Back to the regular fare I suppose. Some nice Kansai-ben aside and "quirkiness" it was pretty unremarkable. Battles still look super weird too. Hopefully the next episode at least tries to make use of all the stuff they threw on EP04.
I fully expect Yura is going to end up using her powers to save Miyakuchi's mentor from his death in battle and that's going to be a thing.
:SDBurton still healthy.

[Cowboy Bebop] - References

For the most part Cowboy Bebop references materials that aren't anime e.g. Cowboy flicks, jazz music, Chinese gangster films etc* but some times it has straight up call outs to previous anime titles. One major one that I had never considered until just now is to the 1985 series Dirty Pair, also produced by Studio Sunrise.

Now, Dirty Pair and Cowboy Bebop share a few basic story similarities. Both shows are about characters in a sci-fi setting who go off on a variety of wacky adventures, with their own ship and pet animal, who generally end up either messing up or performing their given task rather poorly.

I hadn't made the connection until now because both shows are also fairly different from each other, they both look very different, are set in very different sci-fi futures, the characterisation is handled differently and of course Cowboy Bebop has a serious through-plot that's tied into the main character's past. Yet, as serious as Bebop is at time's it's can also be very silly. As I watching episode 2's bounty, Hakim, punch out a groom at a wedding just so that he could steal their 'Just Married' car I suddenly reminded of the kind of nonsense which would happen in Dirty Pair. Indeed, both shows actually have an episode which involves the main characters catching a genetically engineered animal:

Both shows feature an episode where the characters enter a casino and end up with a very important chip:

There's even a few visual similarities:

So while the shows are very different and the episodes themselves aren't particularly similar I can feel vague echoes of Dirty Pair in some elements of Cowboy Bebop, specifically in terms of the tone of the humour.

*For more information on these kinds references please see ghostlightining's excellent series on Cowboy Bebop here. It's really good.

I always like reading your analysis of this stuff. specially since I rarely notice any of it myself. I just absorb anime into my consciousness and squee at it. Thats why folks like you are important!

Just been on a little hiking-ish walk with family. This seemed just about relevant enough to post here because there were horses, and the first thing those made me think of was Silver Spoon.

Also, I found myself musing that the Silver Spoon characters would probably be able to tell me why this horse was wearing some kind of strange outfit:

Oh, and getting out into the English countryside made me almost feel like I was in the idyllic England depicted in Kin'iro Mosaic. It also gave me the perfect opportunity to try out the Panorama feature on my iPod touch:

Whoever said the 3D world has nothing to offer?

I love playing with panorama mode on my phone too. Posted this of my room:

Kiniro Mosiac 5

This episode gives attention more to Yoko, the character who seems to be the big sister of the group, on top of Isami having a sister complex (and probably favors Yoko more if the ending means anything.) They're becoming more aware that Aya is consisted of 90% Yoko (it's true!) and that Yoko either only consists of comedic retorts, or at least is 50% kindness.

Shino and Yoko's relationship was fleshed out, and gets played through the episode.

Still a feel good show thankfully.

Its funny how the show with the least yuri potential ends up being the most.

Every since entering the cast (he has good design), things have just gone up and up in terms of episode and entertainment quality, while for the characters I cant help but feel as if things may collapse soon.
Striking Honda and eventually getting close to Ginka's father was abit too close to home and her statement at the end almost feels as if something may come to pass. I still cant help shake the feeling that Luna or someone will die but how it hasnt happened in the first five episode is a bit surprising. Minor thing, I didnt know normal humans could use the cards like that.

I knew you would like that character lol.

Yeah I don't get it. I mean it's even the one suggested in that 2ch translated comic.

I don't think I ever saw that one, but the first episode itself gave that feeling off since it was about the budding friendship of a westaboo and an english girl, which is enough to get the Yuri train rolling.

Araragi gets all the supernaturals.

Its a show with little girls in it. didnt think it would go that direction.
I have no problem with it doing that just didnt expect it.

I don't know, I mean Card Captor Sakura has some yuri potential, but then again, everyone is a sexual deviant
artist
in that universe. That and there was the timeskip towards highschool near the end.

Let's Play! Suite Precure: 37

So we get Ellen as a black cat,
How fitting
, Kanade as a witch, Ako as a princess, and Hibiki as Captain Marvelous a pirate. Cool.

Seems the Negatones are stronger, and
The true big bad close to awakening.

I've gotta take a break from watching. One or two more tonight from me I think.

True, but I was comparing it to Croisee which wasnt yuri at al and was just a cute story of a little japanese girl trying to figure out France. It was so adorable and Kinmoza gave me the same feel at first.

Truly and honestly?

That was probably the best episode in the entire franchise so far. Yes, even better than Bake 12. I didn't think that was possible. And with Hanekawa of all people.

That doesnt mean anything to me when I cant read a word of it.

Go to the post that Theonik linked to, and click the first link that isn't quoted. The post hosting that image (which it'll automatically go to) has a translation of it. Granted something like that won't catch someone's eyes immediately, and I think I was working that day so I was doing a quick scan of posts when I got back to catch up.

We need more insightful analysis in this thread.

No they both do. Its probably just a generic Playstation controller anyway. Those triggers are the fucking worst. Shows sony doesnt know wtf they are doing. But they do that a lot anyway.
The far controller doesn't. idc. bad art.

So I only really paid attention to the credits this week, and it looks like Alice's home is actually a B&B:

Funny enough, they actually have a page in Japanese, so I assume it's known as a place for Japanese tourists to go to.

You know, I just realized, even though BGBW hates the red phonebox, maybe they actually found a red phonebox somewhere in this village and used that for photo reference. lol

They were always bad. I dont really see the appeal of that particular show that makes it hugely popular but w/e.
It has Shirashi Ryoko voicing a female character which is always a noteworthy mention! Aside from that, I got tired about 4 episodes into it so I've no idea. Everyone appeared to want Not-Lelouch's dick though.
Does anyone in Japan even own an Xbox?
Sugita and Nakamura from Tokyo Encounter maybe?
