my anime club is awesome, it might be small with only three members called Me, Myself and I, but we agree on everything and our taste in anime is top notch.

You know, the last episode of Attack on Titan was pretty great, but you can see how being rushed for time and trying to make up for it by just throwing more and more animators at each episode can do a number on the consistency of scenes:

These aren't from different parts of the episode, it's two consecutive shots. It's impressive how not a single aspect of the background plates are the same.

Turns out, it doesn't even have to be this way as one of the most popular girls in school has taking a shine to her, but that gets nixed for some contrived and pervy comedy. Also, her brother Tomoki is a huge waste of space who needed to have his neck snapped. Also, one of the fundamental flaws of this show is the superficiality of it all, we see Tomoko shy away in the middle of the room and then rush to change things. Nobody in this show gave or was in the position to give good advice, that change has to come slow and needs to be deeper then fleeting popularity and shallow love interest. Best thing I can say is thank god, thank the heavens that this show ends with this episode.

Series Analysis: This was truly one of the most vile, disgusting, rage inducing and down right mean spirited anime shows I have ever watched. How much more do I have to bang on about the flaws that I have banged on about since episode one? To briefly recap, we watched a show about an socially awkward little girl try to become popular in very superficial ways and then we are to laugh time and again at the exact same joke over and over again, with no introspection and no growth. There is no doubt that this would be on my AOTY list for the worst of 2013 and indeed worst of all time. Ah, that was cathartic, I think I am going to go watch more Legend of the Galactic Heroes or something now.

I find it hislarious the extremes this show goes through. From using the same 10 buildings for all their backgrounds and action scenes to, having 2 scenes in the same place usi entirely different looking backgrounds.

Huh? What did I say? Did I screw up again? :(

I ask this without a hint of snark: Why was this terrible show allowed to be made? Is watching fictional female characters being abused verbally and physically a new fetish genre I was unaware of? If so then at some point (whenever this sort of filth became a genre) anime hit an amazing new low. Sort of makes me sad. I'm so done with this series.

To be fair, the animation is so good in that episode that you only notice it if you're specifically looking at the backgrounds. The magic of editing is such that you can use completely different backgrounds and as long as it kind of generally looks the same you'll get away with it. Or you can go full SHAFT and stop pretending to care about background consistency altogether.

There seems to be a market for things like this and the dreadful Brothers Conflict.

That Titan seems to be sporting a bit of a chest. I thought they all lacked features like that (judging from such creatures like Ti~tan). Clearly some sort of plot twist has happened while I stopped watching.

NO sale :(

Ive seen this exact picture somewhere before. Its a hillclimb Porsche of some kind. Its a hilarious setup though. Definitely a huge spoiler.

Behold: probably the only time you're ever going to see anything official in English regarding Hyouka. A short trailer for the subtitled Animax Asia broadcast:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z27QFYg9D3M

I thought it was a full official sub of the Hyouka series. Kinda wanted to see that.

I almost don't want to because we all know Charlotte will never win. Search your feelings. They're gonna take the easy route and Houki is gonna win or no one wins.

Best girls never win. you know the rule!

Fun fact: I fell asleep during this episode.

Fun fact: I fall asleep watching almost any anime

Man the Orpheus Order's don't give a fuck they march right up to the main characters and challenge them to battle. I like the idea of this battle game, but the fact we're gonna get 3-4 episodes based around it kind of frustrates me. Cube is now 0-2 against Melancholy but he got his data so I guess he's happy.

By the way Melancholy is by far the most adorable thing I've seen in anime this year.

The loli is becoming my favorite character simply due to design :X

Dawwww. I like her design. Big hat lolis need more appearances in anime!

It's not called Diabolik Wife Beaters for nothing. The only reason the anime was made is because the otome game it's based on is fairly popular. I would like to imagine that the game only got popular because of the characters designs.

Mawaru Penguindrum 11-15
And here I thought the plot had rolled out when it hardly had even begun. Quite a number of bombshells were dropped in these few episodes. I could not anticipate that
Shoma's parents were actually criminals which caused Momoka's death, then that Yuri was even crazier than Ringo, and Momoka's diary actually changes the fate of the world
. The story was already pretty crazy and now it just flipped the world several times over. Also farting penguins are funny

It gets even more nuts too.

I believe it was KuwabaraTheMan's birthday. Happy Birthday!
(Possibly belated depending where you live.)

Thanks Nife for the heads up.

Happy birthday Kuwabara!!

Watamote 12 -END-

Kind of a lackluster final episode for an otherwise pretty great show. It really felt like they used up all their good material early on and the last two or three episodes weren't as good as the rest of the series. Did really like the insert song and the use of the OP near the end of the episode.

Farewell, Watamote. If it weren't for Servant x Service you'd probably be my show of the season. Here's hoping we get a second season, too. I could always do with more of Tomoko.

Watamote 12

Run Forrest, Run!

Good show, would watch season 2.
Season 2 will never happen

Welp, time to watch Watamote. thanks for the reminder!

Well now I have an excuse to never join one.

Besides potentially running into elitists, but still. Guess I would have to try to make them go SDburton to make up for the fujoshis, but that's too much effort and probably throwing males under the bus
Good lord we don't really need more of that.

Oh dont be like that. anime clubs can be a great experience. I met many new friends that way, including my current roommates.

They don't even like anime about themselves!

I guess I asked who Genshiken Nidaime was for and it turns out, it was for no one. So much for a second season!

I have enjoyed the new Genshiken a lot but I dont really know what demographic it is specifically targetting.

I mean I speak solely as a person that hasn't seen the show since last season ended so I don't exactly know what the show is like. Though I'd argue they never actively focused on it and it was more of a product of them being lazy than anything else.

Most people dont react with such intense hatred for it. A lot seem to really enjoy the show and see themselves in it. Its a self introspection.

Either everything is bombing left and right and the anime market will crash into nothing but fujoshi anime soon or the cross media promotion that these anime serve as are very effective and there is now a new anime baseline for sales.

It didnt need one.
Most slice of life shows dont have one.

Yes, actually it did, this isn't K-On! with its eating of cake and drinking of tea, this a show that commanded emotional investment in order to illicit sympathy for it pathetic protagonist only then to ask us again to then laugh at the poor socially awkward clown with no advancement.

Well, no you wouldn't because the writers would contrive some awkward bullshit to serve as a gag, creepy fanservice, and deus ex machina reason for her to go running right back to her hidey hole. Fuck this show.

Looks like Koyto is once again spearheading the new fashion in anime.

Hardly, fujoshi have been big drivers in anime sales for a while. If there's a recent show aimed at fujoshi which has blown up in popularity and likely helped motivate the greenlighting of other series aimed at that audience, it would be Kuroko's Basketball.

The whole muscle man thing has been a fixture of shonen shows for decades. Why would males be hung up on that? I think backlash to free was precisely because it was KyoAni doing it. No other reason.
The backlash to Free! was about gay panic. I thought muscle men was referring to shows like DBZ. Maybe I was wrong.

Im talking about if she was a real person. Actually I have befriended people very much like her before. within the context of the show, Im sure they would probably snatch that away from her too I see your point about that, but Im talking about applying it to real life experiences. I think youre just focusing on the story of Tomoko as its presented rather than applying it to real life people and experiences, and how it related to actual behavior.
