This is hard to say.. but.. I've never played Super Punch-Out. Maybe I've played it once for like 2 minutes at a mall or something, but certainly not for any extended period of time. Hell, I think I played that Virtual Boy Teleroboxer game more than this one. :lol

Go look at Soul Calibur II sales on GameCube and get back to me on that 'whoring of characters' argument...
For multi-console gamers, would you guys actually buy NBA Street V3 or Fight Night R2 because of the exclusive content? I don't think these extra features are enough to get me to buy the Nintendo versions...online mode greatly outweighs the exclusive features. Sure it's nice that Nintendo is making good relations with EA but it's not gonna get me to buy the Nintendo versions
I guess Gamecube only owners will buy em since it has Nintendo content in them though

Yeah it's pretty sad that Sega is the only company ambitious enough to support Nintendo's BBA up to this point.
I can't believe you're all defending the thread starter. He posted some "news" and offered up no evidence that it was true, where he got his info from, who he was, etc. He was then an asshole to the people that didn't believe him.
It took like 50+ posts to extract out of him that he was a gaming journo. I mean I'm a gaming journo and if I cam across a scoop its common courtesy to say in my initial post that I came across it in my line of work. That isn't me "bragging."

Well you could see it as whoring but maybe EA respects and appreciates Nintendo sitting down with them to help think of ways to improve sales of EA titles on the Gamecube? Maybe because of this, EA will also help Nintendo with their next console too, citing the good faith and relations that Nintendo has shown them? I don't even own a Gamecube but people always cry that Nintendo isn't doing enough to attract third parties and when they do, people say they are whoring themselves. It always seems like a lose/lose proposition for Nintendo. People will always find a way to hate on them. :lol

I'm not particularly bothered about Mario characters in NBA street, but this is pretty nice. I'm seriously considering this one.
And Konami definately have me on Gamecube DDR. I've wanted that for ages. The character whoring just means people other than me will want it now too.

might not do harm sales wise but it does show alot about how desperate nintendo is right now. Sort of like one of those washed up celebs who do 1800 collect commercials.
If your such nintendo fans go to a store that sells preowned snes games and pick up super punchout for 5 dollars.

Bah, no amount of nostalgic greatness is gonna make me buy a POS game. It was a good gesture from EA to try and find a way to sell their GC games, but me being the super anti-EA biased man I am, won't touch the game as anything EA leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Filthy bastards ruining the industry. If I want Super Punch Out, I'll turn on my SNES. Nice try EA, but Shit with sprinkles is still Shit.

Mario's still insanely popular. His 3d adventures aren't as accessible as his 2d ones though. I think any downturn in following is probably because of that.
It's Nintendo's middle of the road Gamecube that isn't en vogue. Gamecube is just a last option for many people - because not only is it not the most powerful, but it doesn't have all the hyped games to make up for it.
I don't think it's anything to do with their franchises. The other manufacturers would kill for those kind of brands.
