth Ordinance bill, so the theory is the guy decided to see just how far he could take the series without it getting cancelled. The result was a product constantly skirting the line between okay and not okay, venturing far past the latter on more than 1 occasion. There is even 1 chapter where
a completely uncensored vagina is visible in the reflection of a character's eye,
something that the editors may or may not have caught.

It's just something that needs to be experienced.

Anime fans are mysterious beings.

But seriously, you probably answered your own question. It's probably not worse than your average magical girlfriend harem #4345454.

Shitty otaku shows better than Girls Und Panzer aka Upotte 2. Oh wait, gif.

R;N VN isn't that good so the anime might not be. My gif was too cute and made my mood good so I'm adding something less antagonistic! ! ! ! !

Subete no aware
I gave the Wikipedia article for the tan hua a brief glance, and (it figures) there's not a word about how it's able to successfully reproduce with such a short window for pollination. Apparently it's actually native to the Americas where it's known as "Dutchman's Pipe" or "kardable" and it's technically a flowering cactus!

re: Heartcatch, you vastly underestimate Erika and Tsubomi's chemistry and charisma, hahah.
Yeah, I read the wiki article too. I have no idea how it works. Without the flowers, it just looks like any other kind of leafy potted plant... so maybe leafy potted plants do their own thing. lol

And with Smile, at least they can rotate between the girls to base episodes around them. With two girls, you can only do a story with one or the other!

That's how poorly conceived science fiction works, sure. I mean, yes, there's probably no way to avoid some modern-day elements -- sci-fi is usually a work as much about the time it was made in as it is about the time it's set in, and the same is true for fantasy -- but stuff like that? That would not be hard to do a better job of.
That's the thing, if you get too far up your own ass in terms of detailing every small detail in the universe, then you end up spending way too much time world building than you should.

Aria gets away with it since it's basically tourism porn for Venice and most of the things they're coming up with already exist. But imagine trying to fill out a real city in that kind of detail over the course of an anime series or any thing other than a 1000 page novel. It's not advised, that's for sure.

I don't know maybe she picked up one of his mangas one day and realized she wasn't married to Akira Toriyama but a mangka that draws crappy harems with naked loli girls in them.

So the main character is really good at Ninja Warrior. This world he gets Saito'd into enacts war and territory disputes through a Ninja Warrior/Wipeout/American Gladiators system where no one gets hurt.

Dog girls are fine

but of course the best girl is a cat girl.

"This is not dragon ball"

The whole thing:

- There is this person called Nakamura Ine who is quite famous on the Nico Nico website (a large Japanese online community somewhat like Youtube), who turned out to be a minor (last year in high school) and also insinuated that he has something going on with a Kashiwagi Shiho.

- Now this Shiho was the wife of Yabuki Kentaro, the author of To-Love-Ru. She met Yabuki when he was looking for assistants, seduced him and ended up becoming his wife and gave birth to a daughter.

- But she hardly did any house work, neglected her daughter, and spent most of her days in front of a computer spending time in Nico Nico etc.

- January 2009, when Yabuki was sick with flu and bedridden, she kidnapped her own daughter and disappeared, and it turned out that she left her daughter at her parents' place while she was doing this and that with Ine.

- February 2009, Yabuki 'begged' Shiho to return for the sake of their daughter, and Shiho did return to Tokyo, but few days later she dropped out once again with the girl, this time taking a notebook computer and Yabuki's credit cards. Yabuki later stopped the cards, but a large sum of money was already taken out.

- Yabuki looked for them everywhere, but to no avail. March 2009, Shiho demanded a divorce on the grounds of personality clash and a large chunk of Yabuki's assets, but when the evidence of her infidelity was discovered on her computer, she then changed her stance and demanded money in exchange for the custody right of the daughter.

- Realizing it would take over a year to settle things, Yabuki accepted her conditions and got the daughter back.

- Haruna Sairenji was based on Kashiwagi Shiho, and there is a reason why her role was reduced dramatically since volume 13, and Yui getting more prominent. And apparently Shiho has sued/demanded more money for the character of Haruna recently.

- A comment of Yabuki's while this was all happening:
[While I was working hard on a manga that was focused on taking young girls' panties off, another man was taking my wife's panties off.
