It's not "any of the characters you want" though. If there's a guy out there heartbroken over the lack of every single one of his dream characters, then my heart goes out to him.

But there's not. There's people that are clinging to Ridley and need to let it go and enjoy the video game's many other characters.

That Sakurai can be infuriating. Gives shout outs to old series like Duck Hunt. But when it comes to acknowledging the history of relevant franchises, he turns a blind eye.

In this case it's a her. None of the characters i wanted made it in. Although I should be thankful as every character I've wanted in Smash has either been terrible as soon as they were introduced, nerfed in the next game, or cut in the next game.

I'm surprised some people became fans of this series in the first place considering how little representation there is in the first game.

Of course I'm a reference fan so even a trophy pleases me.

For me the lack of blue tie for White DK is more tragic than the lack of Ridley.

Isn't Mega Man's custom up B actually different from his default one? Or maybe I misunderstood that POTD.

It's possible that one of his custom side B is the shoulder bash, but not holding my breath.

Who cares if its a great roster its a shit roster if I didn't get MY favorite character. /sarcasm

End all be all except for 64 every roster has its detractors and will never keep everyone happy simply because Nintendo has simply so many characters to choose from. I've never been disappointed by a roster.

A lot of people became fans with melee instead of the original.

The randomization of unlocking custom moves (I'm assuming this is still confirmed to be true) sounds both awful and really awesome at the same time because I can definitely see it promoting playing different characters to see what abilities they have. Hopefully it's somehow influenced by who you're playing so nobody ends up having the 621st unlock be the last one for their main lol

It's obviously too early to tell what the game is going to turn out like, but I do feel like the new game only focused on the immediately apparent Brawl flaws like speed, hitstun cancelling and tripping whilst extenuating or ignoring some of the, what I feel were, deeper problems with the Brawl mechanics.


The fact that speed is increased, the game is flashy and that combos actually exist means that the game by default will be more interesting than Brawl ever was, but I don't think as a competitive game it will last as long as Melee and I think Project M may even outlive it too.

Yeah, it's super lame. I'm praying that it's his side B variation, but it doesn't seem likely...

On the upside, his moves look a lot more fluid now. They're not as stiff and "cheap looking" like they were in Brawl. Even his down smash (a move I loathed) looks better since you can see the process him of him falling on his back and spinning.

that and adding in everyone is nigh impossible and would just be work overload/ insane lol

I can't see how anyone could complain about the roster. Although how much cooler and awesome would it have been if mega man, pac-man, palutena and some others weren't revealed so early? It would have been insane hype when the games came out and we found all these awesome secret characters.

The problem is we just have known about these awesome characters for a while now.

Yeah, WarioWare is way more memorable to me than WarioLand.

I was sort of hoping Sakurai could "cut" Wario into two characters, classic Wario, and WarioWare Wario.

I'm still holding on hope his Custom Moves serve that purpose.

Why the hell did people like Melee so much? The roster sucks!

I'd argue it has probably the worst newcomer selection.

Zelda/Sheik, Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Falco, and Marth were the only "iconic" adds in my mind, and two were clones. IC and GW were fun characters, but not really ones people wanted. The rest felt like a waste.

It's technically possible to implement the Beat customisation without as much reworking as you might think.

I'm guessing at least one of the characters you wanted in made it? I find it hard to believe that people can't believe that people have a problem with a roster that completely ignores two of Nintendo's major franchises.
