Man people talking about tiers and broken characters before a game is even out annoys the hell out of me -.-

You should check the other games' tiers throughout the years.

People are too busy playing the demo :p

Nintendo had it all planed...

I guess it will require more testing then along with every character's strengths and weaknesses.

Well of course, everything needs more testing, this is just a demo with 2min battles and 5 characters. But judging by how it works, I really don't think it's intentional.

wtf, nobody's talking about tiering the characters, lol especially not for a demo with 2min battles.
We're just discussing if this unintended (?) thing Megaman can do is broke or not.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Even if megaman can up+b out of a combo, does he not get left completely vulnerable on the way down?

Watched some of ZeRo's demo impressions and the game looks really solid and Mario looks like a ton of fun to play. Can't wait to see/read more impressions.

He's not completely vulnerable since he can attack/jump/air dodge. He doesn't go into free fall like say, Mario does after his up+B.

But it does take a bit of time for him to be able to attack/jump/air dodge.

Yeah, seriously. If Mega Man jumps out of it, punish him!

Also, I'm so happy to see Starman as an enemy. I hope that Sakurai adds a couple more. How about Master Belch as a Smash Run mini-boss? :D

I read about tiering and broken things a lot in this and the previous thread, I don't know/care who said it, no one can know those things until they test all characters at least. It was just a comment.

another 19 minutes footage :_O

i want US demo now

Is there a button list anywhere for the demo, I have no idea how to play. Right now just button mashing and hoping for the best. I am using Link.

Hes trying to glitch the game to see if he can get more of the roster. What's killing me is the other characters data probably aren't even programmed into the demo and its just icons...so hes just wasting his time.
Well how big is the demo? It took ages for Zero to download it. If it was really big, there could be more than what we're seeing.

Indeed. The only character data in the demo is just the character portraits and their selection icons most likely.

From memory:

A - standard attacks
B - special attacks / Final Smash
X/Y - jump
R - shield (press A during shield to grab)
L - grab
Circle Pad - move
D-Pad - taunt

But who would want to hurt Mega Man?

I don't see the big deal in Mega Man being able to escape combos. His Up Special does zero damage.

He can attack out of his Up+B after a bit of airtime, lol

It's only about 1000 blocks, sounds like he has slow internet. :p

Maturity, bitches.
Wonder what Wario enemies there will be. See Land is more suited for giving us enemies, but Ware seems to be the focus of Wario's representation. At least give us the Block.

I think it won't. It's a tricky character and a tool like this is needed to escape from being caught defenseless at close range.

Maybe later as the 1vs1 meta game develops, but honestly, in FFA matches, it'll hardy make any difference.

Well yeah but people aren't referring to FFAs. I don't think he needs a tool to escape either, ideally you'd just zone them out with fair/bair and his projectiles and just avoid the situation...if you fail to do so, you get punished. So I disagree he needs it.
Plus getting hit by Pikachu's fair/bair at 300% and still being able to escape with Up+B is wtf and stupid.

I agree and think in the end it'd just be an annoyance and not game-breaking, Megaman goes too far up to start any combos, and it's only really an issue at early percent.

I really can't tell if this game has comobs or not. Zero is making it like a really good game with a lot of combos. Mew2king's stream is making it a bad game with 0 combos.

Just finished playing for five or six hours. I'll put up my full impressions later. It's a fun game and does feel very different.

New ledge game is superior. They made the right decision here for sure. It just feels right. It's never fun to be the victim of a gimp kill.

Airdodges seem a little too good. You can't airdodge out of hitstun like in Brawl, but you can airdodge over and over again and there's almost no startup. I think I saw Villager airdodge like three times from a fullhop. This makes comboing a lot harder and I haven't figured out how to punish airdodges consistently yet. Opponents fall very slowly while tumbling making them easy pickings for combos. It's probably for the best that the airdodge is good, since otherwise Smash 4 might have had even crazier combos than Smash 64

I cannot resist tier list speculation:

A - Pikachu, Mario
B - Link
C - Villager, Mega Man

Pikachu and Mario both live in Combo City. Pikachu's Fair autocancels and is a good approach. Mario's Fair groundbounces, setting you up for a spike if the opponent misses the tech.

Villager is really tough to play as, but I've figured out a few neat tricks. If your opponent is between you and a seed, use the watering can. It will push them on top of the seed while it grows into a tree. Good finisher if you can get it set up. Overall, Villager seems to have few combo options and his finishers are very slow.

Bonus:
Link dair spikes!
Villager walljumps!

Anything besides the demo happen in the last eight hours? No leaks?
Nothing really happened, just got some footage of the game finally.

I think it has combos, personally. I saw it happen on Denti's stream, which was far superior to VGBootCamp's. VGBC's was so lame I had to close it, they really made the game look stale.

You're partially right. Though air dodges were nerfed a bit, since if you air dodge to the ground, you get landing lag, so you want to avoid that. Air dodges are easily readable by human opponents so it's not the best option.

It already sounds like he isn't going to be bothering much with the 3DS version.

Well he apparently has worse hands than even me, and mine are starting to hurt already now, so I wouldn't be surprised if he's not playing the 3DS version that seriously.

There's definitely hard combos on the ground. You gotta be reactive in the air.

The thought just occurred to me that this and the wii u version could possibly be nintendos first foray into simultaneous cross platform development. I mean it is essentially the same game. This leads me to believe they are going to pursue this path with their future home console and handheld.
