I like where this is going...

Let's see, we could have:

- Ridley
- Chorus Kids
- Dixie Kong
- Wonder Red (is that his name?)
- Impa/ Tingle
- Isaac
- Inklings
- Virdi
- Ray MK 2/3
- Takamaru
- 2nd Xenoblade rep.
- Someone for Advance Wars
- 5th Fire Embl...really?
- Chibi Robo
- Dillon the Armadillo
- Mallo

Anyone got anything else to add?

The Elite Beat Agents!

Does everyone know that season 2 of Amiibo is available for pre-order on Amazon?

Now have Samus, Link, DK, Little Mac, and Captain Falcon pre-ordered.

My money...

Ganon is the more important villain, even if Ganondorf transforms into Ganon.
Then where's Ganon in Smash? Just a Final Smash for Ganondorf...

No offense, but I once again have to question the relevancy of this. It doesn't change the fact that Ganondorf doesn't really have a consistent style.

We have characters here with movesets based on one or two games. I don't see why making one actually based on Zelda would be impossible.

Zelda is my second favorite Nintendo series, but I really don't have a problem with the way it's being represented. I think the characters that are in represent the most important characters in the series, and other than Tingle, I can't think of a Zelda character that is "needed."

Ganon himself? Maybe Impa? Zelda only has 3 unique movesets in Smash and hasn't gotten any new original movesets since Melee. That's way too low considering the growth of representation of every other relevant series in Smash since then.

Just wanted to say that Mewtwo's character model is so damn good this time around.

So when we heard 1080p for Smash about year ago, I definitely didn't think it would happen, especially at 60fps.

Kind of OT, but now I wonder if Zelda can be 1080p since it will most likely be 30fps.
Not that any of this matters much if it looks good. But dat sharpness.

People keep adding virdi to their wish lists... Why? You never fight her. There's not a lot you can pull from a moveset either..

Reflects how Mewtwos gotten bulkier in the more recent games.

Was going to say, it looks like he has put on some weight.

Not if it looks anything like that teaser.

um exCUSE ME but it OBVIOUSLY needs to be the other way around

the agents can use the ouendan's hot-blooded moves in ouendan 2, but the ouendan have never used the elite beat agents's slick western stylings

SHEESH
Well yeah I know that. I actually prefer Ouendan but I'd bet it would be like ROB where the default differs per region.

I've moved on.
But I can never forget.

I know I tell people to temper expectations, but Snake was name-dropped during the Direct, and Kojima noted that nobody contacted anyone over Snake to his knowledge. I can totally see him being DLC relatively early on.

Basically, I can see all of the Brawl cuts but Squirtle and Ivysaur having an argument behind them, as well as Dixie, Ridley, Impa, and the Chorus Kids. I don't know how much DLC we'll have, so it'll probably just be that lot, but I'd love to see Bayonetta, Wonder Red, Sami, Mach Rider, Daisy, (Captain?) Toad, Mona, K. Rool, Bomberman, and Jody Summers, too. I can see the Inklings, Rayman, Sigurd, and Bandana Dee happening, and I wouldn't complain there, either; Robin was literally the only character I didn't want in, and it's too late now (Plus, he is pretty fun to use...). I'd push for Waluigi, Takamaru, and Samurai Goroh, but I don't know if we're getting characters who got Assist Trophy-blocked.

Next time, Sweet Princes...
Next time...

... After Ridley gets his dues, at least.

You should still not take it so seriously. I'd wager the majority of the people on SmashGAF are just making legitimate criticism about the stages. Like I'd criticize Magicant from a competitive standpoint all day, but from an Earthbound fan's perspective it's one of my favorite stages in the Smash series. As someone who enjoys the competition in Smash as well it's disappointing we can't get some tamer gimmicks on some beautiful stages like Gaur Plains, and Omega mode is a poor band-aid on the problem.
If I criticize something it's coming from my huge passion of the series.

I do agree the majority of the Smash community needs to improve how they communicate any criticism and complaints but when you direct it here on GAF when the majority are fairly reasonable... it comes off as overly aggressive. It was like when you went off about Melee fans in the 3DS OT and everyone was like "wat". It's like... I get where you're coming from but it's being directed at the wrong audience.

