Super Mario 3D All-Stars |OT| So Long So Long Gay Bowser

85 stars in mario 64 now...Lovin' it

The camera was upsetting early on because I was trying to treat it like a modern camera designed for dual analogs. Things are going way better now I deprogrammed my brain from thinking that way

I mean, yeah, but that particular screen also looks technically impossible for the Wii. The way stuff is so rounded and clean, it looks a generation, if not a little more, ahead of what it should. There's 360 and PS3 games that pale in comparison to that.
Same goes for Skyward Sword, snd Other M.

The next Switch needs to have pressure sensitive triggers and have Joycons that are closer in ergonomics to the Split Pad Pro. It's a little annoying that you don't have as much control over the FLUDD as you did in the Gamecube version, and it's like theyve made backwards progress in a way from their 2001 hardware. It is evident in many other games as well

This is such a good collection of games. Been playing for 5 hours now and it's be so good! Games look great and it's cool to see the evolution which led to Ofyssey. Going from 64 to Sunshine to Galaxy seeing the introduction of new perspectives/control schemes and things Mario can turn into. Each game is very different from the next but the lineage show Mario's worlds gaining in complexity. Both in geometry and in the many ways Mario gets around. A legendary trilogy right here.

This is why I'm hoping they patch the gamecube controller adapter in. It's my only big complaint really.

Been looking for the last red coin in the snow level for like 40 minutes lol.

EDIT: Just found it. Im really glad I didn't look that up. Pretty well hidden

Been a couple decades since I played it, but doesn't the pause menu show you the locations?

Even though we were all mind blown by mario 64 back in the day, we knew the camera controls were kind of eh ... not great. It was the common complaint about the game. And we were doing that shit on the n64 controller. We also didn't wear seatbelts in cars

Would've been cool if they offered a "DS mode" for 64 so that you could play the minigames again and use the DS-specific characters. That version will probably will be forever trapped on the DS.

I wouldn't have minded that. Don't think I'd want to revisit the main game, but some of those mini games were pretty fun. Still such a bizarre port, though.

The abstract levels in Sunshine are probably the best of the kind they have ever done. Champion Roads and all are a bit too Impossible Lair-ish in comparision. Sunshine's levels are fair and have just right balance of challenge and frustration.

Let's see if I change my mind when I get to the sandbird. I have liked that one a lot too before.

My girlfriend only played the DS version of 64 when she was a child and was a little disappointed to discover that they weren't part of the original game and are not included on this.

As an aside Nintendo should make a Mario minigame collection for Switch.
Mario Minis - a collection of minigames that can be played online in some kind of tournament.

I just played a few hours before going to bed yesterday, started with 64.
Got every star from the first three paintings (except the one in Jolly Roger Bay that needs the metal hat), including the 100 coins ones.
Got a few "secret" stars too.
Spent way too long getting the 8 red coins in the winged hat level though... those damn controls...

I... need... MOAR! Why do I have to work today of all days... :messenger_loudly_crying:
At least I'll be home on the 26 for the HW:AoC showcase.

36 Stars into Mario 64. This game must have been mind blowing at the time of release. I remember being in gobsmacked playing Metal Gear Solid, Tenchu and Final Fantasy 7 and I can't help but imagine that same feeling permeated N64 players.

Just %100 Super Mario 64.

Mario 64 is better than I remember. Their was a little bit of jank and the camera was not so good towards the end but it was a blast to play and since i've been watching some speedruns of it I thought practicing my shmovement would be fun. I died quite a bit but I don't regret it.

Awesome game. Now moving on to Sunshine, i'm hoping that it isn't as tedious as I think it will be. I'll probably only go for completion right now since it'd be my first time doing so but i'll try and collect as much as I can.

Holy shit how did you manage it that fast? I really suck at this!

Crazy. Only took you one day. You should see the speedrunners go berserk in Super Mario 64 lol, so much fun watching those vids haha
How many times have you completed each of the three games?

Lots of really old YouTube videos are suddenly going to see a spike in viewers - nice cash bonus for the guys who made guides many many years ago.
