Can someone explain why this would be a huge problem for competitive play? Would it elevate Mega Man to a higher tier because of his special advantage against down throw combos?

Seems to me that you'd just try a different approach.

It's not just down throw, it's any move at low % (!!). Mega Man is canceling the weak hitstun state with his Up B, you're not supposed to be able to do that. No approach will stop Mega Man from spamming Up B to break out -- you'll just be unable to combo Mega Man until the threshold when he goes into the stronger hitstun state (so probably 50% or above).

I didn't mention ledge-hogging anywhere.

It's boring because it's super easy to recover and the highly spammable air dodge means it's practically not worth the risk of jumping off stage after them, might as well just wait on stage to see what they do.

The only times I've ever been able to get a meteor smash offstage is when the CPU wasn't using the air dodge for no apparent reason.

couldnt you just bait out the air dodge?

Why would you be trying to use a meteor attack when you're over a stage, especially if someone is on the ground? All fighters should have non-meteor attacks, throws, and abilities they can use in that situation.

If the goal is to try to use a combo that worked in previous games, I think the answer is that the new balance and character designs may remove certain previous play mechanics, but introduce others.

Has anyone made a video / stream of spamming airdodges yet, so we can measure whether it's 1/10th of a second, and whether humans or CPUs can hit through it?
That's just limiting a character for no real reason. The ground bounce would've been a good reason to use meteors (in this example Mario's Fair) on the stage, but being able to tech it means that it's now not worth using it outside it's intended use off stage, which might not even be worth it if the air dodges are as spammable as JoeInky is saying.

I like how Lucina has pallet swaps with different hair colors, why couldn't Marth and Ike get some too...?

I'm also sad that Pallutena didn't get hair color changes...

No joke, I was at a convention once, and they had Mewtwo with a full-on Pittsburgh Steelers alt (The Steelers' colors are Black & Gold). I still don't know why someone sees Mewtwo and thinks "STEELERS," but I had to use it. And the con was in Pittsburgh, so it wasn't ENTIRELY out of nowhere. Just... why not Ike? We HAVE an Ike Taylor on the team!

Seriously, I was using a Twitter person showing the images; do we know everyone's alts? Or at least everyone officially revealed? I know we can't share them here, but I must find them.

Nintendoeverything man, look for a bit.