I can personally identify with Ash's complaints in that people get weird with Smash negativity, but it's (mostly) fair criticism here so I let it slide. Granted, vitriol over things like walk-offs confuses me but aside from troll comments I don't bother commenting on it since I'm a college student juggling a game journalist internship and I have better things to do than argue on GAF, lol.

Just wanted to say that Mewtwo's character model is so damn good this time around.

I personally prefer the head of the Melee model, but he still looks amazing.

I still think mewtwo is the only character DLC we're going to get. This based on nothing but the 2013 roundtable and someone asking if mewtwo was going to be in smash and (from the audience) sakurai responds 'we're thinking about it!'

He had to have known the roster by then, so I like to imagine that he was like 'oh crap people want mewtwo, gotta make him dlc'

I know I make no sense, but i'm not getting my hopes up for more dlc.

here is my wishlist regarding Mewtwo in smash 4:

immediately remove confusion/disable, keep shadow ball/teleport, do whatever you want with the rest so long as he's viable

eeeeeyup.

If we didn't have what we were getting MK8, Hyrule Warrirors DLC, and the job listing for Smash 6 I could agree. But with all of that on it I just can't.
Though it's good to think less. Won't be as much disappointment that way if it's true.

But I gotta say if we only got mewtwo and no one else as DLC that would be pretty lame.
I'm not even talking snake has to come back. But only 1 DLC character is all kinds of meh.

Considering the balance this time around, I don't foresee Mewtwo being shit-tier again. Really hope he's great, as Psychic types have always been one of my favorites.

Can live without playable Viridi, but really, by now why would anyone doubt Sakurai's ability to create a moveset for anything under the sun?

Project M really made me fall in love with the idea of a moderately buffed confusion though. Beyond that, I guess I could agree with a Shadow Ball change to Psystrike and Psycho Cut somewhere.

Also, I'm 100% behind more Kid Icarus faces. Uprising really brought some fun personalities and the game system itself allows for various interpretations of character movesets. Personally I'm more of a Medusa guy just because she got shafted in Uprising proper, but Viridi would be cool if only to play up the "Angel and Commanding Goddess" duo of Pit/Palu and Dark Pit/Viridi (Dark Pit uses Viridi's power of flight in Smash 4, really subtle touch).

Disable and confusion are cool moves in concept imo, and are both things I'd like Mewtwo to be able to do. They just need to be balanced a lot better.

But that's his rightful home

But in all seriousness.
Thought it was all kinds of funny when me and my friends decided to play mewtwo in Project M. I was telling them "I think he's high tier everyone loves him" they told me he was pretty bad in melee though. I never played melee so I just ignored them. He might be better in PM but oh man was I sure not feeling it when I played him.

You jokers wanting veteran DLC. Snake was my main and I'd take any newcomer over him.

Roy over Chorus Kids, for shame. :U

I just find Confusion and Disable boring moves, no matter how amazing P:M might have made them.

He used to be the strongest Pokémon ever; they pick moves representing that, like...like, Amnesia or something. Sakurai could make it work.

I actually like the A-moves in his Melee moveset a lot, but I wouldn't mind some changes if it makes him better.

Viridi is a Goddess on par with Palutena, and Uprising does enough to establish it. Powers (what Palutena's moveset is already based on) in KIU are fluffed as Palutena's intervention, and Viridi can use Powers as well. She's got a legion of angry trees, rocks, and vegetables under her command (that she's directly stated to be creating herself), and total dominion over nature in general. Her final smash being the Reset Bomb speaks for itself. I don't think they'll be scratching their heads over moves to give her.

Even if none of this were the case, it's not like Zelda or Sheik's representation had much in common with what they actually did or showed off in their games. OoT Zelda wasn't exactly blasting Ganon with Din's Fire. And pretty much everything about Sheik's moveset is straight up made up. :lol

Viridi should be in, 'cause Viridi rocks.

I don't really care for Sheik, but I'd rather not have someone who's been with us since the original Smash, and Melee, being replaced by someone else.

