Charizard alts really nail it! I can't believe how good they are, especially considering that the Brawl ones were a bit boring. Out of the colours, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th are more extreme versions of his Brawl alts.
4th, 7th and 8th are new. Need to see the wings colours before speculating about their origin though.
By the way, I don't think they intend for any of the alts to be the Shiny colouring. It may have to do with Shiny Pokémon being not just alternate colours, but also... shining.
The shiningness animation may have to do with it. It would feel wrong to put Shiny recolours without the respective animation, and I'm not sure if TPC would be okay with it either. It may be going into the territory of "alternate characters" in the same fighter (à la Olimar/Alph and the male/female counterparts), which we know Sakurai is always awkward about.
By the way, even the red-fur Pikachu isn't really shiny. The red and green fur Pikachu exist ever since the original Smash Bros., which was before shinies.

This is the moment where we learn that Rosalina and Bowser Jr. have really been Wario characters the whole time.
Have you (or anyone with 60fps recording/streaming capabilities) recorded jumping really high with Murabito, then spamming air dodges as fast as humanly possible on the way down, so we can measure if they're <= 1/10 second?
In addition, it would be interesting to see if it's possible for a level 9 CPU to hit you while you're falling, but you might want to make that a separate test.

They took out Sheik's incredible dark blue with red scarf alt and gave her another plain indigo one instead! King Dedede and Charizard are too same-y in their alt colors. Lucario has the worst colors ever. Pit, Diddy, Fox, and especially Lucina have the best new colors.
And I just noticed Sonic doesn't have a red alt unless you count his red shoes in his default.

Still... not in order... does not compute...If it bothers you, just consider Rosalina a SMG rep, and Bowser Jr. a NSMB rep
Sakurai is also just cruel, separating Bowser Jr. from his father. And the Koopalings from their boss.
We also learn that Shulk is a third party character, and that Lucina, Dark Pit, and Dr. Mario all come from the Clone Wars series.

Just curious - is Gaur Plains not a scrolling stage? The Shulk reveal made it look like it was. Maybe it only scrolls in the Wii U version?

I'm hoping we get more colors in the Wii U version, or as DLC. I just want more colors for Olimar. It's not fair that he's stuck with four, while Alph gets another four, but Pit and Dark Pit together make sixteen. And Little Mac gets sixteen anyway.

Little Mac got lucky since the hoodie was modeled for his entrance, so it would've been a waste not to make it an alt, and Villager/Wii Fit Trainer/Robin are avatars so it's pretty important to give them alts of the other gender. As for Wario, both his Warioware and Wario Land appearance are major parts of the character. It's pretty important for him to have both.

Pretty sure the Luigi thing is a mistake, and all of the Pokemon are really solid except Lucario (I'd say overall Pokemon has the best alts really).
And the Toon Link ones look great.
