Well Corky and I are having a blast in Co-op and I'm hoping kami_sama is too, even though it seem mostly picking my sorry ass up off the floor lol, it's surprising how quickly you get attuned to the other players in the co-op without voice you know where they'll be and what they'll be doing.

I'm also liking a lot! And I also need rebooting a lot, it's not only you lol

To the ones that have read the RPS review, it's overly pessimistic. I played the campaign and a lot of co-op and I have to say that it's a lot better than it is shown there.

Gonna be playing drunk Syndicate coop tonight on XBL. My friend and I will need a couple teammates to tackle some of the missions on hard. If you're interested, look me up on XBL, just put neogaf in the message so I know who you are. My gamertag is Horsebite.

Hail, peons, for I have come as ambassador from the great and bountiful Blueberry Butt Explosion
:(

Unfortunate. I'll probably just wait for the price to plummet on this thing. $60 + Origin = A sour taste in my mouth.

If it makes you feel any better, the game doesn't actually USE Origin at all LOL

Created GAFindustries on LIVE I've sent FR to those on the list that aren't on my friends list as to get people into the Syndicate you need to of played a game with them or be friends.

I'll get everyone into the Syndicate asap upon reply.

The Steam comparison was helpful, thanks!

From the RPS review:

Thanks. HR without so much talking sounds right on for me :)

Games really need to get past the point of the interaction with other NPC's in games being a static screen with "pick all the text options in order to hear all the things they have to say and then move on" because it's SO BORING to do that. There has got to be a better and more interesting way to do interactions.

No one seems to talk about how great the guns sound in this game. In my opinion they rival the gun sounds in Bad Company 2 and BF3. So satisfying!

They're fantastic. The gunplay, gun animations, and sound all come together to make some of the most satisfying shooting this gen. When an FPS gets shooting this right, I can forgive a lot of other flaws. The aiming feels really good too.

I also don't really get the complaints about the boss fights. I thought they were really, really easy as long as you stayed mobile and used the DART overlay when they were vulnerable for the damage boost it provides. I actually had fun with them, particularly the one in Milestone 12, which is more than most FPS can say about it's bosses.

The boss fights were great and kept you moving. A bullet ballet. :)

To be honest, I can't think of many recent FPSes that have bosses, so it was refreshing. Felt strangely old-school in a good way to have bosses and mini-bosses appear.

I agree, except that I feel the aiming on pc is rather borked due to the mouse acceleration. In some way I keep thinking about Ninja gaiden black, my alltime favorite game, there are so many things wrong with the game but in the end the things I like about it totally negate its shortcomings.

Syndicate has those awful QTEs, visual blemishes, forgettable story... but in the end when everything that has to do with the core gameplay feels so good I forget about all of those.

Syndicate reminds me of a cool blend of deus ex HR, bulletstorm and Crysis 2 and as someone else said, the co-op feels like cyperpunk L4D and it's amazing.

edit : re :bosses, I thought every one was passable or enjoyable outside the last part of the final boss with I really found disgustingly annoying and simply not fun.

Excellent summation. There are quite a few games this gen that have had flaws but a couple things about them are so good that I can ignore them. This is one of those games. I also think that the games you chose to compare it to are spot on.

The final boss was an odd difficulty for me. He can kill you really fast but when everything comes together right and you learn his patterns you can take him down in a minute while barely taking damage.

I have done some thinking about it and I think one of the reason I had such a hard time with it was that I really didn't spend any chip upgrades on healthbased upgrades. Which might explain me dying literally 1-1.5 seconds into the fight unless I was quick on my feet.

Tempted to get it for the PC. Hm...

Do it, and join GAF INC, the coop is great and all the little "clan"related things make it all the more fun.

That may have been it.
The extended time DART overlay with added regen also helped me a lot. I'd just breach, DART, fire 3-4 shots with the shotgun, and repeat.

I must be great at video games. I had no problem with the bosses.

I think it also depends on how people went about leveling their characters. I for one built my health and healing regeneration so I guess it gave me a little more breathing room during the boss fights. Only had to retry once with the last boss. I went through all the other no problem.

