Posts like this make me realize how this show is like 2 different shows depending on your life experiences. The differences in interpretation are pretty stark.

it's fascinating how divisive the reactions are, isn't it? i only watched the first episode but thought her behaviour went beyond social awkwardness into mental illness, and felt very uncomfortable that i was being asked to laugh at that. maybe too close to home for me though
an ex of mine behaved in a very similar way and ended up killing herself. i blame myself in a "i could have done more" way even though i know it's wrong

Oh, man. Sorry to hear that. :/

Always am surprised to see when people find the lead like that, reminds me of those wishing for Nanami Haruka figures from UtaPri.

Tsubaki third favorite (Futo -> Yusuke -> Tsubaki)

Looks wise. Personality wise, yeah she is practically a sponge that takes in almost everything that the bros throw at her. 6 episodes in and Yusuke is awful. It like I'm advocating Tsubaki/Futo's approach
of trying mount Chii/Ema in public places
.

So far the series continues to live up the op's facetious description.

Oh yeah the troupe are kicking ass,I've always wanted to know about the others ability, now I finally get to see what there capable of with this arc, anything with the troupes is awesome.

The boxers ability was bizarre & cool at the same time using his odd body to create sound through dance.

Also, I seem to recall Nozomi's mother mentioned that she was actually worse than Nozomi (at least on the housework side of things) when she was that age. So presumably Nozomi too will grow out of being useless with time, but her positive attitude is for life!

What I'm trying to say is, Nozomi is totally waifu material.
It might happen but she does have some serious work to do before reaching that point lol

To LOVE-ru Darkness: 06

Nothing Ecchi happened this episode
except for Momo and Mea molesting Riko, and nude Run, and...
, but it finally finished up a plot point of the To LOVE-ru series: Run and Ren.
Turns out they split into two individual people when they become adults
. So logically, that means one less Male character in the show...

It does have some vastly different reactions. However even some people who are like Tomoko a lot seem to enjoy the show at different levels. Some laugh at it, some cringe at it., but it has little to do with life experiences.

Maybe life experiences isn't the proper term to use but I think we can agree that events that occurred in the past can change how you interpret things in the future. If I didn't go through similar (read: similar, not the same) situations to Tomoko I wouldn't have any reference for being able to relate to her position as well as I can now.

So which interpretation did you make it out with?
That Tomoko is being a generally bad person just because the social position she stand in?

Also, life experience? Are you telling me that I maybe naive if I actually want people to behave normally and be ''good'' people?

My interpretation is that Tomoko suffers from depression and social anxiety. She realizes this and attempts to change this throughout the series. She frequently fails and retreats to her safetey bubble where recent events cause her to reinforce her own negativity and self-superiority which is her way of coping with the pain of failure and loneliness. It's clearly evident (even the most recent episode) that positive social situations chip away at the facade that she's constructed. It's pretty telling when she never verbalizes her negativity to the random people that communicate with her. The only thing she's done that I could classify as "bad" to another was when she cheated in the card game.

So there's that interpretation, or she could just be a really terrible person undeserving of pity or understanding. Also screw people with social anxiety?

I'm not sure what the second part of your post is trying to get across. I mentioned life experiences because those can give additional and/or necessary context when it comes to analyzing the actions or thoughts of someone who has went through similar situations as you. You say you want people to behave in a way that's "normal" and "good". I don't believe that telling someone they are terrible for coping with their own pain (that's not even negatively affecting people in public) and telling people to screw themselves is conducive to that purpose.

I'm sorry to hear about that. This is what I mean when I say that the past can/will affect how you interpret various things in the future. Perhaps if things happened differently you would have a different reaction to show. It's also possible your reaction would remain the same for whatever reason.

I'm not a wordsmith but I tried my best to get my views across in a way that's understandable.

Before I reply to your entire post, I have to say this.

Thanks for taking that certain comment out of context. Well done, you have won the argument. I don't really feel like replying to you if you are cherry picking my comment to support whatever you are trying to say, just because.

One of the bloody thing I hate about GAF and its really sad its crept in AnimeGAF.

I'm finally caught up to HxH 2011. I started around episode 36 and in 2 weeks finally reached episode 96. I don't know what studio animates HxH 2011, but I can now see why the show ends up in the top 10 anime's being watched in Japan weekly. The show has a great story and the action is amazing, especially on the latest episode.

So over time I grew to like a few characters I used to dislike. I used to hate Gon because he never fought but that changed. Kilua I thought was too OP, but
that changed showing how actually he gets beat up a few times.
Kurapika I still dislike, even though I read his special chapter. I still don't like his whole revenge ordeal. Leorio NEEDS MORE SCREENTIME, he's one of my favorite of the 4 mostly because of his design and he seems like the comedic relief in the group.

If HxH keeps surprising me then it may end up being my #3 favorite shounen anime behind Gintama and One Piece.

It was a great ride up to this point. At first I was watching about 3 episodes a day, and then next thing you know it I was watching 7 a day.

After some reflecting I've come to the conclusion that this thread has become a bit more hostile since I started posting here.

I thought it would be healthy to communicate more since I usually lurk and it was not my intention to stir the pot. It's probably for the best if I stop posting and I apologize if I offended anyone with my previous posts.

Watamote brings out the worst in people, unfortunately.

I apologise for my tone. It was perhaps quite offensive.

Its just that I really hate when people do cherry-pick my comment in which they make me feel bad about having opinion on things

It doesn't excuse my behaviour, and I hope you stick around.

