The game is fantastic but is marred by performance issues and crashes especially on console. Once they sort those issues out it will be one of the greats. They gave the game "4/5 - Great" score btw.

I know I've been holding off. Just waiting for they post that's like the PS5 issues are fixed. The game is fantastic but is marred by performance issues and crashes especially on console. Once they sort those issues out it will be one of the greats.
Unfortunately not. It's like they've forgotten about the console version. Apparently sometime in August we might get something but who knows at this point. Game is really bloody good but performance, tearing and crashes really let the console experience down. Put my playthrough on hold halfway through act 2 due to crashing.Screen tearing resolved yet on console?
Honestly, I'd like to say "fuck you" to all the Tainted Grail flunkies that shouted its praises when it launched. Including those in this thread.
so it's awful in the end? it might be not new things.
Assuming it gets more time in the oven, as opposed to what usually happens and they just stop working on it. Too many games are getting out like this, start off great, fall off as you progress in game due to rushed/budget/technical issues/bugs/poor writing/whatever, and then just dropped by the devs. What do they care, they have your money, time to move on the next project. The hype based off the first 15 minutes of fame did the job.I'm on the fence with a purchase. Seems like it needs a year in the oven.

Big patch is out (on PC anyhow, not sure about console). New Game+, additional quests, lots of bug fixes.

Bought it this weekend, playing on ps5 pro.Heard the performance was crap on PS5/Pro
How's it now?
A photo in a post on the /taintedgrail forum leaked the DLC called "Sanctuary of Sarras".I don't understand alien language.
Does it say anything about removing the bugs and the fuckery. I am interested in this but have zero patience for buggy eurotrash right now.
I wouldn't expect it on TGA, but considering they recently had applications for playtests of their "secret new thing" I would say this expansion / dlc is highly likely comingI don't know if an indie game like Tainted Grail would manage to appear at TGA, but it seems like a good prediction to consider.
Tearing and frame drops suck but the absolute worst thing for me was the crashing. Act 1 was perfectly fine but as soon as I stepped into act 2 it was crash after crash. I never got to act 3 because the game crashed while saving which deleted my save game. Haven't been back as I don't want to go through the same shit again. Such a shame. If console ever gets no screen tearing and 60fps 90% of the time I may pick this up. Most of my hype is totally deflated at this point though.
Has anyone tested the new update on Steam Deck or PS5 Pro? Really want to grab this but am torn between the two platforms. I'd go between PC and Steam Deck but PS5 version is on sale, although the crashing and instability sounds awful.
Thanks, look forward to hearing how it runs now!It ran on low fps with a mix of medium/low settings on Deck, I will check the new patch later.

Thanks for responding. Shame it runs like ass still. Maybe I'll wait it out.Well, the game runs the same as before on Deck, it runs around the 20's fps, no matter which settings, low, medium. I can't recommend it on Deck by now, maybe with lossless scaling or a native port it will run better.
We've constantly been going through the game top to bottom, searching for things to optimize. With today's patch, the biggest improvements should be seen on Xbox. Our internal testing shows a significant performance boost of around 20+ more FPS.
These optimizations should also help older or weaker PCs run the game better, although, as always with PC, it heavily depends on your hardware. Modern or high-end PCs probably won't see much difference, but the game should run better overall. Our internal testing also shows an improvement of around 2–3 FPS on Steam Deck and PS5.
Now, regarding PlayStation 5: we're working really hard on this platform, but the issues we're facing mostly come from how Unity handles graphics on PS5 (which we can't change) and, unfortunately, memory allocation as well. This makes fixes tricky, but we're digging through systems and rewriting parts of the game to find any solutions.
Our internal testing shows that we're getting closer to significantly reducing crashes, and we hope to push an update that should help with this when Sarras launches. This crash-fixing patch will, of course, be available to everyone, not only to people who decide to buy Sarras.
All in all, the struggle for better performance on PS5 continues, and we're doing everything we can on our end to improve the situation. We hope to have more good news in February, but we can't promise anything; it's not entirely in our hands. Still, today's patch should offer a small boost to performance and stability. We're really sorry for all the trouble, and thank you for your patience.
