Swery's The Good Life, [UP] FIG campaign fails, will be back on Kickstarter

I'd be incredibly surprised if this reaches it's goal. I guess just hope there are a few backers that are cavalier with their spending habits.

B-List Japanese developer + 1.5 Mil = no way in fucking hell.

I would love for it to happen, but what do these developers think they can getaway with? Rap Rabbit should be the sign that even with a strong name, you can't ask for this much.

This keeps sounding like a dream game of mine, totally my most anticipated, so I hope the Fig campaign turns out well.

I love everything about the concept, but that art style...it does not transition to 3D very well.

1.5m goal is also pretty steep for a project like this, I don't see it happening unless some big investor steps in.

That was a great trailer. Love the 2d artwork and the 3d style should look really good once they polish it a bit from this prototype state. One weird thing was the French accordion soundtrack to a rural English setting :p

It also looks bonkers. Solving a crime while doing part time jobs and customizing your character with outfits? Such a misch masch can only be a massive success or a spectacular failure and I love it.

Edit: One of the pledge extras is getting to have dinner with Swery... in the game. That's damn funny.

E2: Shouldn't the thread title mention the campaign?

Same. The concept sounds great and the 2D art caught my eye but I'm totally out if that's the 3D style they are going for.

This looks like the game my SO would make if given the chance: mystery, cats and Animal Crossing! :D Looking really great and I hope it gets made one way or another.

I think it looks and sounds great but I think the goal is too high. I'll hold off putting money into it for now.

I mean, you don't really lose anything if it doesn't get funded. If everybody ends up thinking "oh, I'll only back if it gets close to/surpasses the goal" it will never get funded.

I am not feeling the graphics or rather the models, too.
Non the less I will back it, I like what I read of the gameplay.

Stretch goals should be for getting prominent British voice acting :V

have to wonder if someone actually seriously backed at this level...

I mean, I guess someone like Notch would have that kind of cash to throw around.

SWERY is the master of games jam packed with features that would normally be cut, and are all the better for it.

I fucking love SWERY. This game sounds beautifully odd and unique. I hope he finds a way to reach his backing goal.

I think it looks good and doesn't seem to have unnecessary combat like Deadly Premonitions. I hope that it makes its goal but it's not gonna be easy.

Not a fan of the art style, at all. Or the look of the story either. A shame, I was looking forward to seeing what SWERY would come up with next.

Still kinda wish they had just a straight up physical collectors edition, with the game in a box.

Also, new thread title. Hopefully more people see that his Fig campaign is up and running now.

I understand why they didn't. More physical goods are really expensive, especially with the uncertainty in what shipping prices will be in 2 years time.

I'm surprised no one in this thread has mentioned that Rainy Woods was the original name for Deadly Premonition.
