Link - His smashes and tilts feel so powerful.

The Gust Bellows is ridiculous. Whoever gets that thing is guaranteed a kill or two. It is an instant win button for two minute matches.

Is t me or does Mega Man's side B seem useless? His A and tilt A is already all about a forward projectile. So let's give him... a forward projectile for a special.

And happy b-day Ash.

Less useless than leaf shield, but yeah. I barely use anything but his up B. SOMETIMES metal blade, but not often.

Of course it is. He's got that low-tier curse. At least he doesn't have the damn Mega Ball.

EDIT: Although now that I think about it, the Mega Ball was actually one of his best moves in MvC2. It controls tons of space.

I posted in this thread a few hours ago, I didn't realize it was a new one haha. I like the title, assuming this is the last one!

Happy Birthday Ash!

Well it's kinda Mega Man's thing. Most of what he does is shoot forward projectiles in his own game. (Though I guess we could cite Samus with the same issue)

Other characters have lot's of punches or sword slashes. I haven't played him yet but it sounds close to a Mega Man I'd play in the Mega Man series

Is side B the crash bomber or metal blade? Cause I was referring to the metal blade. The crash bomber could at least possibly make some weird situations.

Friends Only ;)

You're the best, thanks.

So it's LOCAL multiplayer with friends only? That's... kinda neat in a really crowded space full of gamers, i guess. Like conventions and stuff.

Side b is crash bomber, neutral b is metal blade. Metal blade is at least multidirectional, so you can throw it backwards mid-air. His aerials are his best moves, honestly. All 4 are pretty good. Crash bomber's range is so short that they usually can roll behind me and give it back to me.

Also, I think I read that link's shield blocked a crash bomber.

I noticed that EMB and theprodigy haven't post their stats. It was fun to read their stats.
We can do this!

Thead 15 tracked almost exactly the same as 14 until close to the end, where it pulled ahead quickly. The demo of course did wonders for it!

Masked Man

In order, it's:
  • With Anyone
  • With People You Know
  • Friends Only

where the second option probably works like Pokémon, where anyone you trade/battle with online during random sessions becomes an "acquaintance."

So Link got buffed and Marth got nerfed? I main the former for casual matches but the latter for serious ones. Don't know how to feel about this.

Seems that way, yeah. It's hard to say a ton about the balance without knowing the full picture, but people are saying Link feels really good.

Even as a Marth player, I'll be pretty happy about it if he ends up bad and Link ends up good. Link needs a chance to shine!

It breaks my brain to think that there may be a Smash game where Link is better than Marth. It goes against everything I know.

Well, leaf shield can cover from some hits, metal blade can always be shot in 8 directions and Crash Bomber will explode a while after. They all seem good for combo potential, like Link's specials. People don't complain about Link having 3 projectile specials.

That's... uh... interesting. Most games basically give you the one option of 'open lobby and have people join.' I mean, at home, and for 99% of consumers the 'with anyone' thing works, at least for local multiplayer. The other 2 are really only good in crowded areas, which I suspect is more common in japan.

I wonder if there will be a 'people you know' option for online? I assume not, right? Friends/anyone only, right?

I wish NOA would just tell us we're not getting a demo this week so I didn't have to waste time being hopeful.

I guess it will be like Kid Icarus online with anyone. Once you find a room, you will play against the same guys until they leave the room :p

I remember a point in early Brawl tiers where Bowser was above Fox (and it looks like that might actually be true this time). Crazy things can happen going from game to game. It's great.

Anyone think it will be easy to play 2v2 in this game online WITH 1 friend, AGAINST 2 randoms? Pokemon botched this with multi battles.

For a fighting game, i'd like the OPTION of challenging them again or refreshing my opponents. If it was a good, even match, i'd like to rematch. If it was incredibly one-sided, one way or the other, i'd like a new opponent.

I'm not getting my hopes up for it, but I'd absolutely adore it if that was a thing. I'd love to play online w/ my bros (literally my brothers... not 'bro' bros) in a tag-team against randoms.

Blast cielings are way too high, for sure.

I've seen a few players surviving over 100% with a Smash attack.

Am I the only one not bothered by that? IIRC Smash 64 had very far blast areas as well, I remember crazy recoveries even well above 100%: that was hype.

Not always great. A moment of silence for our fallen hero, Brawl Falcon.

Any details on what Link's improvements entail?

That would be hilarious.

Better dash attack, better back roll, better vertical distance on his up b, tethering distance is huge (but maybe not as big as E3?). Even though I main link, I don't know all the technical details, but I do know his 'game feel' is much better. He just feels more responsive, not as much ending lag on some moves. N-air/back air are also fantastic now. Barely any startup lag on them, and no landing lag on them.

I'm sure Sakurai is eager to release a demo to the people who leaked his game.

I'm pretty sure Nintendo isn't composed by kids throwing rage fits, so I think the leak has nothing to do with the decision of releasing a demo for a highly anticipated game in two major territories (USA/EU). I can understand PotD trolling, but the demo is a whole other story.

The impressions of this game sound great. It sounds like it's in a good middle ground between melee and brawl, albeit a little closer to brawl, which is fine.

The only thing I wouldn't get my hopes up for is that this game is going to be anywhere near "balanced". This game has nearly 50 characters... it's just not going to happen. But if you're like me, and that doesn't bother you too much, it shouldn't be an issue. As long as the upper "tiers" are at least a little spread out with multiple options, I feel like most parties should be happy.
