People also need to keep in mind that while the character roster is the same between versions, the assist trophy and pokemon variety will be much greater in the Wii U version.

All the ones I've seen so far this time around. Even the obscure stuff like For the Frog the Bell Tolls and all that.

It's kind of sad because Smash Bros used to be how I learned about video games and characters I had never heard of. Now it's like I know everything... What else is there to discover? I dunno...

Can you clarify what Wario Whack is? I've played a lot of Wario in 64 DS but I don't recall him having a backfist.

I don't blame her. We've had 16 OTs over time (should've been in community) and there are about seven different threads in the first 5 pages of gaming.

Is this confirmed? I remember that PotD a while back seemed to hint at this, but the wording was rather vague.

I was think about Lucas... it makes no sense that he isn't in the game, especially that Ness doesn't even have his colors.

So, what if Nintendo is planning some Free DLC to market some games?

Like, Lucas is ready, but they will launch when they launch Mother 3 to Virtual Console? =P

Judging from the failed attempt at MC on intensity 9.0 that one streamer made yesterday, Master Core represents the inevitability of death.

But that'd mean Mk. II, Jill, Resetti, and the other ATs we haven't seen would also be DLC... which seems unlikely.

Is there any formal list of what trophies people have acquired anyway? I know most of the ones I saw the streamers get they didn't even pay attention to on the results screen. I'm hoping there's some cool, obscure characters that never got 3D models before in there. That was my favorite part about the melee trophies.

Honestly, maybe I'm fine with it because I love most of Nintendo's franchises so it doesn't bother me too much if representation isn't as fair as it should be

It's called a joke. Also it's a super safe option because I know it will definitely not be in the game so I avoid someone telling me that character example I gave is actually a trophy.

Already said Ridley is more likely to be a trophy in the Wii U version. It's also possible if Mewtwo and Dixie have trophies they are in the Wii U version.

Trophies tell us zilch.

There's been a really well-received Punch-Out game since Brawl, Duck Hunt is a retro classic that sold over ten times the amount of copies that the entire Golden Sun franchise sold. Rob is a strange and weird, but important part of Nintendo history, like Game & Watch.

Golden Sun is a set of two very good JRPGs and one middling one. None of which really set the world on fire.

I don't disagree, but it would be weird to have almost 700 trophies in the 3DS version and not have the most prominent Metroid boss, the third biggest Donkey Kong protagonist, and a legendary Pokemon as prominent as Mewtwo. Especially since all have gotten trophies in both Melee and Brawl.

Nope. There's a ton of Wii U exclusive content for them to show off. We'll probably get two or 3 more weeks of 3DS pics and then it's all aboard the Wii U hype train.

Considering that the Brawl Dojo didn't end until a month after the US launch, no.

I strongly doubt sales is the only contributing factor. Punch-Out Wii, Kid Icarus Uprising, Xenoblade Chronicles, Path of Radiance/Radiant Dawn, and many other games with representation sold pretty poorly.

One factor is that it mainly sold well in the US, whereas it barely sold in japan. However, that's kind of the same situation with Xenoblade.

Oh well, I never honestly expected Issac to get in, but my point is that general logic kind of goes out the window when discussing roster choices.

With Ness seemingly having Lucas' moves as customs, it seems weird they didn't try and at least make Lucas an alt skin for Ness with a name and sounds and his stick.

It's probably an easier costume that bowser jr because they could use exactly the same model skeleton and animations, they're basically just a head change

Yeah but so does Destiny, and nobody is bothered about it, I mean, if there's X threads in Y pages of gaming about Smash is because there's a lot of people interested in it, not because we are the same 4 people opening different threads about the same thing just to piss off other users/mods, now that'd be wrong