We would have another "Lucario & Mewtwo" situation on our hands.
Sheik was new in Melee, not the original.
Impa has been in more mainline games (8) than Ganondorf (3) and almost as many as Ganon (10). She was there from the very beginning. She's the only real logical choice. I mean Toon Zelda shows up at the end of one game and is featured in another. Toon Link makes sense as he also represents Young Link who is featured in most games.
Yes, but only two of those appearances are actually good for Smash. Unless Impa was an old lady, which I would be on board with. We need some more elders!

If Skyward Sword didn't have Impa in it, would anybody care about her as a character in Smash?
Personally, I am struggling in how making Tingle unique would work. In his game appearances, he can draw maps, has Balloon Fight balloons, can drop bombs, cook, dig, and hire bodyguards to fight for him. Granted, I'm sure that if you implemented him as a puppet master ala Rosalina, he could be interesting, or if he had some sort of Rupee-collecting mechanic. And that would make him incredibly complex. Plus, just from a basic moveset standpoint, I'm heavily struggling thinking of something for him. He'd have to get a Villager-like treatment, where he fights accidentally, because even in the one game he does fight in (Rosy Rupeeland), he's so pathetically weak that he gets completely bodied even by the very first enemies. And you don't see him actually fight, it's a cute little dust cloud like Prince Sablé's AT has, so there's nothing to draw moves from. But that would pretty much deter from Villager's fighting style being unique, either.
I think a Rupee-based moveset could be excellent. I imagine him as just being a super weird fighter.
Considering how many characters are mostly/completely bullshit yet still awesome (Duck Hunt for one), I think Tingle would make a great addition.
The whole "mix of Zelda and Sheik" idea is exactly why I don't like her as a potential Smash fighter. We already have two semi-clones for the Zelda series, getting a third (half the reps) would be unfair.

These are my picks. Anyone here would be perfect for me.
Nice picks!
Speaking of DLC,

I wonder when we are getting Mario Kart 8 DLC. I really hope that it would be early Nov so Smash Bros U wouldn't overshadow the game for me.

I will skip everything just for Smash Bros U. :)
I worry that they'll come out at the same time. No way I can handle both at once - Mario Kart 8 would have to get bumped back.

There are quite a few potential new reps, just pulling from significant franchises:

- Toad / Captain Toad
- Inkling (Splatoon)
- Shy Guy, Birdo, or Wart
- Dixie Kong
- K. Rool
- Medusa
- Isaac / Felix (alts)
- The latest face of Fire Emblem (replace Lucina, who could now be a Marth alt)
- Popular Gen VII Pokemon
- Some Nopon character (Xenoblade)
- Some other standout popular character from one of their upcoming games this gen
- Monster Hunter
- Other retro third-party reps (Moogle and/or Black Mage, Slime, Tetris Block - sky's the limit)

We just need a Tetris stage.
Or a Dr. Mario stage.
Or a Crashmo stage.
Or pretty much any puzzle game stage. I'm a bit bummed we haven't seen any.

I don't get this at all. So Nintendo successfully reinvigorates fan interest/support in a long standing character (with a now re-emphasized position in the franchise's lore) with a memorable role or appearance and they shouldn't be considered because Nintendo only did it recently?

On another note, before the transformation mechanic got axed, I thought it'd be rad as all hell if Impa would age and de-age herself for her defining gimmick based on her appearances in Skyward Sword (and general appearances throughout the series as either an elder caretaker for Zelda or the youthful captain of Hyrule's combat forces-slash-Zelda's confidant) with young Impa being Hyrule Warriors style agility + BIGGORON SWORD and Shiek's grenades and Old Impa being a glass cannon caster/time magician. In a post transformation mechanic and Hyrule Warriors world though, the sky is the limit.

The real answer is panel de pon, with possible tetris attack/pokemon puzzle league variants.

You could say the same for bowser Jr in his clown car. His original appearance didn't have him in one, it's only recently that he got in one.

I'm not sure a game with Impa, Paper Mario, Dark Samus, Ridley, Dixie and a new Pokemon can really sell a game as well as adding Bowser, Peach, Zelda and Ganondorf, or Dedede, Metaknight, Diddy, Sonic and Charizard, or Little Mac, Mii, Villager, Megaman and Pacman.

Ridley would really be the only true long time wanted addition, but he sems like a strange character to headling with.

It just shows how much our concept of the roster additions for new games will need to change for 5
