It seems you join a one of 3 teams then in some matches earn points for that team...it is unclear if you have to play as that character though.

It's basically the same as the Warlock Punch except he uses the sword and thrusts it forward. It has better range.
Not mechanically, no, that's not how it works.

Well, it still would have been nice if this was his default and classic punch was a custom. I think people would have appreciated it more.
I like the new custom move, but we'll never stop whining.
So, how about that projectile?

What's the point of upgrades when this battle comes up lol
The opposite - all custom moves are unlocked gradually, along with equipment and Mii hats / outfits.
Warlock Stab, basically. lol
Nope, that's the only downside. You have to unlock them all. Gema is doing that now.

Which is why I stayed more general when describing custom moves in the OT.
I knew it wouldn't be limited to just these.

Definitely makes it seem like it'll be out of tourneys because of that. Since systems with all of that unlocked is a bigger issue than systems with all the characters.

That has literally no bearing on whether they'll be used in tournaments or not.
You can more than likely use the 3DS to unlock moves and characters on the WiiU version so it will be fine.
Equipment is never going to be used in tournaments though, apart from maybe a side tournament or something.

This Punch Out medley is out of this world. Like the hypest song in the world. Makes you want to jump around and punch stuff.

I really feel the Miiverse Update threads should come to an end when this topic runs its course. I know some people have made some excellent points on why they need to remain, but I feel like it fractures discussion. Why should I talk about anything Smash related in the official thread when more people are here and my posts about the game will have more feedback in this thread? I don't see the harm in moving everything to the excellent official thread. OTs are not solely for the discussion of gameplay mechanics, but anything revolving around the game itself. We can still discuss Miiverse updates in the OT as it relates to news about Smash, which typically OTs are used for. We all know these threads are not merely for discussion about Miiverse pics, but for Smash as a whole. This kind of discourse needs to be in the official thread.

I hope for Charizard's neutral specials they name them. I can imagine Ember and Fire Blast being his other two, ember being a long range fire ball and Fire Blast being more short range, burst ability. Or maybe name Fire Blast Overheat instead.