I'm also surprised about the hatred over the quiet moments.

I don't care about the story or the talking for the most part, but I really enjoyed taking in the wonderful scenery. I'd say that it's currently the best looking sci-fi game of that kinda dystopian genre. I don't love it near as much as Deus Ex, but I still think it has its own merits. It's got a bunch of really good 'fuck yeah' moments even if you're not doing much.

Mashing square to open doors is just sillly though, but I'm usually too busy appreciating some god damn first person animations.

I found the first boss pretty god damn hard. The bosses past that I've found pretty easy.

Is the German version somehow cut/doctored? I am from Austria but Origin thinks I am from Germany for whatever stupid reason (had problems with other games).

I hate EA man... I bet they've spent more on one day worth of ME3 shit marketing than they did for all of Syndicate's marketing cycle.

well they had budget for marketing Syndicate... They then realised that just blitzing ME3 would make more monies.

Holy shit, the last part of New England on expert is crazy. We had to take out the four agents and at the same time they kept throwing in all kinds of other baddies. There were fatties with flamethrowers, electric armor guys, a bunch of sergeants and to make it even worse there were those annoying jammer enemies. We must have spent almost 15 minutes just in that area until an agent finally got separated from the others and we could take him down. Also discovered how devastating a well timed backfire and minigun attack can be, all three of the remaining agents almost got gun downed at the same time :).

In the end all of us ended up with around 40.000 exp and way too many blueprints. I think it's really great how well all the abilities work together and how effective you can be when everything clicks. Few shooters forces me to use this many fingers at the same time :)

I got bored with the single player and decided to play co-op solo, i didn't like that i had to be signed in but i did, and chose normal.. i was getting crushed till i chose the loadout with backfire and a shotgun..i was enjoying myself more than i did through the 3 hours of single player i played.. then i got disconnected from EA servers.. it hurt.. i wish co-op was actually the single player game or that it had an offline mode, and now i feel like i wasted my money.. i can only blame myself, i'll trade this for something else on craigslist after i trudge through single player. -__-

*sigh*

I can't even run it, EA support is also unable to help. Anyone else had a similar problem/solution?

Catalyst drivers, direct x, visual c, .net and windows updates are current. Confirmed this about 4 times lol. Still no luck.

Awesome, invite me to the Syndicate when you get a chance. Love the group stat tracking that comes with being in a Syndicate.

Yeah I don't think many of the co-op levels will work well solo, maybe the first one, but the ones where you have to carry four harddrives/tissue samples or fight agents would just be annoying or almost impossible. Why don't you just join a random game?

Origin: Messofanego

What a surprise, my laptop can run this really well! Like max settings AND vysnc on, on ATI mobility 5650, easily above 30fps.

Is it just me looking at all the object HUDs?

I love how the game's sometimes asking you to execute civilians; really subliminal, subtle storytelling adding to the nihilistic tone. The hidden propaganda is really cool.

Michael Wincott (The Crow), Brian Cox, AND Rosario Dawson?! I love Merit's mantra of "civ casualties are a non-issue" and in his file it says he's had psychopathic tendencies since a kid. Lilly Drawl and Jack Denham have intriguing Downzone pasts.

I've heard of people going through it all solo, i was enjoying the combat so much i actually considered it myself, but i don't like playing multiplayer games, rarely do with friends, i like lone wolfing., a LOT.

Haha no, I noticed some swedish descriptions in the beginning and had to keep an eye out for more.

It may be manageable after some upgrading, I noticed that I'm nearly unstoppable on normal now that I have most of the upgrades. I imagine going solo while at a low level would be really challenging though.

cheers for the game Jtov, sorry I cocked the flamethrower guy up :( when I realised what was going on it was dead :(

Sorry for just bailing as well got told off by the missus for waking her, can't wait for her to be off on her travels again lol

Hey guys. Any point of syndicate if you're not playing multiplayer?

Seems like a multi heavy game.

Most of us cleared the solo before moving on to the multiplayer, you can see peoples opinions from about post 600'ish
