I think meteor attacks were definitely intended to be used off stage, so that seems reasonable to me. If you use Jigglypuff rest or Falcon Punch and fail to KO your opponent, punishment is fair.

I don't think it's reasonable at all honestly.

They already reduce the moves usefulness by increasing the landing lag, making it even worse by making the move unsafe not on whiff, not on block, but on hit is ridiculous if you ask me.

Atleast a successful rest or falcon punch actually sends the other player away from you so it's about deciding if it's worth the risk if you don't kill them, for this, the other player doesn't move at all, they stay in the exact same position you hit them with and can retaliate with whatever they please.

Actually, wouldn't you tech meteors before?
I think so, but now characters who are on the ground go down, then up, and they can tech that and punish you during your landing lag for using a meteor while they are on the ground.

Did I use the words right?

When the fuck was this made? lol

Also anytime but November would be idiotic. Nintendo aren't usually stupid in this regard. They will pull a Wind Waker if needed.

People expecting Smash to hit before Black Friday:

Don't forget that Brawl released on December 3rd! While I imagine they want to make Black Friday if they can, there's a real chance it could be early to mid December if they can't manage it.

The big thing is getting it out there for Christmas, regardless of when. And digital sales help reach more people I'm sure, because this is one game I imagine is going to sell out everywhere. Partially because I imagine stores will underestimate demand since it's a Wii U title.

You could tech meteors before, but only if the other player was in the air when you hit them, if you hit them with a meteor smash on the ground, they instantly got popped up.

This time if they're on the ground they must have some downwards knockback before they get popped up, meaning they can tech it before they've even moved from that position and punish you almost instantly just for successfully attacking the other player.

Holy shit, I just noticed Pikachu's Down B special considers Pikachu in a reflect state? Look at :40 s in, you can clearly see Mario throw a fireball only to get it reflected somehow.
EDIT: I think he picked up a badge :O my mistake

Yup. Franklin Badge.

No, it didn't.

Uh... brawl didn't release on December 3rd haha

Oh, right it was Melee. Sorry I got those mixed up, it's been a long time.

Either way the Smash Bros series has a history of weird release windows.

Ugh. Another thing that has me upset: It'd make sense if this was the Green Hill default music in the 3DS, with the actual, Genesis Mix being the alternate (Or a new Green Hill remix as the default and this as the alternate), but Sonic Heroes being in the trailer really has me fearing that we're getting the original Green Hill and that.
What goes up must come down
Yet my feet don't touch the ground
See the world spinning upside down
A mighty crash without a sound

I can feel your every rage
Step aside I'll turn the page
Breakin' through your crazy maze
Like a laser beam my eyes on you

Watch me rule the night away
Watch me save the day
Feel my storm its getting close
Heading your way!

Sonic Heroes! Sonic Heroes!
Blind you confine you defying your reign
Sonic Heroes! Sonic Heroes!
Setting the stage for a heroes parade

But how easy is it to do?

Well, it was slated to release on December 3rd - the point being that Nintendo isn't committed to releasing blockbuster games before Black Friday. So there's no guarantee that Smash for Wii U will release in November, either.

The Wii wasn't depending on Brawl to keep it alive. I don't think SSB Wii U can be compared to any other Ninty release.

I don't know which is the 5th he's talking about but I did not like DK64 and didn't like
actually, didn't play, sorry :(
the rhythm games.

The 5th is the actually quite bad Jet Racing or something like that was called xD

The thing is Jungle beat was a great platformer with stunning visuals. Donkey Konga touched my guitar hero love in the right place :p

Mario's victory animations (finally got all three to trigger)

1. Fire-ball charge
2. Arm twist, end on face close-up
3. Mid air twirl and fist pump

Still got nothing on Villager.

The Wii U isn't in some sort of make-it-or-break-it situation, though. It's doing fine. Smash Bros is a big title that will push a lot of sales, and they absolutely want it out for the holiday season, but they've got other titles like Hyrule Warriors that will move units too.

The whole "if you're not number one you're gonna diiiiiiiiiiiieeeeeee" mentality with consoles is really strange.

But how easy is it to do?

Hard to get a CPU to use a meteor to me whilst I'm on the ground.

But if it's something that's possible in the game, people are going to do it and people are going to get good at it.

It's not something that matters for casual play but it's really disheartening for competitive play, this and the apparently spammable air dodge, massive blast zones and boring offstage game have made me a lot less hyped for the final release than I was when I started downloading the demo.

I'm still annoyed at some of the needlessly large endlag on some moves, it should atleast be reduced on hit dammit, successfully hitting someone with an unsafe move and then not being able to follow it up with anything is really unsatisfying if you ask me.
