In my case, I merely asked what was going on with my pre-order via e-mail and the customer service representative "serviced" my order by giving it one-day shipping. However, doing so seems to have pushed me to the back of the order queue, since I no longer have an estimated delivery date.
Anytime I've changed payment info, address, or speed on items that were preordered close to release date I've always been pushed back at least 3-4 days in estimated delivery.
If I need to change any info close to release I usually just cancel the order and go get it from somewhere else. Although in your case you really don't have a choice. Hopefully it gets remedied.