I might as well not speak of the matter again, especially now that I was made out to be the ''bad person'' :/

Psycho-Pass went south really fast :( Real shame since I liked the futuristic setting.
While I thought the show was so-so I actually have a bit of hope for the second series.
The antagonist is gone, the brooding guy in on the run and AnimeGAF's waifu is now a independent woman who take no funny business from no one!

Yeah you have a point lol. I probably was never truly an introvert but I used to enjoy being alone. I get bored being alone now. Im a bit weird anyway.

I think you're awesome! Your energy and enthusiasm really come across well to me. Wish I could be more like that...trying to be, anyway.

Well I can guarantee that Leorio will get more time at least... but not till after the Chimera Ant arc (which might as well be the last arc left to be animated).

I'm not sure why it is so hard for some people to watch the daily struggles of a completly unlikeable character like Tomoko. She is basicaly a 2ch troll in anime character form. But you can have sympathy for "bad" people.

Though the self-insert stuff is also pretty creepy.

For me, it's the little things in Watamote that ring true. Getting startled when someone suddenly interacts with me, being overtly self-conscious, discomfort at joining in on a group, discomfort when told to 'find a partner for this piece of homework', being picked last for teams during PE, being ignored, a sibling who is completely the opposite. It all reminds me of middle school, a terrible time, but I appreciate this feeling of genuinety I get when watching the show, despite it being exaggerated and represented in a dramatic fashion. My personal Tomoko moment is probably the entire class taking a picture at a sports event, without me in it, and it's THAT kind of sting the author really conveys well.

And I think that deserves credit.

I think the problem some may have is that for most stories of this sort, there is some sort of outlet or escape.

Even Aku no Hana and Fap Note offer happy endings to their anti-social and isolated protagonists. I suppose for some people, Watamote exists as a sort of emotional torture porn with no real "pay off".

I like Watamote. The reasons, though, I find difficult to put into word. I don't find Tomoko rude, bad, evil, unlikeable, whatever.

I'll probably do some elaborate write-up after the last episode. I anticipate it probably going on S.O.S.

Yes this is the crux of the issue. There is little to no growth for Tomoko. She doesn't learn any lessons and continues stewing in her own self made messes.

There was some new anime adaptations announced this morning.

Nameko/Mushroom Garden Game Apps Get Anime

Software developer BeeWorks announced on Tuesday that Nameko-ke no Ichizoku (Mushroom Family), an anime adaptation of its Osawari Tantei Nameko Saibai Kit (Touch Detective: Mushroom Garden) smartphone app and spinoffs, has been been green-lit.

There's already a short promotional video for it.

I do enjoy the games on my Android so I wouldn't mind seeing what they did with this.

Mikakunin de Shinkōkei Comedy 4-Panel Manga Gets Anime

The November issue of Ichijinsha's Manga 4-Koma Pallete magazine is announcing a television anime adaptation of Cherry Arai's Mikakunin de Shinkōkei (literally, "Unconfirmed & In-Progress") four-panel manga on Saturday.

The comedy revolves around Kobeni Yonomori, who on her 16th birthday suddenly has a young man with little presence named Hakuya Mitsumine and his younger sister Mashiro appear in front of her. It turns out that Hakuya is her fiancee, and Mashiro is her future sister-in-law. The three (and Konbeni's older sister Benio) start living together underneath the same roof, and hilarious happenings occur.

This is why she's like Charlie Brown. She tries, and she kicks the football as hard as she can. It's just that she's her own Lucy and she ends up sabotaging herself because of her own anxiety. It's something I can relate to anyway, which is why I keep rooting for her even though I know she'll miss that kick every time.

For a gentler version of the Watamote story, people could always read Waratte Sotomura-san. It's actually the same thing, but less wahjah because she's basically the dude from Toradora.

An excellent manga.
The greatest manga after Molester Man.
I still need to read Molester Man... those rough panels though...
But yes, best manga. lol

Neither do I. I really do kind of identify with her. She seems to want to change, but has a very difficult time taking any steps to make that happen. That's a lot like how I was when I was younger. And still am to a certain extent.

...You know, with titles like Molester Man and Masturbation Master, I can kind of see where the rest of GAF gets those ideas about AnimeGaf...

Well, it's not like everyone is straight up lying, they're just cherry picking support and drawing mentally lazy conclusions from it. Obviously there is that component, but it's been there for decades already and it's hardly the only component. People who decry moe and lolis after 2000 should know that the 1980's was the decade of lolicon.

Titles are totally misleading in these cases.
After all real smutt usually are titled more subtly. (See: To Love-ru)
There are exceptions of course like "Takumi ga Seitenkan shite Fuck sare makuru Monogatari" which well... Is as literal as you can name a manga I think. The smutt equivalent of Oreimo.

I'm not saying I agree with the conclusions. I just found the titles kind of funny in that sense.

Also, nobody be taking my To LOVE-ru away from me....

Aoi Bungaku - Kokoro 1 & 2

Since these were aired back to back, I figured I should discuss them together.

Kokoro was written by Natsume Soseki, and is Japan's best-selling novel of all time. This story was directed by Shigeyuki Miya, whose direction credits include Buzzer Beater, a sports anime I've never heard of (the synopsis says that it follows humans playing against aliens in the near future), this story, the Supernatural anime, and Blood Lad.
Ah yes, the whole "let me reinterpret this work of classic literature even though I'm just an anime director" shtick. I suppose that's interesting in concept but, as you point, it really leaves a lot to be desired.

On the plus side you can now get to the best "arc" in the series!

First they came for our butts. Then our To Love-ru

And yeah, Masturbation Master Kurosawa quickly becomes about something else entirely.
You can argue the same about Molester Man really. The title describes even less about the overall plot than Kurosawa
