Hyouka - Episode 15

This arc continues to really impress me on all levels. Keeping the mystery as a subtle background element in a few episodes to allow the cultural festival itself to develop as the main story stage really pays off, because now with the mystery out in the open everyone is much more invested into it, and it feels more like a major event, rather than a curious footnote.

I really like the way the characters have developed in the series, even though I found much of the earlier parts of the series inconsistent and honestly pretty boring at times. It doesn't hurt that this arc is really developing Mayaka as a character too, along with her manga club. Team Mayaka is the best team, and we should all rejoice over this.

The way they end this episode is a really nice parallel to the way they started episode 12, and it sets up some serious anticipation for what will occur on the final day of the festival. This is the Hyouka we deserve and the Hyouka we need right. Thank you Based KyoAni!

Btw, this scene was pretty creepy:

Wow, was quite good. love the transition between flashback and present day, and some of the better anime rain.

And these emotions... >:O

And I called it, VP was quite adorable in her youth

Guilty Crown 22

And so this ends with
Rei Mana inducing Third Impact Fourth Apocalypse and Shinji Shu rejecting Instrumentality Crystallization.
Truly a modern day Evangelion.

Good job. You made it to the end. Now. Your thoughts on the show and everything about it?

A terrible allocation of resources. I'm surprised it's one of your favorite anime but I suppose that can't be helped.

??? It's not. I hate Guilty Crown. It's such a bad show. It was cosmicblizzard that liked it a lot.

I'm pretty sure it was you. No backtracking.

No dude. I've made it quite clear to all of animegaf that I absolutely despise everything about the show with the exception of animation, music, and Gai.

Proof.

In all honesty, Guilty Crown doesn't even belong on any list. The show is so horrendous that I would put it in its own isolated spot. Ugh...

Listen to the OST and watch for the animation. Oh, and also Gai. Everything else is pretty stupid.

Page 4.

I'm just shocked that Guilty Crown is on that list. That show is so bad....

There's this from page 3.

All i remember from Guilty crown was that I couldn't really figure out what the MC was as a character besides really hating him for everything he did. And there were mechs, girls of assorted fetishes (wheelchairs, nekomimi, idol, and more?).

Also the dude pulled novelty sized household appliances out of people for some reason.

Also this was the first show i've ever dropped because i learned that the show didn't actually end at eps 13 or 12 or w/e it felt like it was over.

At least the OST was pretty good i think.

That's a lot to like about it. Is this that tsundere thing coming back up?

Damn you and your troll tactics.

You didn't get to see badass Shu? Man... you missed out. It was actually pretty cool.

I don't think this is really fair, even as someone who isn't necessarily crazy about Evangelion. Eva has themes and things to say, even if it can get bogged down and isn't really amazing at communicating or handling them. Guilty Crown is just like...a sad attempt at arousing viewers through attempts to capture the emotional swings and crazy story loops in its copied notes of other anime. It is an emotionless and tactless striptease choreographed from copied notes that is only able to stimulate via stirred remembrance of genuinely accomplished and complete shows.

I don't know... I think I like GC more than I do Eva. I was never a fan of the show. It also didn't click with me either.

Oh, the comment was facetious and in reference to some news post I saw comparing the two. At least I think it was in reference to this show.

I agree with your post though. I can't remember who brought it up but I saw discussion in here once about how older anime benefited from directors learning and being influenced by film while the newer folk suffered in their craft due to learning from previous anime. That's what this felt like and really the first time I've felt that way about a show. It's like a rundown of (un)necessary bulletpoints from a trope list in order to evoke emotion and emulate older, better stuff without once considering why said stuff succeeded in the first place. I suppose creatively bankrupt would be a succinct description.

Oh my gosh. Okay. If Eva and GC came out at the same time then I'd like Eva more. As it stands I appreciate Eva for its allusions and various references and themes. This is important to me because it shows the level of insight in a show. GC clearly doesn't have the level of Eva in this aspect. The reason I like GC is because it's more recent/modern. It has good animation and a really good OST. And it has Gai. Essentially, recent anime makes me like GC more than Eva.

Also, forgot to add that Awesome Shu beats Shinji, who is never awesome imo.

Someone brought FSN H-scene? Hah! anything from worst route doesn't count, you hadn't witnessed either of mollusk or pudding!

GC wish its had impact like end of eva, hate it or love it. For GC its just empty, because they just mix all kind of trope n plot from popular anime anyway.

Blood-C does trainwreck better.

Slow down there, we only have a finite supply of reaction gifs.

Uh.... GC had like no impact at the end. It just made me hate the show even more. Also, despite me hating on Shu all the time, I actually felt bad for him at the end.

What are you going on about?

Eva has some of the best mechanical animation in any TV anime. Pretty much everyone who was anyone in the 90s worked on Eva.

You wrong again, even 20 year more old Eva had better visual and OST, its had Utada Hikaru as theme song singer fgs >_>

And they had golden generation of Gainax for mecha animation opposed cheap CG.

I'm not even fan of eva..

I definitely think so. He's willing to watch it again.
It must be pretty good.

I'm willing to watch it again so I can suffer with you. If you're not watching then I'm not watching.

Uh... I don't even know how to properly respond to this. Sorry but GC looks much better than Eva does. The series itself was definitely one of the best at its time. We're currently not in that time. So... yeah. No. I disagree.

Uh... not use any? I feel like this discussion is going to lead nowhere. It's like trying to argue with Tales of Symphonia fans that Symphonia is the best Tales game. It just goes... nowhere.
Where is it going to go? Like, you're just completely off the mark. Even about why you think Eva is 'deep.'
I disagree.
This reminds me of the time when you said that Assassin's Creed had wonderful writing, or that Pandora Hearts is the best manga you've ever read. You need more xp. Grind film, grind books, grind porn, level up and become a cynical internet nerd.

Uh... sure. I'll get right on that. As for the deep part. Sorry I didn't mention the Instrumentality. Jeez.

You're just trolling me right?

No? I'm honestly just listing out random crap that I consider to be deep in the series. If I haven't mentioned then it means I haven't gotten around to it or I must've missed it - and you apparently didn't. Regardless, I don't see this discussion going anywhere so I'm just gonna end it here or after your response.

I disagree.

Stop it bro.

Btw its remind me the pain of watching GC, I endure it with hope seeing awesome sakuga cut like in eps 1,2, n, 4. But its never got showcased again, they abusing quick cut to the death instead >_>
fucking fraud, make my experience watching Heroman infinitely better.

Okay.... I don't think that still discounts the amazing animation and great cuts that the series had in its entirety though.

Good animation doesn't magically get worse when it gets older. It looked fantastic then and it looks fantastic now.
