Swery's The Good Life, [UP] FIG campaign fails, will be back on Kickstarter

Not a fan of the art style, really. It looks very bland.... even if I like Swery's work, I'm not going to invest a game I don't visually like.

probably still won't be enough, but this means PS4 version for $34

Indivisble had a pretty passionate twitter campaign to try and get it funded. This game needs a similar movement imo

It's my dream to see some kind of big Twitter campaign promoting this game.

Also if someone could go convince 4Chan to back this game, that would be legendary.

Indivisible also cheated by having their end dated repeatedly pushed back so IndieGoGo could get a 7-figure funded game under their belt. Not saying there's anything wrong with that, but I doubt Fig is going to break their rules about funding so that something stalled at rounding_error% can get over the top.

Same reason why I'm not backing it despite being a fan. Also a fan of Futatsugi's (Panzer Dragoon creator, Phantom Dust creator) work as well. Just looks bland to me.

The Indivisible campaign was very interesting. I think they showed it’s possible to br all the moms slightly of you really work hard. Pushing back the date was clearly the right decision for them and they made it work but working really hard.

Can the same thing be done here? I think it’s possible but unlikely, they would need to change their tactics and really push as hard ad they can.

It’s a shame it hasn’t gone better but I’m a little disappointed they don’t seem to have made proper plans. They asked for a really large amount of money and just don’t seem to have the required strategy to do it

It's gonna fail, as a Fig game does.

:(
Elaborate.

FIG has had these big campaigns:
Phoenix Point $750K
Pillars of Eternity $4400K
Wasteland 3 $3100K
Psychonauts 2 $3800K
Consortium $350K

19/24 campaigns have succeeded.

There are currently 3 active campaigns, including this. This one will fail. One has already reached its funding, and one may or may not reach its funding goal.

Really sad that this is going to fail so hard when so many creatively bankrupt crowdfunded games that are clearly going to be a shit show from day one break 7 figures with ease.

Crowd funding is worse than the traditional model of getting the right games made at this point.

Yeah FIG has mostly been very successful. I want to seem them push though, I truly think it’s possible to raise big funds with the right strategy but I also feel they don’t really have a plan to make it work

Fig has been successful because they're careful about picking games that are able to sell themselves. but I don't think they're able to help pitches along once they start to flounder or stall, like this one. Maybe they're doing behind-the-scenes shit to bring in bonafide investors but it doesn't seem that way from the outside.

What the hell is with the latest backer update?
Microtransactions TBD? The hell?

Also on a similar note, all the updates are just plain shit. They've basically been gif collections and little else

So will this go down as the most unsuccessful gaming campaign on fig to date? I guess if it doesn't hit 21% by the end date.

It feels really weird and like... not aware of how to handle updates, particularly when they should be in panic mode, at all.

Did Fig even try to help them with this...?

Well, it made to 17%.

It took 10 days to move from 16 to 17%. So, at that rate, it will be 100% funded in Dec. 2019.

I didn't know this was a thing until today.

For fuck's sake it looks amazing!!

But it doesn't look like it will reach it's goal. But I can see why; I've never contributed money via fig but it's hugely more complicated and involved than pledging money for something like Kickstarter. And with a minimum of a $100 must scare off a lot of people. I see the benefits, it treats it more as an investment with a system of actual return of profit for backers? That's really cool, but the wall of entry is much higher...

Even still, I hope it can make it's goal, even with outside investors.

You're looking at the investment side of things. There's still normal KS/IGG-style pledges too.

I've heard this exact sentiment several times now, and I can't really blame people. Right under the trailer of The Good Life it talks about the $100 minimum investment, which is going to stick out. FIG really needs to sort this miscommunication out, because it genuinely seems to be harming the projects on its platform.

This struggling is probably the least shocking thing I've seen in crowdfunding in a while. Amount they needed was way too high for what is a niche creator. I don't think it ever really stood a chance.

Thanks for the heads up - didn't realize people were misunderstanding this as I've not seen much confusion. But yes, the $100 min if for investing, anyone can back the game starting at $10.

I'm the CM for Fig, btw :)

I really love the pitch for this game! I really hope it can get made. Slice of life + photography + murder mystery + cats is a great combination that appeals to me a lot. I just backed it, I hope it can somehow get some more momentum.

Thanks so much!

I don't know man. That artstyle is very different from Deadly Premonition.

Im a big fan of Swery...he needs the bump that Yoko Taro got with Neir.

I mean, I don't think anyone really loved Deadly Premonition for it's artstyle.

But, I also think this game looks very visually appealing .

I like the premise of this game, but the trailer was pretty bad, and I really dislike the artstyle. I enjoy stylized art for the most part, but this is ugly.

Same.

It sure makes the whole campaign feel less focused to me and more ...dare I say mismanaged? That might be too harsh of a word, but at least a bit sloppy... to tack on a second
clearly inferior
version this close to the end of the campaign.
