Switch 2 Pre-Orders. Did you get one?

Have you guys see the CDN prices for SWITCH 2 version of Kirby forgotten land and Tears of the kingdom ? Even Higher than Mario kart World....shocker.
Does seem such a bad idea to be state 51 now does it.

What do you guys think about preordering 2? You buy one to use and one to keep sealed until the system gets hacked?

It is fairly risk free, as if you do not sell it you can return it to the store you purchased it from.

This analysis leads me to think they will outsell the WiiU easily in year one.

Yeah, Mario Party Jamboree too, that shit is wild and kind of throws a wrench in the "we will price games accordingly based on the value we think they bring" line. Like I guess they're just going straight on with "it's an $80 game plus a $35 upgrade pack, so it's $115" line of thinking, but still, doesn't seem right. You'd be much better off to buy a Switch 1 copy second hand, of which there are many, and then buy the upgrade pack.

At least Mario Party I own so can just buy the upgrade, and TOTK I also own and will have a free upgrade from NSO. I'd love to check out the new content in Kirby, but yeah, not even close at $115...

lol 😆 keep your money and invest it. If there is one it could be hardware based not just software or it may be in the current firmware.

-If it's hardware on first run, you're good. Just buy a later revision as your main.

-Still possible for software in current firmware, your good. Just buy a later revision as your main.

-If it's just on launched v 1.0 firmware. You can use your rainy day fund and buy one.

Basically by buying two your hedging your bets that only fw v1 will work. That may not be worth it.t

Over my dead body.

Just Mario Kart the bundle for now ( assuming I don't even cancel the preorder. To be honest, the only reason I feel like buying one is to keep it on low firmware for hacking purposes in the future. )

But I am not paying any stupid prices for old games. Whatever it's a cyberpunk or Zelda game from 2 years ( who the fk will spend that much on Zelda ? I can just buy the old one when it's on sale and get the upgrade for free with the Nintendo online thingy if i understand correctly ).

even more logical solution would be to by the old one used from the marketplace and just buy the upgrade for much cheaper alternative.

The rumor from February is that Nintendo aims to have 20m units available in year one. They lost some sales potential a few times due to shortages during the early Switch years and again during Covid and I think they want to make certain that retail inventory can cover most demand. If that's true, it probably will pass Wii U in less than a year.

Had one in the cart at Target, and just noped out after the first issue, I was more in it for the rush I guess, because I don't think year one I see anything I need to play asap on the system. More Money for games for current systems I guess!
Same unless Metroid releases this year then I'd be all over it I enjoy Mario Kart but don't have any friends that play games very much anymore online and offline. I might bite if I can get a decent price for my Switch OLED and Switch Lite selling on FB Marketplace out of a coffee shop or something.

No. Probably will get one a few years from now. I still have so many Ps5 backlogs and so many Ps5 games coming out right now, so I save my funds for those upcoming games.

Glad to see so many GAFers were able to get one. Despite being a shitshow online, in-store was mostly hassle free.

Congrats to the fellow future owners of the true Next-generation Handheld hybrid.

This is the first console I have not preordered since I can remember. With nobody else in my family wanting one the sense of urgency is not there.

Guys I totally forgot to tell you a story...

So I'm in line to pre-order the Switch 2 today at GameStop and the guy behind me is talking about how he's doing it for how his nieces and nephews and his sister is sick and a whole bunch of stuff.

Dude in front of me buys his switch, and then buys $500 in gift cards, turns around and hands it to the guy behind me and says here you go enjoy.

Who said we aren't a generous bunch?

I was able to get one from Target last night. First three attempts instantly sent a cancellation email. Tried it with the app and it looks like it went through. Hopefully I actually end up getting one!

I say six months.

Watched the chaos online via reddit all night and decided to get up at 5:30am ET and head to my local Gamestop. Only one person ahead of me (he was there at 3am because his attempts fell through, so he called out of work and went straight to the store). One other person joined us just before 7, another at &;30-ish. We were the only ones until 9:30 when a couple more people showed up. Most people really didn't start pouring in to join the queue until 10:30ish (store opened at 11am). Store was allotted 12 standalone systems and 26 bundles.

Got in, traded 2 Switch Lites for MKW Bundle, Pro Controller, Camera, Rune Factory, Bravely Default and the Kimberly Amiibo. Wanted joycons but the system wasn't allowing preorders for those. Still walked away with 124 in left over credit, so I'll start paying off more of it in the next week. Just want to wipe one of my OLEDs before trading it in for the credit boost.

I wasn't planning on pre-ordering the Switch 2. I fell asleep around 10PM last night, woke up at 12:30AM. My buddy tells me Walmart has pre-orders still open so I went to the Walmart website to look and sure enough he was right. Grabbed the MK World bundle console. No waiting on the website, literally just a couple of clicks and ordered. I had PayPal set as the payment method, they already took the money out. Thought they wouldn't do that till when the system actually releases, but it's whatever. At least I don't have to think about trying to grab one anymore. Looking forward to release date.

