Ana episode? Ana episode!

Best character gets to beast and troll as only he can. I'd watch a show entirely about Ana he's that awesome. I could be :dtl for Ana
Fuwawan .
No seriously Ana is one of the best characters because she has so many skills and a wide range of uses.

Because this is a mahou shoujo, and men aren't as capable in this genre, then again, making them look capable is something that isn't done often to begin with.

I feel like "is this a zombie ?" is the only exception.

What show is it?
Manyuu Hikenchou, a breast expansion/samurai series. Minako Kotobuki and Aki Toyosaki star (Chifusa/Kaede forever!) and it's directed by Hiraku Kaneko, so the attention to detail on the breasts is fantastic. The characters and world are both boob-focused and interesting on their own merits. Even as a jidai geki show, it's still entertaining.

Ohhhh. Ninja tits. Thats what I know it as lol.

You guys and your boobie animes. Speaking of which, I'm about halfway through Maken-Ki. It's getting better as the show progresses, but it's really starving me for more action. At least there's enough fanservice to keep me going :p

I'm looking forward to Maken-Ki's second season. Character designs by Akio Takami and directing by Hiraku Kaneko is a godly combination.

lol, not really, thankfully!

OK, that's good.

Kobayashi seems to be getting less and less work these days. :(

I haven't kept track but some shows are more from adaptations of things she was already in the source material for, yeah.

Watching a few shows from the 90's lately and it's interesting to see who is still around and how prevalent they are and others who don't really get anything other than very small bit parts now.

I scrubbed through the last two where she shows up and tries to use "PC" to take over the world... or something. lol

OK, yeah. Her speech style there kind of reminds me of Berg Katz from Gatchaman Crowds. I think she's overdoing it though as it just often kind of sounds more silly than threatening, haha.

Yeah, that was Hiyokoi. It's probably most notable for, in my opinion, being a "pilot" or "beta test" for how they eventually did Kimi ni Todoke. The primary director on Hiyokoi was an episode director on KnT.

Yeah, that's the show. I looked it up and apparently just at the end of last year there were three more short little specials around the show or something. Might have to give those a look too if I can find them. I haven't seen KnT yet so I can't see any parallels there yet.

Yamato fans, this might be kind of hilarious to watch:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ZJaSPVI0CdY

It's a Japanese dub of TNG, specifically the episode where they find the Yamato. The funny thing is that the guy who plays Sanada in 2199 plays Data here. lol

Ah, I've really gotten into Space Battleship Yamato 2199 lately. It's kind of like K-On in a way for me in that I originally watched the first episode of K-On and liked it but was watching others shows and doing other things and didn't get back to it for months. I re-watched the first episode and went through the show and loved it with it being one of my all time favorites.

A similar thing is happening here where I watched the first three or four episodes and liked it but then started doing other things and now am getting back to the show later and watching it more frequently and loving it! I even told people in the K-On thread to watch it if they weren't already, haha.

Taking a look at last years AOTY vote and it looks like you were the only one to vote for or mention the show. That's too bad as it's really good in my opinion. If we do a vote again this year it's definitely on my list and unless next season just blows me away, it will be in my top five.

Watching that video and not only is Houchu Ohtsuka doing the voice of Data but Akio Ohtsuka, who does the voice of General Domel in Yamato, is doing the voice for Riker. He did the voice for Rider in Fate/Zero if people still don't know who that is.

Thanks. (And just barely still the 23rd here at the time of that post)

Thanks.

Sure. :)
(Just in time,haha)

Hopefully you had a good one.

I've seen that show before, my favorite character was Kagefusa even though she was only shown in like 2 or 3 episodes. I tend to like antagonists better then the protagonists in short animes for some reason.

I think I would rather stick bamboo under my fingernails at this point. I truly hate this series and wish to see it buried into the abyss of history.

I didn't get my wish with that show I don't need to name, my advice is to suck it up and deal with it. I am curious to see how long you're willing to put up with being the loud dissenting voice though, just for comparison's sake...

I'm interested in watching K-On but wanted to know the best place to find it since it doesn't seem to be on CR, checked the OT2 but didn't see anything in there. Also, it looks like it has English dubs, is that the way to watch it or are subs prefered?

It looks like the second season and the movie is on Hulu, but not the first for some reason.

Watamote: 12 (END)

The end of a bittersweet series. I like Tomoko. Why? Because she reminds me of... myself.

I was a quiet, somewhat bitter highschooler. Sure, I had some "friends". But I lacked trust. I was picked last for everything. I was undesirable. I was in Tomoko's position. And my thoughts went the same way. Social anxiety is an issue that plagues me even to this day. I have trouble with simple conversations with anybody but the closest people to me.

