But I've hopes for Zack Levi as Shazam since he was teased with the Peacekeeper guys (and that was one of the least snyder-influenced parts), assuming Gunn can deal with the actors personal views. The Rock seems determined to be as difficult to work with as possible so while I liked him in Black Adam, I think that is over as well. Rumors about Blue Beetle guy coming back, again not very snyder centric but so long as they lose the sister, that was aight.
-from what I heard, Levi burned a lot of bridges and it had far more to it than just his political views. Maybe he'll get a cooler head and bury some hatchets, but we'll see.
-Johnson was fine as Black Adam, but refusing to be the villain for Shazam 2 despite being well aware that's what the character he's playing is best known for, and adding a ridiculous 50 million increase in that Christmas action movie by constantly showing up very late on set thus delaying production by a ton, he needs to be humbled a bit. Not saying he shouldn't have a career, but he should do some smaller roles and only get back to bigger films once he learns to be a team player
-there is plans for a Blue Beetle animated series, with the DCEU actor voicing Jaime. Since the previous film won't be canon, that version of the sister will hopefully be dropped (and the uncle, I didn't like either).
Jaime's sister in the comics is actually much younger, only a child, and has a much simpler yet effective arc. When Jaime first appears, having been lost in space for a year after he first gets the Scarab, she sees him transform and is horrified, and for a while in Jaime's series she would keep her distance from him as it was too much for someone her age. But later, when Jaime fully gets his memories of what happened to himself in space, he falls to the ground in panic with the sudden rush of remembering the traumatic event, he's screaming and crying, and his sister doesn't hesitate to rush over and give him a comforting hug.
The movie also cut out Paco and Brenda, Jaime's two best friends, which annoyed me they weren't included. So yeah, a full animated series will hopefully more closely follow the 2000's run which introduced Jaime, it's a smaller fandom but most who check it out quite enjoy it, especially as after a few into issues, a lot of issues are "self-contained" but give just little advancements to the plans of The Reach (an alien force intending to covertly take over Earth, by initially presenting themselves as peaceful ambassadors) as well as Jaime learning his powers, more strategies, etc. and all of it pays off wonderfully in issues #22-25, the Endgame arc, where all the plot threads, character growth, allies gained, etc. end up paying off.
Jaime's had some great adaptation in other DC animated shows as well, Batman: Brave and the Bold, and Young Justice, both of which did their own takes on The Reach invasion.