Got one right as it went live on Target at 12:01 am. Went back in and snagged a physical copy of Mario Kart right after. Saw some reports of cancellations going out and was fully expecting one in my email this morning but both preorders still holding strong. I was tempted to head out to Gamestop to preorder for in store pick up and cancel the Target one but I can wait a day or two for shipping. Wouldn't even consider Walmart because for some reason they use Lasership/OnTrac in my area and if it's an expensive item, it's 100% getting stolen by LS/OT.
Dude, I feel for you. Lasership is the WORST.

My general experience is that when you pay with PayPal funds go out immediately regardless of store. If you don't do PayPal, many stores charge when shipped.

I think I actually managed to get one from Best Buy after waiting in their virtual line for like 20 minute last night. I was able to check out and got confirmation, but I know these kind of things can turn into total shit shows with cancellations, so it's hard to be sure until it's in my hands.

Then you woke up from the beautiful dream and headed to work.

I swear I posted in here last night, but yes I was able to get it. But fuck me was it an ordeal and a half to get. The app didn't crash like the website but it sure as hell wasn't acting right. At midnight it immediately said all pre-orders were sold out. Then when it stopped saying that and allowed me to put on in my cart, it adds the warranty even though I didn't want it and took me 5 minute of trying while receiving errors to remove the warranty. Then I get to the check out and it kept adding the wrong address and removing my Target circle card. Then out of nowhere it brings up my address and the card is in there. Then when I click checkout, error after error after error. One even out right told me to keep trying like the app didn't want me to quit (not try again later, but actually used the phrase keep trying to checkout). Then it starts asking for the cards CVC number over and over. I enter it, and the CVC screen pops back up. Did that like eight times before I got an error. Then after like 30 minutes of trying, it ask for the card's full number then the order finally goes through

I was at my local GameStop waiting till 11am until they open. I arrived there at 7am and there was 1 guy waiting outside by GameStop door. By 9:30am people started coming I was the 8th person in line for the switch 2 preorder. By 11am the line grew more than 30+ people. My GameStop had about 85 Nintendo Switch 2 (30 regular switch 2 and 55 Mario Kart bundle). I did preorder my switch 2(the Mario Kart bundle) with some accessories (the pro controller) and 1 game preorder, Donkey Kong.

I was totally thinking in getting it. Im aware that distributors usually inflate the prices here, but this one takes the cake: if I transform the price that Nintendo confirmed here, it goes 670 bucks the basic Switch 2 and more than 85 dollars the "cheap" (aka, not Mario Kart) games.

I will totally skip this. I like the Switch, and was really looking forward its successor, but Nintendo totally lost its mind. You guys are lucky that they at least respect you. I really dont understand these prices.

Yup, one online and one in store at Gamestop.

Console launches are awesome. Now that I'm a working adult, i never want to miss out on these events (for Nintendo and PlayStation).

Super excited to open a brand new console in June. Congrats to everyone else who feels the same :)

Tried to preorder at work. That was a shit show. On a whim after work I came home and asked my son if he wanted to try GameStop. We went to our normal store, but they were sold out. The dude working told us another store a few miles away may have some. We decided to give it a shot. We grabbed the last 2.

It seems this time around you have much easier time getting from your local store than trying to order it online.

Lucky for me my house is close to local EBgames.

Target online here in the US was the worst but I had very good luck with Walmart and Best Buy. This talk of ontrac has me worried though.

Hey, at least you don't have Yodel, who I swear actually Yodal as they toss it over a fence into a garage roof - if you're lucky.

More than likely they do deliver it to the right address... into a bin.

Went to my local GameStop at 7:30am this morning and waited out with a small group until they opened. I was third in line and by the time the first five of us were checking out the line had hit about 50-60 people and wrapped around the building. They had 35 Mario Kart bundles and 15 base Switch 2s.

Walmart put me in a line and then kicked me out four or five times. Through Target I got one in my cart but every time I tried to pay it errores out. Disappeared from the cart after about a half hour.

Feeling pretty dejected, fingers crossed Nintendo comes through for me with the My Nintendo lottery

I got one from Target, Walmart, and GameStop.

We have 4 Switches in the house and will eventually have just as many switch 2, but I'll almost certainly cancel Target. Goal was to take my kids to their first midnight launch and have the Walmart early morning delivery as backup if the GameStop preorder fell through.
Will surprise the kids with a no school day on launch day so we can all play.

Yep, although GameStop buffoonery made it more of an ordeal than it needed to be. Got in line with 15 people in front of me, which ended up taking far longer than it should have because, despite having two checkout counters and two people working the store, they elected to instead have just one checkout line running while the other guy stood outside to watch the line. It got even sillier when a third employee showed up and offered to clock in early when she saw the people waiting outside, only to be told "Nah we're good." 🤦‍♂️

So it took about an hour to get to the front of the line, but got my MKW bundle locked in.

My kid's last day of school is May 23rd in Texas.
