We already know of stages that differ between the two versions. The Wii U version of Wily Castle has different moving platforms that are not present in the 3DS version.
We also know that Gaur Plain is much larger in the Wii U version than it is in the 3DS version.
Eh, it doesn't look much different. I can see size difference considering bigger screens.
I didn't know about different Mega Man platforms tho. Are you sure? Seems like a really weird thing to even try and make different lol.
Still think Metal Face will be in. I really don't care much, seems like it would be a cool moveset to use but didn't play much Xenoblade and waiting on 3DS version before continuing. Rather have Jenna Coleman for the design and voice (lol) but just from the looks of XB characters MF would proably be the most unique.
Yall gonna look like fools when MF is confirmed. What? Why are you looking at me like that?

The funny thing is, Mac's height (According to recent games, anyway) is 5'7", which is the same height as my gf, who is considered tall for a girl. Samus is just a giant, for a woman, at 6'3".
I will be so upset if the Mario Kart 8 DLC comes out within a week of Smash Bros. - I need my time to enjoy both!
Regarding that comic: "Even though they said are big, they are small and are called Mac."
Did anyone bother to check this sentence? Or rather, any of them?
"Do you know what I like about this hamburgers?"

I don't really think official heights have that much influence on their Smash incarnations - if we go by official material, Samus is canonically 5'5" to Mac's 5'7". It's just a matter of what works best for the silhouette.

What disgusts me about Gaur Plains is that it's not a moving platform stage like Delfino Plaza and Skyloft. This was the stage that excited me the most of its potential.
No landmarks to travel, no creatures lurking in the background, no visual stimulants like waterfalls and wind gusting against grass, etc. The sheer size, scope, and epic feeling of Gaur Plains... is reduced to a gimmicky middle drop off and a static background.

I haven't played Xenoblade but how would that even work for that sort of stage? It's not like Prism Tower/Delfino Plaza etc. where's it's a flat walk-off that transitions into travelling platforms. The way it's structured (large with weird platform placement and a giant hole in the middle) doesn't make it seem like a great idea.
They could've possibly made it a transforming stage. The Reset Bomb Forest makes sense because that's what happens in Uprising. Does Gaur Plain have much variation?

Presumably he means it would use a different stage layout. Xenoblade having a tour stage would have made a lot more sense than the current Gaur Plains stage.
They wouldn't even have to focus on Gaur Plains exclusively, I still think Eryth Sea was the best area for a Smash stage. It's a natural fit given that it actually has floating islands. Plus it looks amazing.
Even sticking with Gaur Plains, it has enough unique landmarks that a tour stage would work. The open field, the spiral rock, the waterfalls, the lake, that part with all the bridge-like things floating over the abyss.

Probably because English isn't their first language...?
Samus and Mac have each canonically had two heights. The only combo where Mac is taller is Other M vs. Punch-Out Wii. If you go by any older Metroids, or NES Punch-Out, Samus is taller. Or Smash. They kind of drive the point home in Smash. If it wasn't canon, they wouldn't have made a big deal about it.
As far as the comic grammar, the first error was clearly intentional. It's cutesy internet chibi speak.
I think the reason we're not getting anyone else at launch is that their are no sound files in the 3ds version that hint at other playable characters besides the bugged nana popo chant. The clips in the 3ds version that were found were clearly left on the chance you use the 3ds as a controller on the wiiu if I had to guess. I think if the plan all alone is to add extra characters then there would be some kind of hint in the 3ds version either sound clips or some unfinished assets, but there is nothing

Or maybe there are no sounds files in the 3DS version that hint at other characters, because they wanted the characters to be kept secrets until both versions are released.

But then why not take out the audio files for the wiiu game modes? When we found some evidence that ice climbers were in at one point and no one else I get skeptical. We'll get dlc characters I'm convinced, but probably not anything for connecting the two systems at launch, I'd be happy to be wrong though
I had the camera panned sideways when I approached that cliff, so I could actually see it climb up the cliff-face and over the edge, which was even freakier

Fair point, but in the end, Wii U game modes aren't as hype as characters. Either way, even if there are extra characters, I don't think connectivity will be necessary to unlock them.

To be honest, my experience in gamedev has taught me that general asset cleanup is rarely a well-coordinated affair with any real logic in mind. Quite often what gets left in is just stuff people forgot about during production
An example of this would be in Crackdown where originally there was a fully working ledge mechanic where you could leap sideways to grab other ledges. Handy stuff... except it somehow got missed when someone was writing the test plans and because it never got tested, nobody noticed when it broke :/ So basically, there's code in the game there somewhere for jumping from ledge to ledge sideways but it doesn't work/do anything XD Likewise I know there's code remnants for a few features that got removed in production like agent merging and stuff (there was a whole RPG system where each agent was unique and you could use DNA infusions from your other agents for a temporary boost in their respective specialisations) On the other hand you won't find anything of the Female agent that was once in as they actually remembered to take all of her stuff out when they decided they didn't have time to include her

Pretty much :3
I also severely doubt that 3DS is going to have 8 player smash, despite the announcer file saying it, considering how much it struggles with 4 players sometimes
