Tragic victim of fan death
The incredible sales for Preserved Roses and Jiyuu e no Shingeki mean that they have both catapulted to near the top of the modern sales reporting (2000-present) lifetime best-selling anison charts:

1) 191,599 -- Don't say "lazy" -- K-On! ED (2009)
2) 173,894 -- Anna ni Issho Datta no ni -- Gundam SEED ED (2002)
3) 172,779 -- Jiyuu e no Shingeki -- Attack on Titan OP (2013)
4) 171,756 -- Motteke! Sailor Fuku -- Lucky Star OP (2007)
5) 167,898 -- Cagayake! GIRLS -- K-On! OP (2009)
6) 165,417 -- Preserved Roses -- Valvrave the Liberator OP (2013)
7) 156,172 -- Kimi wa Boku ni Niteiru -- Gundam SEED Destiny ED (2005)

Of course, there are probably many many songs from pre-2000 that have sold better than all of these, but still.

Wow. Congrats. TM REVOLUTION FTW!

Maturity, bitches.
Not only do people sit next to me on the bus, sometimes they are female.

So I can conclude I'm more handsome than the average AnimeGAFer.

Wait, what numbers are they using?
ORANGE RANGE sold like 600,000 units of Asterisk, the opening of Bleach. Why isn't it on the list?

Maybe the list is excluding extremely long-running shonen shows. I dunno.

Seeing as I've posted something wrong yet again I think I'm just going to go shut up forever now.

Sales record that us westerner can access usually only first week data from oricon, so when news came out certain single getting platinum or something we can't get confirmation.

Same stuff from anime/games sales data.. Kadokawa have saying Haruhi's movie disc sold something like 200k that far from oricon data that have it like 120k.. We really didn't know for certain to these kind of thing. We can only get the gist of it from oricon tracking.

That doesn't really explain why some singles aren't included though.

lol @ using Garlic Jr characters as incentives

double lol @ the ONE-HUNDRED BOOSTER PACK incentive. You just know that there were kids dumpster-diving behind hobby shops for this back then, or if not, I pity the person who actually purchased one hundred booster packs for the Dragonball Z Trading Card Game. There used to be so many ads for this in Beckett but I never met a single person who played.

The only anime based TCG I played besides Pokemon was the Yu Yu Hakusho one when it came out briefly. It was actually pretty fun too and I had some people in my Neighborhood to play with too.

Its hard to believe there's no any single of l'arc in there, breaking 100k was easy for them.. yeah faulty list etc etc

There's definitely something weird about the list.

L'arc stuff:
Ready Steady Go (FMA) - 310,534
Link (FMA movie) - 235,751
Daybreak's Bell (Gundam 00) - 181,306

I think Pornograffiti's Melissa and Winding Road did really well too.

Steins;Gate 19

Jesus damn...

It really is sad watching him progressively go back farther and farther with the mind leaps and change what was funny, light-hearted banter with Kurisu and others into...what it is now. The dude is legitimately an emotional wreck at this point. Experiencing Mayuri die over and over again has really frayed him significantly. At the beginning of this episode, he mind leaps back to his little spat about him eating Kurisu's pudding and he's just...the Okabe from the first half of this series isn't there anymore.

Speaking of emotional wrecks, his encounter with Moeka in this episode was...something else. First he goes back to learn she killed herself, followed by a call from Kurisu that Mayuri's dead (don't know how, but it was expected). Then he goes back further to see her, and she's just lost it. How can this FB person hold such power over her? How can a person she's never met or even talked to make her do these things, and make her go mad simply by not contacting her?

That's the last one for tonight.

Yeah stuff is starting to get absolutely crazy by this point. Quite excellent.

Hey, AnimeGAF!
I just wanted to stop by and give thanks to everyone that recommended Neon Genesis Evangelion to me! I got my girlfriend to watch it with me, and she's up to End Of Evangelion!
So, I drew a pic of EVA-01 and I thought you guys would like it!
It's not done, but whatevs.

Thanks for the good recommendations! I'll be watching more anime as soon as we finish End Of Evangelion, so I'll be around more. :p

Greetings! Eva is a lot of things to a lot of people. Nice artwork commemorating it :)
Let us know what you like and we will gladly provide suggestions.

Looking over the list again I think the "anison" qualifier is meant to specifically exclude mainstream bands that would be able to achieve massive sales success regardless, and focusing more on singles that were written with the intent of being used as anime OP/ED songs, featuring more anison-regular acts (like all the Kajiura ones) or groups formed from the show's cast (Haruhi, Lucky Star, K-On). I know that logic leaves Preserved Roses in a kind of in-between area but whatever.

ANYWAY CAN WE FORGET ABOUT THE LIST AND GET EXCITED FOR JUNICHI SATO'S NEW SHOW

edit: hey stop stealing my imgur bandwidth and rehost the gif yourselves
