Is it possible that even though he can spring out of combos, he's still incredibly vulnerable in the air? He won't be able to attack or anything until he hits the ground, right?
At least in Brawl, non-offensive up specials didn't leave the character helpless. But I dont know if its still like that..

It was great at first, but then when you hear it a thousand times across the different menus of Brawl + different renditions of it it got really tiring. Also, after the initial hype of Brawl died down I don't really feel like the song is all that great to begin with -- like much of Brawl's aesthetic, it was trying to be a little 'too serious' and 'realistic'. I much prefer Smash 4's theme by far alongside Smash 64's and Melee's.

I get the repetitiveness I guess, but I thought the theme was the right amount of badass given all the hype behind the game. Maybe it's not a true reflection of how good the game is, but when it came out everyone on gaf was shouting "Game of the Forever!" and the theme will always remind me of that.

In a way that sounds sad... it reminds me of what could have been. At least we got Project M out of it though.

Oh my god, Black & Gold Peach!

No joke, I was at a convention once, and they had Mewtwo with a full-on Pittsburgh Steelers alt (The Steelers' colors are Black & Gold). I still don't know why someone sees Mewtwo and thinks "STEELERS," but I had to use it. And the con was in Pittsburgh, so it wasn't ENTIRELY out of nowhere. Just... why not Ike? We HAVE an Ike Taylor on the team!

It's a shame the Retro Mario color scheme was fake... :(

Seriously, I was using a Twitter person showing the images; do we know everyone's alts? Or at least everyone officially revealed? I know we can't share them here, but I must find them.

I figured the Wii U rumor release date was too good to be true.

I'm not sure that Mega Man tech is a glitch so much as it is a thing you can do with Mega Man. Just stop trying that combo, dude. It's not a combo.

Pardon me, but your name looks awfully familiar! :)

Didn't impressions already say there's not much use for Mario's down-throw anyway? I'd say try some other combos before calling shenanigans.

No, Mario's Dthrow is actually a good combo starter on every character in the demo against the CPU -- the only thing we're not sure of is how DIable it is. If DI is anything like the E3 build, then Mario's Dthrow will definitely function the way we've seen it against CPUs on human players.

Why would you be trying to use a meteor attack when you're over a stage, especially if someone is on the ground? All fighters should have non-meteor attacks, throws, and abilities they can use in that situation.

If the goal is to try to use a combo that worked in previous games, I think the answer is that the new balance and character designs may remove certain previous play mechanics, but introduce others.

Has anyone made a video / stream of spamming airdodges yet, so we can measure whether it's 1/10th of a second, and whether humans or CPUs can hit through it?

I just don't think it's good design to be punished for actually hitting with a move outside of counter specials, nor do I think it's a good idea to limit moves to being only useful for one situation, dilutes the character's playstyle and makes everyone who plays that character play very similarly.

I mean I hit the CPU with Mario's fair in sudden death and it instantly teched and hit me with it's own fair whilst I was stuck in landing lag, it's ridiculous.

Sure he can. It's just like G&W's up-B. He doesn't go into a special fall stake when he uses his up-B.

Oh okay. I guess we'll have to wait and see. Maybe it's an oversight they can patch later

Can someone explain why this would be a huge problem for competitive play? Would it elevate Mega Man to a higher tier because of his special advantage against down throw combos?

Seems to me that you'd just try a different approach.

I guess they'll have a September Nintendo Direct and announce the Smash U date there.

Nintendo has to cut it as close as humanly possible before announcing release dates, remember.
