This is why pre-launch reviews do matter.
Lol the salt in the replies
Does this mean we will get
Trails of versparia
Trails of Arise etc

I don't think the argument is that Nintendo was lazy. Just cheap. Which is true.I'm really tired of this "argument".
No company do that realistically, they do tests and then make a choice balancing out cost + convenience + quality.
Nintendo is not different, that you and many other haters do the bare minimum in your jobs doesn't make devs "lazy", they'd be fired if that was the case.
I really think HDR 120Hz with VRR played a big role in this and they opted for a weird choice at the end to keep the costs lowYes, nearly ten years ago. It's supposed to be superior to its forefathers. The question is what went wrong this time with the Switch 2 display.![]()
Going to test sonic classic later on.
Will let you guys know if it's that fucking shit…
Yeah, would be very interesting to see more recent/newer data on this though. Maybe it shifted over time (?).Wow, that's insane. Less than 20% of Switch users played primarily docked? Just found a source online, that's freakin' wild. I thought I was part of the norm, hahaha. Guess not.

I'm not referring to the information but to the way you are dismissing this flaw by saying "overall is not that bad"Posting a summary of findings is double standards? I'd do the same if it were Sony or Microsoft my man.

Roughly 50% worse if the numbers are to be believed.Well, switch 1 already felt like it was passing 1 second from the input to the actual response, is this better or worst than the first one?
Based on those latest tests, the pixel response...it kinda is.DF person saying the switch2 is a psp equivalent.
I had an OG PSP, and I can say quite confidently that the Switch 2 screen is much, much better than the PSP's.Based on those latest tests, the pixel response...it kinda is.
Og. psp was averaging in that 35ms range(with 3k/go improving over it by a factor of 3x).
Tried sonic origins and sonic 2 a childhood game i played for hundered of hours because i had nothing else back in the day on my console.Narrator: And he did in fact find out it was that fucking shit.

Such hyperbola shit this is.
Also tried metroid dread
Nothing to worry about
You nerds need to chill the fuck down
To be fair many aren't getting it or it's not as extreme.

I think that different variants could be in the wild.
They have 3 different sku's in NA alone.(That I'm aware of)
MKW bundle with sticker on box, MKW bundle with logo design on the box and regular sku.
China and Vietnam have manufacturing plants I think.
16ms is what DF deducted which is 3x slower than steam deck and OG SwitchThere is a japanese review flying around claiming 16ms response times... The longer this goes on, the more I think this is some nasty display lottery, perhaps the worst in a consumer product in ages.
Let me go check.Yeah but you can bang on it with a wrench and it doesn't break. Can Steam Deck say the same?
There is another now, unfortunately the link where I saw it is now deleted.16ms is what DF deducted which is 3x slower than steam deck and OG Switch

Watch the black windows in this video as the screen moves left and right. It did that everywhere with dark colors-- playing Ridge Racer made me want to vomit.
I'm not contesting that.. but when you say "overall is not that bad" after posting the confirmation that the response time of the display is an abysmal 17.06 ms sounds a bit weird..How am I dismissing the flaw when I'm the one who created this thread which highlights the flaw? Factually, the analysis points out that there are some good things. The summary I posted shows this. If you want to ignore the good and only look at the bad then that is up to you.

Lmaoooooooo!!!
Summary of findings....

Legit some of you acting this is like a gamegear screen or some shit
240fps slowmotion footage showing smear
Come on
Let me get my 500% zoom and point out flaws
The good points are hilarious, packing HD in 7.9 Display? Really?
The ONLY Switch 2 that support VRR? LOL
Support firmware update?
Sufficient ergonomic features? WTF does that even mean
Built in speaker?
And the best one, can be charged by USB-C lol
Scrapping the barrel to balance the good points with the bad ahhhahahahaaa
The Steam Deck's screen doesn't support full HD or VRR. So those would seem to be relevant advantages. The good points are hilarious, packing HD in 7.9 Display? Really?

The amount of people in this thread who only plays the S2 in docked mode is amazing. Makes me think that Nintendo could launch a screenless switch that operates solely in docked mode. Not sure if that idea would catch on.
Right but the ghosting issue is so minor. A patch is needed for these games to look as good (or potentially better) than they do on the Switch Oled. For example a game like Pikmin 4 or Metroid Prime Remastered looks better on the weaker Oled Switch because a) the colors/contrast and b) its not being stretched as much to fit the native 720p screen compared to Switch 2's 1080p screen.Patching a game doesn't address the poor response time/ghosting though right? That's a hardware situation.
While I think some of the complaints are a little overexaggerated ......what a god damn shame Nintendo couldn't have just given people a better display. For fucks sake so many people would've happily paid another $100 for Oled which would've solved EVERY single issue found in the Switch 2's screen- HDR? would've popped on Oled even at a low peak brightness. Battery life? Check. Ghosting? Better believe it. Color accuracy and contrast? YupA lot of people will see it, some may not know any better or are in love with the games and game updates (fair), but with a rather significant price bump and a nearly useless tentpole feature (HDR in portable mode… 400 nits peak and no dimming zones) it is what it is, not sure why for Nintendo the standard needs to be that much lower…
In not a single spec / actual result the screen should be worse than the 8 years old OG Switch 1.
Yeah, I'm going to call bullshit on that last one.You missed some....
And also....
- High density and the dots are not noticeable
- Supports up to 120 Hz
- The only Switch 2 that supports "VRR"
(VRR cannot be used in docked mode)- High panel uniformity
- Wide color gamut (DCI-P3: 99%)
- Completely flicker-free (DC dimming)
"Overall, the Switch 2's built-in display has image quality comparable to a high-end gaming monitor ."
The problem was with the Youtubers who went to the preview events. They are undiscerning shills for the most part. The same people Nintendo wants going to their events and making videos and defending the screen issues right now. That's true and the only place i see people complaining about the price is this forum.
I do realise the people and parents i speak to is also anecdotal but nobody talks about the price.
What i was talking about is that nobody had issues at the events and they were even complimented about the display while not being an oled still having great visuals.
Now the hardware is out and people can benchmark it seeing lower numbers than expected suddenly it's a problem.
I don't agree with that way of thinking, i also said i don't see/experience the issues people are having, call me an apologist but why should i pick up the pitchfork if i don't have any issues?
Yeah, I'm going to call bullshit on that last one.