So why do I love this series? Because it makes me happy? That's it. I understand what Tomoko is going through, and if you implanted me into that series, you'd probably find me as her friend. Watamote is about the subtle developments of one's character. One's personality. From the beginning to the end, Tomoko shows that she knows she has issues to overcome. But social anxiety holds her back. But even with the toughest of obstacles in front of you, eventually you will succeed. Take life step by step, at your own pace. Become the person you want to be, even if it takes you your entire life. You are the one that matters most.

It's probably because the first season was licensed by Bandai while the second + movie are licensed by Sentai. I think I remember Chet saying they don't distribute the first season anymore.

Edit: Ah yeah, from Wikipedia: On August 30, 2012, Bandai Entertainment announced that it will discontinue distributing their home video and print catalog on March 1, 2013. They made their final shipment to retailers on November 30, 2012.

Wow you guys are making me see Watamote in a new light....I thought it was a sadistic comedy, exaggerating the stereotypical "otaku".

There is a saying though which fits perfectly with Watamote: "theres a grain of truth in every joke". Its like the author is taking the mick out of these stereotypical "otaku", then says I'm kidding by using exaggeration, while knowing that there is some underlying truth in every crazy situation he puts the character through.

I feel like I should comment on Watamote after missing all the previous discussion about it, but I don't really have a ton to say. I ended up dropping it after episode 4 because not only was there no development of any sort, but even for a static gag series, the singular character it focuses on is just far too pathetic and misanthropic for the comedy to be any funny for me. It doesn't really do anything for me as being someone to "relate" to, either.

This is how I approached the series too.
I would definitely be Tomokos friend if I knew her. Im glad the show gave her a friend in Yuu, even if she didnt fully appreciate her. Yuu was a sweetheart.

I feel fortunate at this point to have season 1 blurays.

Maturity, bitches.
This may surprise you but I can't actually relate to Watamote because, not to toot my own horn, I was pretty popular in Secondary School. Well at least well known. Even came across someone the other day via a friend (yes I do have a few of those) who was apparently two years below me who knew who I was and still remembered me.

It's only during these post Uni years that I've become the shadow of my former self and entered the dirge of anime.

I was a pretty mixed bag. I was bullied in elementary with sporadic episodes afterward, was never in the popular crowd, and had all sorts of issues (including requiring anger therapy early on), but I never had trouble making friends of some kind.

I wasnt popular. I was known as "that kid in gym class who makes the paper bugs"
But I was ok with that. I was quiet and didnt care about other people, only myself.

One Piece: The Desert Princess and the Pirates

I was interested in seeing how Alabasta arc is turned into a movie. It's been a while since I watched the arc. Obvious a bunch of stuff got cut and there really wasn't anything new. Still a good watch for the fights.

Can't remember if the Robin info (talking about being saved by people with D in their name) was in the original episodes.

Oh there was a bit of "bullying" (though it was more just being an annoying arse rather than some of the truly mean things bullies can do) but in return I was a bit of a smart arse to him so we both got into trouble (also I had terrible luck of being in the wrong place at the wrong time). He'd eventually try to be friends with me so we left of level terms.

I should emphasise that I wasn't popular in the sense that people gave me high fives when I walked down the corridor, they just knew who I was, probably because they liked the sound of my surname. It was an all boys so it was all very laddy behaviour. But yeah, I never seemed to suffer the way our gal does in Watamote.

Thing is I live far away from a lot of people so outside of school I was pretty much on my own which is why I got into forums in the first place.

I was the shy, quiet kid ever since kindergarten. It kept with me throughout high school, and I guess it became my thing, because I was voted "most shy" in the Senior Class "Awards".

Bullied? Yup. Made fun of? Yeah.

But what would I give to go back to those years....

I got bullied for being chinese, short, wearing glasses, making origami, being quiet, being small/skinny, and liking colorful things (seriously)
I just got used to it to the point where it didnt matter anymore. It just was.

Had very few issues in elementary school. Didn't have too many friends, but I had a few good ones and no one really bugged me.

I gained a lot of weight and was bullied like hell in middle school. Middle School was awful for me the whole time. Terrible few years of my life with not a lot of great moments.

Lost some weight and grew taller in high school, so I went back to being OK. I was one of the kids that was never really part of any one of the major "groups". I had a main group of friends, but I definitely hung out with and talked to people from all the different high school groups. Friends with the jocks, music kids, geeks, etc. It was strange. I wasn't amazing friends with any group, but I was friendly with everyone so it all worked out.

I was pretty much the same except I was so quiet and kept to myself so much to the point that no one really even bothered with me.

Though I did get voted "Most Artistic" in my Senior Yearbook since I was kinda known as the quiet guy who drew anime stuff in class all the time by then. So there was that.

OMG Jinbei!!!!!!!!

I'm almost willing to forgive you for being such a dumbass.

Kuro was such a sweetheart this episode and I''m not even counting how adorable she looked like as a child. Sad about her past, but seeing Jinbei encourage her and bring back her smile, was an extremely happy moment.

Though, I'm really hoping that last part about her memories being erased doesn't stick.
