I have a super spoilery spoiling question for those who have 100% the game:
Do any more levels unlock once you've beaten the game with all 5 characters, or just the last 5 stamps?

I loved that
trollish mystery house
in flower world. These levels are all remixes, but they're pretty well done. That dark piranha level will be a bitch to get all stars on.

Haven't played the NSMB Wii (U) games yet, but is this the biggest Mario game? Sure seems that way

COMPLETE!!

Yes I completed this game today. By completion I mean I went through all the worlds to the end and rescued the rainbow people. And I never used a Golden Tanooki or got a Game Over screen.

I'm a bit disappointed by the ending unless there's an alternative ending.

On the whole though I thoroughly enjoyed it. Shame a Miiverse post at the end of one of the levels
spoiled the secret about Rosalina being in the game.

This game definitely has more depth than NSMB U. Music here is better and the levels in 3D World are much more imaginative. Also, Mario in 3D World has the most amount of different skills available to the player in a very long time.

I also loved NSMB U too.

This game's biggest sin is introducing so much cool shit only for some things to be barely utilized. I'm getting deja vu to the Galaxy games and wishing I could use Boo and Ice Mario more.

The game is good... but honestly its nothing special.

It's great, but I have to agree that GAF got a bit hyperbolic with glee for it. It's got nothing on the design, ingenuity, soundtrack and sense of adventure in the SMGs, IMO. I'm also a bit bummed at how short and easy it felt. But it's definitely neat to be able to play as multiple characters! And the cat power-up turned out way, way better than I thought (even though if makes easy shit even easier).

I'm also into the Toad mini-levels. They didn't look like anything special at all in preview vids, but were definitely charming and fun breaks from the main game in practice.

I miss some of the SMG power ups so much, including the Cloud power up. Kind of wished some of them got added to the core group of power ups that go on to other games.

i got the game for Christmas

its a fun game , its just a 3d land DLC

still a brilliant game though

Its really not "just 3d land dlc" having played both games back to back. I can say confidentiality that although it borrows elements from 3d land the level design is very different.calling it dlc would mean its more of the same. 3d world is on a completely nother level than 3d land. But you are right it is brilliant.

Anyone else want them to sit down and make a platformer based on this co-op/competitive style? I don't it works nearly as well as it should.

Got this game for Christmas yesterday. Played it with my brother over 10 hours in two sessions (1x 3h, 1x >7h). Great, great game. We defeated Bowser earlier today. But guess what? The game won't stop and it keeps getting better and better. The amount of creativity is insane. GOTY.

Playing multiplayer with family is honestly the most fun I've had playing videegames in over a decade. Game is an absolute blast. No way is this a 3d land dlc. That's retarded

Just cleared all levels with the hidden character to unlock something. I don't think I can do it four more times to get the last four unlockables. =(

Man, still obsessing over this game's soundtrack. Beat the game for the first time about 2 days ago. Just WOW at that boss ending sequence.
Seeing all those Double Cherry, Cat Bowsers climbing up the tower towards the end, and the rain and music and... just so good.

I'm currently working on 100%-ing this game, and I've managed to 100% every world up to the Mushroom world. I didn't get all the gold flags though, heh.

Just beat
Champion's Road
, and I gotta say...fuck. Took me upwards of 100 lives spread over multiple game overs, more than I used for Grandmaster Galaxy. The crazy thing is that in the first 3 areas the level design is so simplistic, yet still manages to kill you over and over again. The fourth area can go die in a fire though, especially that last part. It was like the 4th section Grandmaster all over again. Looking forward to the next iteration in the next 3D Mario game!

So now a question for the 100% people, I noticed
I'm missing the five character portrait stamps, I assume you get these by beating every level with every character?

Got this for Christmas from my Mum and I can totally understand why that reviewer said that the game made it look like everyone has been doing HD wrong. I thought it was hyperbolic at first but the visuals in this game are jaw dropping.

Indeed they are.

I really can't wait to see what else EAD Tokyo and Nintendo in general has in store for us in the future.

Whatever it is, it'll be pretty.

Been playing the game for the last couple of days and it's incredible, it feels so full and interactive, exactly how a Mario game should be. The only thing I may complain about is how short the levels are but there's quite a lot of them so it kind of makes up for it.

I would love to see Nintendo make a true sequel to Mario 64 using the 3D World engine.

The 3d World's engine wasn't really made for that kind of gameplay. The one "camera behind Mario, open area" shows the short draw distance pretty clearly.

Finally made it to
Crown World - Champions Road

There is no way. I actually feel a bit intimidated. Is this like a survival horror for my mechanical skills :^/

I fell ashamed to say I only beat this level using a tanooki suit when I died I closed the game and opend it again.

It's actually not as difficult as Special 8-Crown on Super Mario 3D Land -- but it's still very difficult.

I found it much harder. I love this special levels. Really nice tradition.

So anyone got any tips for the TRUE final level... the one that makes you feel like a champion upon completion?

Practice.

They're are only two hard sections.

You can bring power ups, but I did it without any power ups as a personal challenge.

I finally reached the
casino/Bowser
World. Play time is about 9 hours so far but I've got every star and stamp in the first
7
worlds. I'm really liking the game though even if the levels are a tad short.

Very cool game. I got this for my son (5 year old) who was all about Mario this Christmas. He mostly played XBox 360 and Ipad games previously. He's loving it and so am I.

This game really solidifies the Nintendo brand for me. Playing it, I "get it" as to why you'd choose this console over the others if you have kids. Or even if you dont. I feel like this is something I'd buy and then pick one of the XBone/PS4 as well.

And i still have yet to play Zelda!

No one in the hate thread is answering my question, so.

If I were playing through this game with the pro controller (which is my plan), how do touch and microphone parts work?

Maybe I misunderstand how the pro controller works then. Can I play with two players, one on a gamepad and one on the pro controller? I was planning on buying a Wind Waker bundle, 3DW, and a pro controller so I could play two-player.

Yes, player one will use the gamepad, player two will use the pro controller.
